Pelican Roost RV Park is located at 2062 Bon Hommes Richard St, Jacksonville, FL 32227, USA, directly on Naval Station Mayport. This prime location offers unparalleled access to the St. Johns River and the Atlantic Ocean, providing captivating waterfront views and a unique maritime experience for guests.

Pelican Roost RV Park, as a military recreational lodging facility, has specific reservation policies and potential "promotions" based on eligibility and booking lead times, rather than typical seasonal discounts. While direct promotional "offers" are not broadly advertised, the pricing structure and reservation windows serve as benefits for authorized users:

  • Tiered Reservation Windows: Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard personnel can make reservations up to 12 months in advance. Retirees, DoD Civilians, and all others (within eligible categories) can make reservations up to 6 months in advance to the month. This allows eligible personnel to plan their stays well in advance.
  • Waterfront Site Premium: Waterfront pull-through sites can be reserved separately for a small additional fee (e.g., $2 a night more), allowing guests to guarantee those coveted views.
  • Varying Stay Limits: Waterfront sites have a 14-day stay limit, while other back-in sites have a 30-day maximum stay. This helps ensure availability for more guests.
  • Seasonal Rates: Lower rates typically apply for the slow season (April 1 - October 31), with higher rates during the peak season (November 1 - March 31). This offers a more affordable option for those visiting during the warmer months.
  • Sponsorship Opportunities: Eligible personnel can sponsor up to one RV at Pelican Roost on a space-available basis (with restrictions during holiday weekends). Active duty personnel assigned to Naval Station Mayport may sponsor year-round if space is available.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information on rates, availability, and specific reservation policies, authorized users should contact Pelican Roost RV Park directly or visit the official Navy MWR Mayport website. It's advisable to book well in advance, especially for peak season and waterfront sites, as the park is highly popular and often full.

We've been here many times. We love this place. Highly recommend waterfront pull thru. The views are amazing, and we love the military ships and large container ships going back & forth, right in front of you. Nice beach for shelling and enjoying.

We absolutely loved this park. We've been traveling full time in our 5th Wheel and truck. Somehow we snagged a spot along the Rivers Edge. The bathroom was always spotless. We had free Coffee in the AM and free ice! My retired Veteran's only complaint, on Memorial Day, the flag by the office was not at half staff.

First time at Pelican Roost in Mayport. Enjoyed the park, beach, and the base. The RV park had VERY clean restrooms with showers and, most of all, free laundry for its occupants, and the staff was very courteous and knowledgeable. Also enjoyed the surrounding beaches, restaurants and views. Our only drawback was the tropical storm/hurricane Debby that was headed that way, so we had to cut our trip short. Otherwise, we will definitely visit again.

Once again we enjoyed our stay! Lucky to get a last minute reservation on our return trip South so close to 4th of July. Park Hosts, Barbara & Jorge were helpful. Sites are all level and clean. All sites are Back-in. Not much shade. Pelican Roost RV Park faces St. John’s River and you can see the Fleet at Mayport Naval Station. A beautiful sight to see. You can walk to the Beach, about 1/4 mile hike, but I suggest driving your car there. It’s right on the Base. Don’t forget to visit PIE HEAVEN off Base not too far away down the road. Discounts for Vets! “Thrift Store” located on Base was closed when we were there but always a fun place to visit. Since my Husband is a Vietnam Vet we are qualified to stay and we also visited the Commissary and NEX Store. Laundry Room open 24 hours at no cost. One of the Washers was not working properly. No “Out of Order” sign was posted even tho’ it has been reported. Very frustrating… took way too long to complete a cycle, so beware. It’s the one on the end!

I really enjoyed tent camping here. Very quiet and peaceful, beautiful spot. Even during the summer, it was a nice spot with the tree coverage. Unfortunately due to a verbal altercation between a camper and a host (who has been there for three consecutive rotations), the tent site has been permanently shut down. Even though the host was also at fault for the altercation and was being verbally aggressive, the camper as well as other campers at the time, were told the site would be closing down. One of the front desk personnel even said herself: it’s just not worth the headache to keep the tent site open - even though the host was just as at fault BUT NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE, along with said host operating a laundry cleaning service utilizing the MWR laundry facility as well as MWR staff using the same machines during their working shift. Update: The tent site has been PERMANENTLY closed, and the tent camping area is being turned into another recreation area for RV patrons. At least the area will go to good use even though the only patrons MWR Mayport cares about is people with RVs. Very sad to see all these bases that claim to care about veteran to be closing off some accesses that used to be available to veterans. They say they take all incidents seriously, but there is obvious favoritism towards the hosts over the patrons - even when the host involved was absolutely in the wrong and other patrons witnessed the altercation. Being fair would have been to ALSO hold the host just as accountable but no, the decision was to kick out ALL campers instead, and the host still resides as a host to this day. Talk about being unbiased and fair right?
