I don’t typically write many online reviews, not because I don’t want to, just because I don’t have time. We just got back from 4 days at Pirateland and for the first time in a long time, I am taking time to leave a review for this amazing place we discovered. We went with friends who have been before and always told us about how great it is, and they were so right. From the moment we arrived we felt comfortable and safe, the staff were super helpful and friendly and we checked in with ease. We stayed at the lakefront park model rentals and had the best time. Our kids always had something to do between the beach, pools, and splash pad. We rented a golf cart which is a MUST if you stay here because this place is huge and it’s just so much easier to get around on a cart. There were never any loud parties or unruly tenants that we saw. Quiet time was respected, people were friendly and there was nothing but kids and families enjoying themselves. We will be back!!!
Jun 02, 2025 · Jason LongMy family has been going for a week vacation for the past couple years. Its very well maintained and family friendly camp ground. The amenities are great, however it seems it's going to be changing after this year. New ownership things but we will see.
Jun 09, 2025 · Jonathan EubanksI hesitate to leave this review, because Pirateland is already a popular place and I want it all to myself. But the fact is this place is amazing. My family and I have been staying at the Villas for years. It’s our go-to beach destination. They almost always have activities planned for kids that are fun and inexpensive, if not free. The private beach access is always great and the pool is great. The price is great too. The Wi-Fi is usually bad, but I don’t really miss it with all there is to do at the resort and in the area in general.
Apr 19, 2025 · Andrew SmithVacation June 2025: We have camped at Pirateland for many years but this was the first time since they split the campground. The good: Online reservation was easy, the campground is clean, and overall the camping experience there is good. The bad: This is the first time we've ever checked in at the office and had to wait. If they had been busy it would have been understandable but we were made to wait while one of the clerks was taking a reservation on the phone! No ma'am, you having a flesh and blood paying customer standing in front of you, put the individual on the phone on hold and take care of the customer in front of you. Then there was a day that we were coming back to our camper from the beach (we had an oceanfront site) and the staff was trimming the grass. Now, if they were trimming the grass on vacant spots (which were all around) I wouldn't have even given it a thought, but they were trimming our lot and the occupied lot across from us. We were literally getting our grill ready and these guys were throwing trimmings all over the place! This next part I didn't hear personally but one of our neighbor campers said that he heard one them tell the other that they should move on but the other dropped several f-bombs and kept trimming. The final negative was the problem we had arriving and leaving the campsite. The roads need to be wider, period. I don't see how some people get their campers into place especially if the sites around them are occupied. Usually we don't have an issue because we stay at oceanfront lots. However, this time the camper directly across the road from our lot was literally over the road. They could have backed up at least 4 more feet and it would've been fine. The staff that patrols the campground should have seen it and had them back up further. When backing our camper in I was literally inches away from hitting their camper and I had to unhook/hook up at an angle which isn't ideal when hooking up your distribution hitch. I would recommend Pirateland but advise caution because of narrow roads and some staff that seems to be lacking common service sense.
Jun 06, 2025 · Calico JackWe made a quick trip to the beach for Easter weekend. The place we usually was full, so we thought ok we’ll try Pirate Land. Sites were hard to get into, dog poop all over our site, no place to park the truck. Water and electric was on the opposite side of camper. We tried to move to a bigger site, but was told none available, a few sites were open all weekend. Had to rent their golf carts, personal carts were not allowed. That was a 2 in 1 trip!!
