Plantation RV Park About

For RV enthusiasts and travelers exploring the historic charm of Natchez, Mississippi, finding a suitable place to park your recreational vehicle is a key part of the journey. Plantation RV Park, situated at 1 Frederick St, Natchez, MS 39120, USA, is one of the options available for those looking for accommodation in this iconic Mississippi city. This article aims to provide a factual and comprehensive look at Plantation RV Park, drawing directly from available public information and recent customer experiences, to help local Mississippians make an informed decision when planning their visit to Natchez.

Natchez is a city steeped in history, famous for its antebellum mansions, picturesque bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River, and vibrant cultural scene. When choosing an RV park, many factors come into play, including location, amenities, and overall guest experience. We will explore these aspects for Plantation RV Park, providing a realistic perspective based on collective public feedback to ensure transparency and assist prospective visitors in setting appropriate expectations for their stay.

Location and Accessibility

Plantation RV Park is located at 1 Frederick St, Natchez, MS 39120, USA. Its address places it within Natchez, offering proximity to the city's celebrated historical attractions. However, recent reviews indicate that the exact address might not always align perfectly with GPS navigation, which could pose a slight challenge for first-time visitors trying to locate the park. It's important for prospective guests to be aware of this and perhaps look for supplementary directions or landmarks upon approach.

A notable aspect of its location is its proximity to a busy highway. This means that while accessibility to main roads for arrival and departure is generally good, guests should anticipate potential noise from traffic. Furthermore, reviews frequently mention that the campground is part of or adjoins a trailer park. This proximity to a residential area, including older trailers, is a consistent point of feedback. For locals from Mississippi seeking a quiet, secluded natural retreat, this urban-adjacent setting might differ from expectations. However, for those prioritizing quick access to Natchez's downtown area and historical sites, the location could offer a degree of convenience for touring the city's attractions, including the Natchez National Historical Park and the Mississippi River.

Services Offered

Based on publicly available information and customer reviews, Plantation RV Park provides fundamental services typically expected at an RV park. However, the reliability and condition of these services have been a consistent theme in recent guest feedback. Generally, guests can expect:

  • Full Hookups: The park advertises full hookups, which typically include 30 and/or 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections at each site. Reviews suggest that while hookups exist, ensuring they are functional upon arrival might require checking or communicating with staff.
  • Pull-Through and Back-In Sites: The park offers both pull-through and back-in sites. However, recent comments indicate a limited number of pull-through sites, and some back-in sites may require backing up over a curb, which could be challenging for larger rigs.
  • Laundromat: A laundry facility with washers and dryers is listed as an amenity. However, recent reviews frequently state that the laundry room has been closed for renovations or out of service, indicating its availability is inconsistent.
  • Restrooms and Showers: Bathrooms and shower facilities are typically offered. However, numerous recent reviews describe these facilities as unclean, unkempt, or out of order, and some guests noted needing a code for entry that was not provided.
  • Wi-Fi Access: Wi-Fi access is generally advertised. However, some guests have reported that the Wi-Fi was unreliable or stopped working at night, suggesting inconsistent connectivity.
  • On-site Store (Potentially): Some older descriptions mention an on-site store for basic essentials, propane, and even gas. The current operational status and inventory of such a store would need to be confirmed directly with the park.
  • Pet Welcome Policy: The park generally welcomes pets. However, guest reviews have highlighted issues with loud barking dogs, some on long leashes, creating discomfort for neighboring campers.

It is strongly advised that prospective guests contact the park directly to confirm the current operational status and condition of all desired amenities before booking.

Features / Highlights

Based on the provided reviews and general information, the "features" and "highlights" of Plantation RV Park are often framed by guest experiences, which suggest a mixed bag. Here are some aspects that are consistently mentioned:

  • Proximity to Historic Natchez: One of the primary attractions for staying at Plantation RV Park is its location near Historic Downtown Natchez. This allows relatively quick access to the city's famous antebellum homes, Natchez National Historical Park, and the Mississippi Riverfront, making it a functional base for sightseeing.
  • Polite and Courteous Staff (Potential): Some reviewers mention polite and courteous staff who try to make the most of the park's existing conditions. This suggests a willingness from management to assist, despite underlying issues.
  • Full Hookups Available: The presence of full hookups (electricity, water, sewer) at sites is a fundamental convenience for RVers, allowing for a fully functional stay on-site.
  • Shaded Sites (Varied): Some descriptions mention tree-shaded lots. While this can provide comfort during hotter seasons, reviews about site quality are varied.
  • Affordable Pricing (Implied by Value): The phrase "you get what you pay for" used by a reviewer suggests the pricing might be on the lower end compared to other options, which could be a highlight for budget-conscious travelers.
  • Efforts for Renovation (Ongoing): Some past reviews mention that the park has been under new management and undergoing renovations. While recent reviews suggest these efforts may be slow or incomplete (e.g., laundry still closed), it indicates a potential for improvement.

It is crucial for potential guests to recognize that "highlights" here are often balanced against consistent feedback regarding facility conditions, maintenance, and the overall environment. Due diligence, including a personal visit if possible, is highly recommended to ascertain the current state of these features.

For locals who are already familiar with the Natchez area and its various accommodations, and who are willing to overlook certain infrastructural and environmental challenges as noted in recent reviews, this RV park could still be a viable option for a functional overnight or short-term stay when other, higher-rated alternatives are unavailable or outside their budget. It is paramount that any local considering Plantation RV Park calls ahead to confirm the operational status of amenities like laundry and showers and sets realistic expectations for the overall condition and environment of the park.

Polite courteous staff making the most of what they have. However..... this facility proves you get what you pay for. The address does not agree with your GPS therefore it is difficult to find the place. The campground is located next to a busy highway and is part of or adjoins a trailer park full of old scary and abandoned trailers. This is the first site that I have camped at that I would be hesitant to allow my family to walk through at night. Management allows loud barking dogs. The site next to ours had a large barking dog that barked at everything that moved from sunup until after dark. Dog was on a long leash that came to within 7 feet of my truck door when I got out at night. Very unnerving. Only had one pull through site and the rest required backing up over a curb to park your rig in the site. Not very big rig friendly. The closest store had bars on the windows. Would not recommend this facility for any less that a dire emergency.

Found them in Good Sams RV Guide, they should be removed! Stayed when visiting the local historical attractions. Worked with owner on site to rent spot, he had us move to a site with working utilities. Never mentioned that the laundry was closed, 2 showers which on was out of order and the other needed a code to enter which he failed to tell us. No wifi available at night, I think they turn it off. The place is a mess with broken sidewalks and drives and a old trailer park in the back with lots of barking dogs. Do not pull in at night, it is very hard to turn around on the old tight roads . What a hot mess of an RV park, we moved the next morning to the state park down the road.

We arrived at 5:30 and the office was closed. The power at our campsite didn't work. We tried calling the number on the reservation multiple times and emailing them but got no response. We finally moved over one site after looking on the website to see if it was open. We had our dogs with us and decided to take them for a walk to check out the bathroom. The one toilet available was disgusting. Someone had made good use of the toilet and left it unflushed, along with stringing dirty toilet paper all over the floor. There was a door code we weren't given to get into the showers and there was a sign on the laundry facility stating it was out of service. The whole bathouse/bathroom building was gross. You could tell it hadn't been cleaned any time recently. On our way back to the campsite several dogs came from the trailer behind the bathhouse. They followed us barking at our dogs as we hurried them back to our camper. If you take dogs here just know they aren't safe. The RV park backs up to a run down trailer park. Overall we felt unsafe and dirty. It seems like it was a decent RV park sometime in the past but isn't cared for anymore.

I sure wish I had read Google reviews before booking this place. There were a few decent spots in the front but the back gave way to broken down mobile homes, garbage, old furniture, giant potholes. The restrooms were filthy with mold and bugs. We stayed three hours while we visited Natchez then hitched up and left. This place should be shut down by the health department

I really hate leaving a bad review, but I would want to know the issues with park The pictures on web site are old.,campground doesnt look anything like the campground now. The roads are rough, the restrooms we not clean, laundry room still not open.It also sounds like a race track with all the traffic on the road next to the campground. You also cannot get anyone to answer your calls.I had to give another camper the wifi info and codes to bathroom because she had called and e mail and never got answers. It could be a beautiful campground if someone would take the time to work on it.
