As a specific loop within a North Carolina State Park campground, Poplar Point Loop H operates under the general fee structure and policies set by the state. Therefore, it typically does not offer commercial "promotions" in the retail sense. However, there are inherent benefits and potential savings within this system that locals should be aware of:
- Standardized Pricing: Camping fees are consistent and transparent, publicly available on the NC State Parks website and through the ReserveAmerica booking platform. This provides clarity and predictability in pricing.
- Senior and Military Discounts: Eligible North Carolina residents, particularly senior citizens (aged 62 and over), may qualify for a discount on their campsite fees. It's advisable to check the official NC State Parks website for the most current discount policies and eligibility requirements.
- Advance Reservations: While not a discount, the ability to make reservations well in advance (up to 11 months for some NC State Parks, and up to 6 months for general camping) is a major advantage for securing a coveted lakeside or spacious site in Loop H, especially during peak seasons and weekends. It’s highly recommended to book early due to popularity.
- Off-Season Considerations: During the colder months, individual campsite water hookups are typically shut off (though water remains available at bathhouses), and certain loops might close. However, this can sometimes mean more availability and a quieter experience for dedicated off-season campers.
- Cost-Effectiveness: State park camping generally provides a more affordable way to enjoy high-quality outdoor recreation and amenities compared to many private campgrounds or other lodging options.
For the most accurate and up-to-date information on specific rates, reservation policies, and any available discounts, it is always best to consult the official North Carolina State Parks website for Jordan Lake or contact the campground directly.

Nice calm loop, right by the water in every direction. Water is warm enough (early june) to walk in and have a swim. Towards the far side of the loop, the water is about 3 feet deep, which is perfect for children or those who have trouble swimming in deeper water. The sites are nice and level, and the rocks gave no issues. Lots of natural foliage to help start fires, and the lots are large.
We had a beautiful lake view. We saw the sunset right infront of us every evening. The sites were close together but enough distance for some privacy. The shower house was well lit. The showers looked slimmy. Wads of hair were in there are entire trip so not cleaned oftain. Definitely wear water shoes or flip flops in the shower house. The beach is just a short drive, but the kids did play in the water and sand right in front of our site. Overall, the kids and I really enjoyed it.
We had a great lake view. It is our new annual trip.
Love camping here!! Water was a little low this time, but the weather was nice.
Campground was clean. Bathrooms were clean.
