We go to the Guadalupe river every year with a group of 10+ and we tent camp at Shanty 2. It's a great spot...a short walk to the river float entry. The campsites are primitive...no electricity or water. There is a picnic table and plenty of shade trees with a bathouse and portable bathrooms near. Shanty has always been great to us! They give military, first responder and teacher discounts on your tubes ❤ and the drivers have always gone above and beyond...delivering us to our campsites instead of the tube shack. The only drawbacks are you may have to call to make reservations instead of depending on the online booking to be effective. But they have been super courteous on the phone.. always.

Great place to rent a tube or bring your own. $20 pp, the tube takes you around the horseshoe. They have two sites, 1 and 2. Sign up, pay and they give you a parking pass. After you place it in your car they will give you wristbands and a tube (if you need one). You get on the river right there and get off the river on the second bridge. Walk up the hill and get on a bus back. You can do it all day for the same entry, just get another tube and start again. Place gets busy on Saturday/sun just be patient. Nice folks run this, bus drivers are nice. It gets a bit crazy mid river… FYI for those with sensitive young children, alcohol is allowed and some wild and crazy parties may abound, but not bad. People enjoying life!!!!

Already feels overcharged at $20 per person, whether you rent their equipment or not. Additionally very poor communication skills on their part. My family (amongst 2 others) were told the place closes at 7- 8 the latest. We came at 5-6 and the entire place was locked up. When we called to ask what the mix up was, the woman on the phone told us that she told us the facility closes at 6. A terrible experience all around. Don’t waste your money here.

This spot is the worst spot for a river trip. They over charge for parking and have the worst communication of any business. I was charged $180 for two vehicle parking. I didn’t use any of their equipment and or their services. All I wanted to do was park and was charged way too much for parking AFTER we floated the river. We payed $40 to park when we got there and afterwards were blocked in by a bus and they made us pay $180. I called once we got home to tell a manager about what happened and over heard an employee calling me and my family “cheapskates” in the background. I don’t recommend this place at all for your river trip. The employees are rude and don’t want to help. The worst experience I’ve EVER had at the river.
