Stand Rock Campground offers a range of services designed to provide a comfortable and functional camping experience for its guests. Based on customer reviews and typical campground offerings, here are the key services you can expect:
-
Diverse Campsite Options: The campground accommodates various camping styles:
- Tent Sites: Available, noted for being "beautiful spots for tents."
- RV Sites: Equipped with hook-ups. While specific amp service (30-amp, 50-amp) is not detailed in reviews, it's standard for RV sites to offer electric and often water and sewer connections.
- Seasonal Sites: A significant portion of the campground appears to be dedicated to seasonal campers, with "amazing set ups of the campers and houses" indicating robust infrastructure for long-term stays.
-
Clean Restrooms & Showers: A consistent highlight from reviews is the quality of the facilities. "The bathrooms were very clean and nice! Showers were good and plenty of them," which is a crucial service for all campers.
-
Swimming Pool: A pool is available on-site for recreation and cooling off, with one reviewer noting their "teens enjoyed the pool." However, one review mentions the pool was "closed during 90+ degree days" at times, which indicates potential inconsistency in availability.
-
Camp Store/Office: There is a camp store and office for check-in and purchasing essentials like ice and firewood. However, reviews indicate that "the hours of the office and store are strange and not exactly convenient" and "The store is never and I mean never open," making it "hard to get ice and firewood when the store closes at 4." This suggests limited accessibility to these services.
-
Hiking Trail: The campground offers a hiking trail, which was enjoyed by at least one guest, providing a direct nature-based activity on-site.
-
Staff Interaction: While specific services for assistance are not detailed, staff are noted as "very friendly," indicating a willingness to help guests when available.
It is important for prospective campers to be aware of the reported issues with store hours and management accessibility, and plan accordingly for necessities like ice and firewood.
Stand Rock Campground offers several features and highlights that contribute to its appeal as a camping destination in Wisconsin Dells. These aspects, combined with some considerations from customer feedback, paint a picture of the campground's unique character.
-
Beautiful and Scenic Setting: A recurring positive is the campground's aesthetic. Reviewers describe it as a "beautiful campground and very quiet and clean" with "beautiful spots for tents." The natural surroundings contribute significantly to a pleasant outdoor atmosphere, and the mention of enjoying a "hiking trail" further emphasizes its scenic appeal.
-
Exceptional Cleanliness of Facilities: The cleanliness of the bathrooms and showers is a major highlight. "The bathrooms were very clean and nice! Showers were good and plenty of them," which is a highly valued feature for any camper.
-
Quiet Environment for Tent Campers (Potentially): For tent campers, it can be "very quiet" and "not well marked" but this also implies a sense of seclusion if other tenters are not present. This could be a significant highlight for those seeking a more serene tent camping experience away from the busier RV areas or loud events.
-
On-Site Swimming Pool: The presence of a pool is a definite bonus, particularly for families, as "My teens enjoyed the pool." It provides a convenient way to cool off and have fun without leaving the campground.
-
Proximity to Wisconsin Dells Attractions: The campground boasts a "Very nice location too! Easy to get to all the main attractions!!" -
Friendly Staff (Reported by some): Despite other criticisms, some reviews indicate that "The staff were very friendly though and have a nice park!" which suggests a positive interaction with on-site personnel when available.
-
Live Music (Weekends): There is a "band every Saturday" that plays "loud until 10 pm," which could be a highlight for those seeking evening entertainment and a lively atmosphere, though a drawback for those seeking quiet evenings.
It is important for prospective campers to consider the reported inconsistencies in pool availability, inconvenient store hours, and significant concerns about management communication and rule enforcement, as these can impact the overall experience.
Publicly available information for Stand Rock Campground does not consistently list ongoing promotions or special offers. Campgrounds typically announce such deals through their official websites, social media channels, or directly to guests upon inquiry.
However, based on industry practices and the nature of a campground that offers seasonal sites, potential promotions or special offers could include:
-
Seasonal Site Benefits: While not a "promotion" in the traditional sense, opting for a seasonal site often comes with a different pricing structure and potentially unique benefits compared to overnight stays. The extensive setups seen in the seasonal area suggest a community that caters to long-term guests. However, a review mentions "numerous costly improvements to your site at your expense" which need owner approval, and "phony waivers and background checks" for guests, indicating that seasonal agreements may come with significant commitments and scrutiny.
-
Off-Peak Season Rates: Campgrounds often offer reduced rates during less busy times of the year, such as early spring or late fall, when demand is lower.
-
Extended Stay Discounts: It's common for campgrounds to provide discounted rates for guests booking for a week or longer.
-
Event-Specific Packages: If the campground is particularly busy during specific Wisconsin Dells events, they might offer bundled rates or special access. Given the "band every Saturday," there might be special arrangements around these entertainment nights.
To get the most accurate and up-to-date information on any current promotions, special offers, or specific terms related to seasonal sites, it is highly recommended to contact Stand Rock Campground directly via phone or by checking their official website, if available. Given the concerns raised in reviews about contracts and management, direct communication and clear understanding of terms are particularly important.

It is highly recommended to contact the campground by phone during their operating hours. Stand Rock Campground in Wisconsin Dells presents a unique set of characteristics that may make it suitable for certain Wisconsin locals, particularly those prioritizing specific aspects of their camping experience. It offers a blend of natural beauty and accessibility to one of the state's most popular tourist destinations.
Firstly, for Wisconsin residents who appreciate a scenic and inherently "beautiful campground," Stand Rock provides an appealing setting. Its quiet nature, especially for tent campers when the area isn't crowded, offers a peaceful escape amidst natural surroundings. The presence of a "hiking trail" allows for direct engagement with the outdoors, a cherished activity for many Wisconsinites. For those seeking a serene backdrop to their outdoor leisure, the inherent physical beauty and cleanliness of the grounds and facilities are significant draws. The "very clean and nice" bathrooms and ample showers are a major plus, ensuring comfort even in a natural setting.
Secondly, its location in Wisconsin Dells is a dual advantage for locals. It means easy and quick access to the area's famous waterparks, entertainment venues, shops, and restaurants. This allows campers to enjoy the natural tranquility of the campground while having the option to dive into the excitement of the Dells at any time. For families or groups that want to balance relaxation with adventure, Stand Rock's "Very nice location" that's "Easy to get to all the main attractions" makes it a practical choice. The opportunity to "enjoyed walking through the seasonal campground to see all the amazing set ups of the campers and houses" also offers a unique local flavor, showcasing the vibrant community within the park.
However, it is crucial for prospective local campers to weigh the significant concerns raised in recent reviews, particularly regarding management practices. Issues such as "poor management," "constant scrutiny," "imaginary and completely baseless claims" about rules, "loud" Saturday bands until late, and difficulties with store hours (making "hard to get ice and firewood when the store closes at 4") are serious considerations. The observation that "the rules are for some but not all" and that seasonal campers might face "costly improvements to your site at your expense" with "phony waivers and background checks" for guests are particularly noteworthy for anyone considering a seasonal stay.
Therefore, Stand Rock Campground is most suitable for Wisconsin locals who prioritize a beautiful, clean, and well-located campground with direct access to Dells attractions, who are also prepared to navigate potential challenges related to management communication and service availability. It might be a good fit for short-term stays where guests are largely self-sufficient for necessities like ice and firewood, and for those who enjoy a lively evening atmosphere with live music. For seasonal campers, a direct and thorough discussion of all contract terms and expectations with management before committing would be absolutely essential to ensure a "relaxing and enjoying" experience rather than "stress and drama."
Customer Reviews
We tent camped there. Beautiful spots for tents but a little close if there are other tenters (we were the only ones thank goodness). Also not well marked. But it was a beautiful campground and very quiet and clean. We enjoyed the hiking trail! The bathrooms were very clean and nice! Showers were good and plenty of them. My teens enjoyed the pool. The mini putt could use some work. We passed on using that. The hours of the office and store are strange and not exactly convenient. Thankfully we really didn’t need anything, except when we arrived after 4 we had no idea how to find our spot since the office was closed. Also hard to get ice and firewood when the store closes at 4. The staff were very friendly though and have a nice park! We also enjoyed walking through the seasonal campground to see all the amazing set ups of the campers and houses. Very nice location too! Easy to get to all the main attractions!!
Beware of poor management. The campground itself is clean and scenic. The ownership and management make it impossible to relax or enjoy your stay. The owner drives around in her car looking for everything and anything to complain about. She goes on Facebook and posts her findings (always negative) don’t be surprised to be under constant scrutiny and to be held to rules that are clearly not in the contract. The owner makes stuff up and pretends her contract is some sort of one sided authoritarian ruling. I work in contract law and found myself baffled to all of her imaginary and completely baseless claims. As one other review stated the rules are for some but not all. The more money you spend the higher priority you are and less likely to end up being under the looking glass. Several times last summer the pool was closed during 90+ degree days. The store is never and I mean never open. There was a storm last summer and trying to get the manager to help on “her day off” was pathetic. Branches were downed everywhere. It was Very dangerous, but we were scolded for bothering her. There is a band every Saturday and it’s loud until 10 pm/golf carts are constantly racing around the campground with zero caution to small children. Per your “contract” you are expected to make numerous costly improvements to your site at your expense, that needs to be “approved” by the owner. Your not allowed to have screen tents and you should forget about having guests if you don’t want them scrutinized and rung through the wringer with phoney waivers and background checks. Other than the sites themselves I have nothing good to say about this place and urge anyone considering a seasonal to find other accommodations. Last year alone over 26 people left. Camping should be relaxing and enjoying. This place is stress and drama.
We stayed at Stand Rock for the first time last weekend. The campground is very nice. Sites are a good size, my kids enjoyed the playground, and the staff is friendly. The sites are all very shaded. It's a little confusing to figure out the site lines and whose firepit/electric/water are whose, but since it's off season, the campground was pretty empty, so it didn't matter. The bathrooms are super clean and I liked the individual showers. My only suggestion is that there needs to be a bigger sign for the campground. We arrived after dark and had a hard time spotting the sign from the road as it's pretty small. Yes, there is noise from the interstate nearby and the trains, but it didn't bother us at all. All in all, we enjoyed Stand Rock and plan to go back.
This campground was nice. Very quiet and family oriented. The only problem was the staff. Like another person wrote, the lady upon check-in was not very friendly. Made me feel not welcome. Also a guy approached me and my kids telling us to be at the campsite now cause of kids curfew. I had to tell him I was not under 18, and all he said was, "oh". The staff sucked. They need attitude adjustments. But the pool and bathrooms were immaculate! Campground = Great. Staff = Horrible.
Read your contract thoroughly. But don’t be surprised if they impose “policies” that aren’t included in the contract. As someone else mentioned, they will add rules as they go. One of our neighbors was kicked out, but they didn’t find out from management. They found out when people were coming by to look at their site. Management posted their site for rent before telling them they were being booted. The campground is beautiful & clean, though. But that’s mostly because they have a ton of requirements which mandate campers to have their site look a certain way. And if you have any questions or complaints, forget it. They don’t answer the phone & their office hours are very limited.
