Customer Reviews
Mike and Cheryl here. We have a 44 foot Class A RV. Here is my review of Stone Mountain Park Campground. Road to: Driving near Atlanta is always hectic, but all road are good. Road inside: First the entrance to the park is very narrow. I hit my right mirror on a pole. The road in the campground is very bad. Potholes, broken pavement, huge humps. Trees: All well trimmed. Check in: Large office at entrance. Staff was friendly. Parking: Large parking area. Seasonal campers: None. Signage: Bad, the road map shows section H, but the road is M. Site 282: Gravel pad and level. Had table and fire pit. View: Nice view of the lake and stone mountain Site spacing: Very Good Bathhouse: Did not use. Laundry room: Did not use. Swimming pool: Yes, but did not use. Club house: None. Fitness area: None. Grounds: Nice due to the scenic woods. TV: Over air antenna was good. Wifi: None. So here is the bad: Roads in the park are terrible. Many sites are unlevel, but we got lucky. Sites 290, 153, 157, 174, 172. I would come back. Dream Big, Travel Far, Live Well...
Wow! This place was amazing! We booked the premium spot for several nights and it did not disappoint. The early morning hours when all you hear is nature and can enjoy just sitting by the lake with your coffee. My kids really loved skipping rocks when it was extra calm and no birds were close. The geese and squirrels were fun to watch too. Though the squirrel's did some damage to The garbage bags if you campers left out even though the guidelines stated not to. They had a pool that was extremely cold even though it was June of 2024 when we went. They also had a wooden structure playground that looked really fun but also appeared a little outdated. Access to Stone Mountain Park was really close and the drive there was great. We enjoyed the Windy roads and all of the different animals we saw along the way. The campground was fairly quiet especially so in the morning. I think for anybody that is looking to try this place out have so many different options from RVs and trailers to tent camping or even staying in a yurt.
Mixed reviews on this camp site. This was our second visit and this time we decided to tent camp. Site number 44 has a view of the water however you can’t see it because the trees are so dense. Also worth noting that we did not have a table on our site, it was on the next site to us. We were able to use the table one night, however the second night a family arrived and we had to move all of our belongings to another unused table. Also worth noting that site 44 is very sloped and uneven. Even my husband had a hard time walking and navigating through this site. We were very disappointed with this site and basically feel it needs to be put out of use. As like most campsites the comfort stations need a lot of maintenance and work. Definitely worth noting is that the staff were really friendly and helpful.
I stayed at the Stone Campground for 3 nights. Overall, it was a great experience with friends and we enjoyed all that the park has to offer. Pros: -Staff was friendly and helpful. Ms. Dianna (manager) helped us plan to see all the attractions and saved us $ by telling us about the weekend pass/bracelet. She also checked on us throughout our stay. -Garbage pickup is a great amenity -Campground and bathhouses were clean -Waterfront site offered beautiful views -Free boat tour for campers Cons: -The roads and some sites are rough and unlevel. The staff is aware and they said they hope to be able to make necessary repairs soon. Definitely not impassable but hard to bike and walk. -Sites are close together with little privacy -“Lock-in” fee is not camper friendly and they should consider getting rid of this. -We had to pay an entrance fee to the park, I understand it’s separate from the campground but perhaps there should be an option to pay that at the time of reserving your sites online.
The road in the campgrounds are poor. Potholes and tree roots make the drive pretty rough. It needs attention. The spot where we were was very unlevel, by the time my RV got us level, we had two wheels off the ground. We paid for 50 amp service but it was not working, so we had 30 amp service. No septic at that particular spot. The temps were cool so we only needed one air conditioner. The campground was very scenic, lots of trees
