This article aims to provide an objective overview of Sunset Mobile Village, drawing solely from the provided public information, including customer reviews. Understanding the experiences of current and past residents is an important aspect of evaluating any potential living situation. We will explore the park’s location, its accessibility to local amenities, and the reported features and services, providing a factual basis for Michigan locals considering this housing option.
Sunset Mobile Village is a mobile home park located in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Mobile home parks are typically communities where residents own their manufactured homes and lease the land or lot upon which their home is situated. This model can offer a pathway to homeownership for individuals and families, often at a lower entry cost compared to purchasing a traditional single-family house. The appeal of mobile home parks often includes a sense of community, a more compact living style, and the potential for a lower overall cost of living, including property taxes which are often incorporated into lot rent. Sunset Mobile Village operates within this framework, providing individual lots for mobile homes within the Farmington Hills area. As with any residential community, the experience can be shaped by various factors including management practices, community standards, and the overall maintenance of the property. Prospective residents should approach their research with a comprehensive understanding of these dynamics.
Sunset Mobile Village is situated at 28730 Grand River Ave, Farmington Hills, MI 48336, USA. This location on Grand River Avenue places it along a significant commercial and residential corridor in Metro Detroit. For Michigan residents, Grand River Avenue is a well-known thoroughfare that connects various communities, offering a blend of retail establishments, dining options, and service businesses.
The Farmington Hills address provides access to a well-developed suburban environment in Oakland County. Its position on Grand River Avenue means residents have direct access to local bus routes (if available in the immediate vicinity) and a straightforward connection to major roadways and expressways, including I-96, I-275, and M-5. This connectivity is crucial for commuting to work, accessing healthcare facilities, and reaching educational institutions across Metro Detroit.
While the exact walking distance to specific amenities is not provided, being on Grand River Avenue typically means proximity to strip malls, individual stores, and various fast-food and sit-down restaurants. The mention of a "liquor store on the same property" indicates immediate access to a convenience. However, it's important to note that living directly on a major artery like Grand River Avenue can also mean exposure to traffic noise and activity. For Michigan locals considering this park, the accessibility to major roads and nearby commercial services is a key aspect of its location. It offers an urban/suburban living experience with immediate access to everyday necessities, though prospective residents should consider the trade-offs of living on a busy street.
Mobile Home Lot Leasing: The fundamental service provided by Sunset Mobile Village is the leasing of individual lots for manufactured homes. Residents typically own their homes and pay a monthly lot rent to the park management.
Basic Utilities Hookups: Mobile home parks are expected to offer connections for essential utilities such as water, sewer, and electricity to each leased lot. Residents are generally responsible for setting up accounts and paying for their individual utility consumption.
On-Site Convenience (Liquor Store): As mentioned in a review, there is "a liquor store on the same property." While this might not be a direct service provided by park management, it offers an on-site convenience for residents.
Prime Farmington Hills Location: The park's location on Grand River Avenue in Farmington Hills is a significant feature. This offers direct access to a major thoroughfare and places residents within a well-established suburban community. This means proximity to essential services, retail outlets, dining options, and easy connectivity to the broader Metro Detroit area for employment and entertainment.
On-Site Liquor Store: The presence of a liquor store directly on the property is a unique on-site convenience, as noted in a customer review. This provides immediate access to certain retail needs for residents.
Potential for Affordability: Mobile home parks generally offer a more affordable housing option compared to traditional stick-built homes in the same area. While specific pricing details are not available, one review mentions a $300/month charge (though it is unclear if this refers to lot rent or something else, and should be verified), which could indicate a lower monthly cost than conventional rentals in Farmington Hills.
Information regarding specific promotions, discounts, or special offers for lot leases or home sales at Sunset Mobile Village is not available in the provided public data. Mobile home parks may occasionally offer various incentives to attract new residents, such as reduced security deposits, waiving of certain fees, or temporary discounts on monthly lot rent. However, these types of offers are typically time-sensitive and communicated directly by the park management. To inquire about any current promotions, available lots, or homes for sale within the community, it is essential for prospective residents to contact Sunset Mobile Village directly. Directly speaking with the management office is the best way to obtain the most accurate and up-to-date information on any potential financial benefits or special deals that might be available to new residents.

Please note that a phone number for Sunset Mobile Village was not provided in the source information. For Michigan residents exploring diverse housing options, Sunset Mobile Village in Farmington Hills offers a distinct alternative, primarily appealing due to its strategic location. Situated on Grand River Avenue, the park provides residents with immediate access to a major commercial corridor, ensuring convenience for daily errands, shopping, and dining. This accessibility is a key draw for locals who prioritize being close to urban amenities and having straightforward commutes to various parts of Metro Detroit.
The potential for a more affordable entry into homeownership, characteristic of mobile home parks, can be a significant factor for Michiganders seeking to manage housing costs. While specific details on lot rent or home prices are not provided, mobile home communities often present a more budget-friendly alternative to traditional housing in a desirable area like Farmington Hills. The presence of an on-site liquor store also adds a layer of immediate convenience for residents.
However, it is critically important for any Michigan local considering Sunset Mobile Village to conduct extensive due diligence. The provided customer reviews, which describe significant concerns regarding property conditions, management practices, and a challenging living environment, paint a stark picture that contrasts sharply with the aspirational tone often associated with finding a new home. Issues like "bugs, mice, busted, old, rusty trailers," and claims of "no credit or criminal background checks" are severe red flags that must be thoroughly investigated. The direct feedback suggesting a "slumlord" owner who "puts no money into fixing the trailers" and experiences of depression due to the environment are serious considerations that prospective residents should not overlook.
Therefore, while the location offers convenience, the suitability of Sunset Mobile Village for locals hinges entirely on a comprehensive personal assessment. It is crucial for interested individuals to physically visit the park, inspect potential homes and lots meticulously, speak with current residents extensively (as one review explicitly advises), and obtain and scrutinize every detail of the lease agreement before making any commitments. For some, the lower cost or location might be compelling, but only a direct and thorough investigation can determine if it aligns with their expectations for a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained living environment in Michigan.

I lived in downtown Northville for five years when I realized I needed something a little more luxurious. Then, one day I came across the sunset mobile home park, best day of my life. When I entered the lot I was blown away by the pure beauty of this park. I instantly placed an offer on the blue one in the back that was built in 1952 and hasn’t been renovated since 1952. it overlooks the downright gorgeous view of the storage facility behind it. I’ve lived in gross pointe, Birmingham, Plymouth, and west Bloomfield and never have I seen a property this extravagant. after moving here I decided to quit my job as a supersonic engineer at ford and pursue becoming pope. Thanks again sunset village, your property truly changed my life.
Feb 15, 2024 · HarrisonThis place should be condemned, bugs, mice, busted, old, rusty trailers, drug addicts, alchoholics( there is a liquor store on the same property), pedifiles, no credit or criminal background checks, no air conditioning, depressing etc..... I lived there for 2 years. The landlord owner is a slumlord that charges 300 a month and puts no money into fixing the trailers. I drank everyday living there. I was so depressed due to the environment. You get what u pay for.
