April 2025, I stopped here as I needed a shower after several days of roughing it at Forest Service camps. This is to shiny and open for my taste. It would make a great base camp, to explore the many things in the area. I personally would not view it as a destination to spend time in camp. Everything is new and well kept, the sites are generously sized and well spaced. There are no trees, in the camp, and the trees between the camp and Sinking creek are to dense to enjoy a view of the creek. As a shiny new, and open campground, it is 5 stars, everything works, is clean and the prices are fair. The only thing missing is hooks in the shower room to hang your dry clothes on.

Did an overnight tent camp that was supposed to be an entire weekend so the photos are based off roughly 24 hours or less in the area. I truly hope to get back down there but it's quite the drive from Kansas City, nonetheless the scenery is spectacular and very well maintained. Most of the pictures are from the water behind the hotel as I walked roughly a mile both ways looking for fish but more so just exploring. Crystal clear water and at a few other areas we stopped at were drop spots for canoe and/or raft floats which i regret not doing. If you get a chance, I would go explore and be prepared, as much as one can, to a LOT of mosquitoes but such is nature.

One of the nicest campgrounds we have been to. Especially for a state park. Paved parking pads. Full-hookup sites. Hiking trails. Close to many amenities & historic venues. Lots to see & do. Wild horses visit every morning around 6-6:30 am. Restaurant, playground, bathhouse, canoe/kayak rentals, walk up to Sinking Creek, & bluff views. Peaceful, quiet, & relaxing location. Modern & updated features. We loved our stay. ♥️

The campground is every well kept. The pads are level with plenty of grass to play. The store at the lodge has ice, drinks, and other items you might have forgotten or lost on the river. I noticed that one of the local raft/canoeing companies picked up people from the campgrounds. The only con is that it is so new (est. 2016) that the trees are still small at the camp sites. There is no cellphone service but they do have wifi. This is such a beautiful area. Family friendly. Rivers and hiking everywhere you turn.
