The park's location also places it strategically near Gainesville, a major hub for shopping, dining, and cultural attractions, including the University of Florida and UF Health (Shands and VA Hospital) – making it a favored spot for families visiting students or those needing hospital access. Beyond urban conveniences, Alachua County is where "nature and culture meet." Within a half-hour drive, adventure-seekers can discover "5 state parks and over 6 popular swimming holes," including the crystal-clear waters of Ichetucknee Springs and Ginnie Springs, perfect for kayaking, tubing, and diving. Other nearby natural attractions include Poe Springs Park (15 minutes away), offering fishing, canoeing, and hiking, and the birding, hiking, and mountain biking hotspot of San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park. We arrived after midnight and was able to reserve and stay same night after hours. So convenient! The bath houses were absolutely sparkling clean. It was so easy to get in and out of the park and loved the animals. Perfect, trouble free and safe place to stay! Will definitely be back.
Apr 06, 2025 · misty bryanVery clean location. Very nice and kind staff always willing to help you! Golf cart friendly. Pet friendly, and has a dog wash station. The bonus is the free petting zoo of rescue animals. They also provide free food for your little kids to feed and pet them. Amazing place to watch the sun come up and take a walk on 3 different trails/roads they have. Highly recommend overnight stays as well as long-term rentals. We loved it there.
Apr 03, 2025 · Kelly FormanTravelers campground was so conveniently located off the highway, very well maintained and such a cool place to stay. I loved their wildlife preserve. It was so nice to enjoy a walk in the morning and see the donkeys, miniature horses, chickens, and even a cow that they have on the property. Staff was very nice and so easy to work with over the phone, they offer discounts for AAA account holders along with other discounted rates opportunities. Overall a very organized operation.
Feb 10, 2025 · lexi scottGreat group of people. Had the best say I could have ever asked for. The staff was great and helpful in the office. The maintenance workers went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable in my site. Just an overall excellent experience. We hope to return soon.
Jan 15, 2025 · Mark KernsCampground is very convenient, right off the highway, But very over priced to pull off the road at530pm and leave early am. $89.10 with a military discount. We were told oh rates are higher because of the races, but after reading reviews I see other people were told, it's peak season and rates are higher because it's football weekend, I feel they are taking advantage of people because of the situation they pull off the highway tired and do not want to keep going. Sad because this could of been a yearly convenient stop for us.
