Turkey Sink Campground is located within Guadalupe River State Park, with its address being Spring Branch, TX 78070, USA. This places it squarely in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, a region celebrated for its rolling landscapes, spring-fed rivers, and abundant wildlife. For Texans, the accessibility of this campground is a significant advantage, making it a convenient destination for a quick weekend trip or a longer family vacation.
The park is easily reachable from major Texas cities. From San Antonio, you can take Hwy 281 north approximately 20 miles to Hwy 46, then head west for 7 miles to Park Rd 31, and finally turn right onto Park Rd 31 for 3 miles to reach the park entrance. If you're coming from Austin, take IH 35 south to New Braunfels, exit on Hwy 46 West towards Boerne (Loop 337), continue for 5 miles, turn right on the Hwy 46 West ramp, go 27 miles, and then turn right on Park Road 31 for 3 miles to the park. This central location means that even with a country feel, you're never too far from urban amenities or other Hill Country attractions.
Once inside the park, Turkey Sink Campground is one of the main camping loops. While specific campsites might require a short drive to the central restroom facilities, the overall layout is designed for immersion in nature while still being navigable. Its proximity to the Guadalupe River, a major draw for the park, adds to its appeal, offering easy access to swimming, fishing, and tubing opportunities.
Turkey Sink Campground, as part of a Texas State Park, offers a range of essential services designed to make your camping experience comfortable and enjoyable. Based on typical state park offerings and customer reviews, you can expect the following amenities:
- Campsites with Water and Electric Hookups: The campground features 48 sites that come equipped with both water and 30/50 amp electrical hookups, accommodating both tents and RVs. Reviewers note that the power source might be a "long distance from the tent platform," so bringing a long extension cord is advisable for tent campers.
- Tent Pads: Each campsite includes a designated tent pad, providing a level and cleared space for your tent.
- Picnic Tables and Fire Rings with Grills: Every campsite is outfitted with a picnic table for outdoor dining and a fire ring with a grill grate, perfect for cooking over an open flame (when burn bans are not in effect).
- Clean Restrooms with Showers: As highlighted by customer reviews, the "bathrooms are very clean and nice," ensuring a comfortable experience. These facilities offer hot water for showers.

Turkey Sink Campground offers several features that make it a compelling choice for Texans looking for a quality camping experience:
- Well-Shaded Campsites: A key highlight mentioned by visitors is that the "campsites in this section were well shaded and very pretty." This is a significant advantage, especially during the warm Texas summers, providing much-needed relief and a pleasant ambiance.
- Direct Access to Guadalupe River State Park: Being an integral part of the state park means campers have immediate access to all the park's natural wonders and recreational activities, including four miles of Guadalupe River frontage for swimming, fishing, tubing, and canoeing.
- Extensive Trail System: The park boasts over 13 miles of multi-use trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Popular trails include the Bamberger Trail (challenging), Barred Owl Trail (easy with a limestone bluff overlook), and the Painted Bunting Trail (longest, open to horses).
- Wildlife Viewing Opportunities: The diverse ecosystem of the Hill Country allows for spotting a variety of native wildlife, including whitetail deer, various bird species like barred owls and painted buntings, coyotes, and armadillos.

- Sukkot Friendly: One reviewer specifically noted it as a "Very nice place to celebrate Sukkot," suggesting it accommodates cultural or religious observances with its natural setting.
As Turkey Sink Campground is part of Guadalupe River State Park, promotions and special offers typically align with those offered by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) system. While specific "promotions" in the commercial sense are rare for state park campsites, there are ways to make your visit more cost-effective:
- Texas State Park Pass: This annual pass provides free entry to more than 80 state parks for you and your guests (up to 15 people in one vehicle) for one year. While it doesn't discount the camping fee, it waives the daily entrance fee, which can add up significantly for multiple visits or longer stays.
- Reservations: It is highly recommended to make reservations in advance, especially for weekends, holidays, and during peak seasons (spring, summer). While not a discount, reserving ahead ensures you get a spot and avoids disappointment, as parks often reach capacity. You can reserve online via ReserveAmerica or by calling the TPWD customer service center.
- Off-Season Visits: Visiting during the cooler months (late fall to early spring, excluding holidays) might offer a more peaceful experience with fewer crowds, even if the rates remain consistent.
For the most accurate and up-to-date information on fees, availability, and any specific park advisories (like burn bans), always check the official Texas Parks & Wildlife Department website for Guadalupe River State Park or call their customer service center.

Customer Reviews
The campsites in this section were well shaded and very pretty. The bathrooms are very clean and nice, but depending on your campsite you may have to drive to get to them. Bring a long extension cord if you want to have power in your tent because the power source is a long distance from the tent platform. Plan on bringing a propane grill because if there is a burn ban they won't allow charcoal grills either so the only way you can cook at your campsite is if you bring a propane burner/grill with you.
Very nice place to celebrate Sukkot
Really nice campground. The sites are separated nicely, the tent pads are nice and pretty secluded compared to other State parks we've been to. The new restrooms with separate showers are really nice!
The turkey sink camping area is nice and quiet. There are trails behind every site making it easy to get to the bath houses. There is no playground in the turkey sink area but the discovery center is a short hike away and has a lot to offer for kids. We stayed for a bit over a week and had a great time. There are no sewer hookups here either.
We enjoy taking our trailer here. Nice sites around a loop. Not too far from the river.
