Introduction / Overview
For many New Yorkers, a true escape means pitching a tent or parking an RV amidst nature without sacrificing access to modern conveniences. Webster Park Campgrounds, nestled within the expansive 550 acres of Webster Park in Monroe County, offers exactly this balance. Located directly on the picturesque shore of Lake Ontario, this established campground provides a welcoming, family-friendly retreat that is remarkably close to the amenities and attractions of the Greater Rochester area. It is a prized spot for locals seeking a quick weekend getaway or a longer vacation base within the Finger Lakes region.
The atmosphere at Webster Park is known to be quiet and peaceful, thanks to the secluded, heavily-wooded setting. Campsites are often praised for being surrounded by tall hedges and trees, which creates a surprising degree of privacy, making your stay feel more intimate and rustic. The campground caters to a variety of outdoor enthusiasts, offering sites for everything from tents to large RVs and motorhomes. This mix of convenience, privacy, and natural beauty makes Webster Park Campgrounds a cherished destination for residents across Western and Central New York looking to connect with the great outdoors.
While a small, older facility, its consistent high marks for cleanliness, particularly for its restrooms and shower facilities—often cited by visitors as some of the best they have encountered at a public park—speak to a commitment to quality that many campers appreciate. As part of the larger Monroe County Parks system, guests also benefit from a wide array of recreational activities within the surrounding park grounds.

This blend of rustic charm and urban proximity solidifies Webster Park Campgrounds as a top choice for local New York campers.
Decent, small campground. All sites have electric and most were within reach of water. Bathrooms were clean. Showers were probably the best campground showers I’ve ever used. I did not like how I had to pay more for a “larger” campsite for my 30’ camper when many of the standard size sites could have very easily fit my camper. I actually found my “larger” sites to be much smaller than most of the standard sites. We also found that there wasn’t too much to do. There were many hiking trails but none that were particularly interesting. There was a “beech” a mile away from the campground but it wasn’t a beach at all. More like a rocky pier for fishing.
Jun 22, 2025 · Amanda KA fine campground with electrical hook ups, water near your site and a dump station. Most of the sites are shaded. Some of the sites are small, even those marked as "large" on the reservation map (such as #35). It's convenient too, about 20 minutes from downtown Rochester.
