Operating under the Fort Cavazos Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) program, West Fort Hood Travel Camp is designed to provide lodging options primarily for military ID cardholders, Department of Defense civilians, and their sponsored guests. This focus helps maintain a particular community feel. Recent improvements to the park have aimed to enhance the visitor experience, offering paved, spacious sites and updated facilities. Understanding that every traveler has different needs, West Fort Hood Travel Camp aims to deliver a straightforward and affordable RV camping experience within the unique environment of a military installation.

Promotions or Special Offers

West Fort Hood Travel Camp primarily offers a value proposition through its affordable standard rates, especially for military ID cardholders. They maintain a clear tiered pricing structure designed to provide savings for those with military affiliation and for longer stays. For instance, ID cardholders receive lower nightly and monthly rates compared to sponsored guests. While explicit "promotions" like seasonal discounts or limited-time offers are not widely advertised, the consistent low pricing acts as an ongoing benefit.

Current (as of information available) rates:

  • Pull-through sites: $20/night (ID Cardholder), $475/month (ID Cardholder); $21/night (Sponsored Guest), $525/month (Sponsored Guest).

Visitors are encouraged to call ahead to inquire about availability and to confirm current rates, as military MWR facilities occasionally adjust pricing or offer specific deals related to military holidays or events. Good value, clean sites, and easy access. Attendants didn't seem to keep up with vacancies as they thought only 1 open when, in fact, there were 4-5 vacancies.

Front desk attitude, one of the worst attitudes experienced outside of Walmart. Trash thrown around the dumpster during business hours in full view of the front desk. No flow back pressure release (yuk). Optimized for maximum amount of RV's. Exit/ Entrance mismarked...

A no-frills RV park; just the basic amenities. However, the office staff are really kind and accommodating. The community showers and restrooms are cleaned daily. ** WARNING** People steal off your RV unit. Someone cut my internet cable connected from the box to my RV. The community laundry room needs upgrades. Only one washer works. The dryers are smelly and lined with pet fur. The dryers do not dry very well.

I WOULD GIVE 0 STARS IF I COULD Staff is horrible. Rates get raised even when the park isn't improving. Broken glass on corner but staff is more concerned with non existing rules. Very disappointing. Has a ton of potential if the MWR makes some changes. Update 4/9/25: staff is slightly better. Everything else remains the same
