Promotions or Special Offers

When it comes to promotions or special offers at a highly-regarded, family-operated campground like Wilderness Campground, direct communication is often the most effective way for West Virginia locals to discover deals. While specific, broadly advertised promotions might not be found online, many independent campgrounds offer various incentives, especially given the positive customer feedback about their "great price" and "accommodating" nature.

Direct Inquiry with the Hosts is Recommended: Given that Melissa and her family are praised as "the greatest hosts!" and "most welcoming," directly calling them is the best approach. They are likely to be transparent and helpful regarding any current or upcoming discounts. Don't hesitate to ask about special rates, particularly if you're a West Virginia resident or planning a specific type of stay.

Potential Types of Offers to Inquire About:

  • Seasonal Discounts: Like many campgrounds, Wilderness Campground may offer reduced rates during their off-peak seasons (e.g., late fall, winter, early spring). If your travel dates are flexible, inquiring about these quieter periods could lead to more affordable camping.
  • Extended Stay Deals: For those planning a longer vacation, perhaps a week or more, it’s common for campgrounds to provide discounted weekly or monthly rates. If you’re looking to immerse yourself in the Mt. Lookout area and the New River Gorge, inquire about these long-term pricing options.
  • Mid-Week Specials: To encourage occupancy during less busy times, some establishments offer more attractive pricing for stays that include weekdays (typically Monday through Thursday). This can be perfect for a peaceful, short escape from the routine without the weekend crowds.
  • Return Customer Loyalty: While not explicitly stated, campgrounds with such strong positive feedback and repeat visitors (like "We will be back!") often value loyalty. If you’ve stayed before, it might be worth mentioning when booking to see if any loyalty discounts apply.
  • Group Rates: Given that the campground successfully hosted a "family reunion," it's highly probable they offer special rates for group bookings. If you're planning a gathering with multiple families or RVs, definitely inquire about group discounts.
  • Early Booking Incentives: Sometimes, campgrounds offer a small discount for booking your site far in advance, especially for popular seasons. Conversely, last-minute deals might also pop up if there are unexpected cancellations.
  • Local Appreciation: As a local West Virginia business, they might occasionally have specific promotions for West Virginia residents, though this would need to be confirmed directly.

The emphasis on "Great price" in customer reviews suggests that Wilderness Campground already offers competitive rates, but it's always worth making a direct inquiry for any additional savings. This place is great! I camped at one of the tent sites for four nights while I did some paddling on the Gauley River and it was perfect. Super peaceful and quiet getaway. Melissa, her dogs and kids were super nice and made me feel at home. Having bathrooms and showers while camping was great and they even provide free firewood!

What they say on their website is true, you come as guest and leave as family! Melissa is simply wonderful, as was everyone else we encountered at the campground. We stopped on our way home from GA with our LQ horse trailer and enjoyed every moment. Melissa thoughtfully placed us in a very convenient site, and our neighbors came out to say hello on our way in. The campground is peaceful and relaxing with incredible hospitality-what more could you ask for!

Easy off and on to Route 19. A nice campground with 50 amp electric, water and sewer. The owner is a great person with a personality to match. Her two twin daughters are adorable and friends for life. We stopped by on our way to Charlotte from the Buffalo area and we again stopped on our way back home. I think we found us a great mid-way stop to Charlotte and back at a very reasonable price.
