Introduction / Overview
Willow Bay Campground is a well-established, family-friendly recreation area located within the Allegheny National Forest in Northwestern Pennsylvania. The facility is strategically situated on the south shore of Willow Bay, a scenic arm of the vast Allegheny Reservoir (Kinzua). It provides a full spectrum of camping accommodations, including vehicle-accessible RV and tent sites, walk-to tent sites, and rustic rental cabins.
With over 100 family campsites, Willow Bay is one of the larger and more developed recreational hubs in the Allegheny National Recreation Area. It is consistently lauded by local campers for its dedication to cleanliness and maintenance, ensuring a high-quality experience for all visitors from Pennsylvania and beyond. The campground operates primarily during the peak season from spring through late fall, with limited, basic-service camping available year-round. Its primary appeal is the direct access to the water and the surrounding national forest, making it an ideal base camp for boating, fishing, hiking, and general relaxation. The commitment to a clean and well-maintained environment, as highlighted by recent visitors, makes it a reliable choice for your next Pennsylvania camping adventure.
The variety of site types—divided into loops like Oak, Aspen, Hemlock, and Deer Grove—allows campers to choose the experience they prefer, from open, sunny spots to shaded areas nestled among mature hemlock trees. This thoughtful layout ensures that whether you are pulling a large RV or backpacking with minimal gear, Willow Bay has a space perfectly suited for your needs.

Willow Bay is incredible! We have been camping on the Kinzua Reservoir for 35 years, at willow bayfor the last 6. The maintenance has NEVER looked as good as it does in 2025. Went out of our way to meet Dan and Story to say thank you. The campgroynd is super clean, well maintained and on a lovely bay. We have Starlink, so service wasn't an issue.
Jul 17, 2025 · Rachel HughesWillow Bay is amazing! We loved it and will be a regular spot for us. A few things to note - the tent sites in Deer Grove are walk to but there is a unloading/loading spot which was very convenient. The campsites were pretty close together. We reserved two and I was able to walk between the two fairly quickly. The sites can comfortably fit 2 tents, maybe 3 if they are smaller but some of the ground was uneven. Wood and ice are available at the front. It is so beautiful there and the people working were very nice. Can't wait for our next trip!
Jun 10, 2024 · Mel LyonsMy husband and I just spent six nights at the Willow Bay campground. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We have been going to the Willow Bay Campground for over 30 years. One thing that we noticed was how clean and well kept the place was this year. In particular, Dan kept the grounds well maintained and Story did a fantastic job of keeping bathrooms clean.
Aug 06, 2025 · Ann Carroll-LeeBeautiful campground - very clean and quiet. Helpful, friendly volunteers. The host, Bill is wonderful, he gave us lots of great information and recommendations. He also keeps the campground, restroom, and showers spotless. We had a nice, level site #29 close to the river (love waking to the sound of the water and birds singing each morning) with electric hookups. Plenty of room between sites. No cell service. We enjoyed hiking, biking and bird watching- osprey and bald eagle call this area home. The town of Bradford is only 17 miles if you need supplies, cell service or want to eat out. Overall a great stay!
May 06, 2023 · J ListReally nice cabins with electric and heaters. I stayed here with my two dogs for one night on a backroads trip. We had a lovely time playing in the water and relaxing in the shade. I couldn’t find any trails to walk. Don’t know if I’m just missing them or if there aren’t any. No cell service but plenty of open sky to send texts via satellite. I even had satellite signal inside my cabin sometimes. The lady at the gate was really nice. It was quiet at night, first week of June, and the bed was comfy. I’d love to return sometime and stay longer.
