Area Three Campground About
Are you a Nebraska local who appreciates the simplicity and raw beauty of primitive camping? For those who seek a genuine outdoor experience, far from the bustling crowds and elaborate amenities of more developed sites, finding the right spot is key. Area Three Campground in Pleasant Dale, Nebraska, offers just that: a return to basics amidst the natural landscape, making it an appealing option for budget-conscious adventurers and those who prefer a quieter, more rustic retreat.
Area Three Campground in Pleasant Dale is known for offering primitive campsites, providing a back-to-basics camping experience. This means campers should expect fewer amenities than modern campgrounds, embracing a more rugged and self-sufficient approach to their outdoor stay. It's a particularly attractive option for those who find peace in simplicity and enjoy the challenge and reward of truly immersing themselves in nature.
As of July 2024, the rate for these primitive sites was noted as $15 per night, which positions Area Three as an affordable choice for camping in Nebraska. While one review did highlight some unfortunate incidents of disrespect from other campers (barking dogs, trash left behind) and a prevalence of ticks, it's important to remember that such issues can occasionally arise in any shared outdoor space. Despite these "minor issues," the reviewer still stated, "it wasn't bad," suggesting that the core experience and location hold appeal for those willing to embrace a more rustic camping style. It implies that for many, the quiet potential and natural setting outweigh isolated disturbances, especially when seeking an unpretentious and budget-friendly outdoor escape.
Area Three Campground is situated in Pleasant Dale, NE 68423, USA. This places it within Saunders County, a beautiful area known for its agricultural land and recreational lakes. Pleasant Dale itself is a small, tranquil village, contributing to the quiet and rural atmosphere that primitive campers often seek.
Being located in Pleasant Dale means Area Three Campground is remarkably accessible for residents of eastern Nebraska. It's a relatively short drive from larger population centers like Lincoln, making it an ideal destination for quick weekend getaways without the need for extensive travel. This convenience is a significant advantage for busy individuals and families looking to escape to nature without spending too much time on the road. While the campground offers primitive sites, the overall accessibility ensures that campers can easily reach the location with their gear, whether they're setting up a tent or pulling a smaller camping trailer. Its proximity to other popular recreation areas, particularly within the Branched Oak Lake complex (as implied by being "across the street" from another campground near Branched Oak), further enhances its appeal by offering a base for exploring the wider natural attractions of the region.
As a primitive campground, Area Three Campground focuses on providing the fundamental necessities for camping, allowing visitors to embrace a more rustic and self-reliant experience. Based on common expectations for primitive sites and the general tone of the reviews, the services typically offered include:
- Designated Primitive Campsites: These sites are typically unmarked or minimally defined, offering open spaces for tent setup. They generally do not include electrical or water hookups.
- Basic Facilities: Access to very basic restroom facilities, often vault toilets, which are common in primitive camping areas. Modern restrooms with showers are generally not available at primitive sites, as hinted by reviews for nearby campgrounds contrasting "modern" facilities.
- Fire Rings: Designated areas for campfires, allowing campers to safely build fires for cooking or warmth.
- Picnic Tables: Individual picnic tables at or near campsites for outdoor dining.
- Parking: Space for vehicles, either directly at the site or in a nearby communal parking area.
- Affordable Rates: Priced at $15/night (as of July 2024), it offers an economical option for enjoying the outdoors.
- Trash Receptacles: While one review noted a problem with left-behind trash, the implication of "Please pick up all your trash when you leave" suggests that proper disposal facilities are expected or encouraged.
Campers choosing Area Three should be prepared to be self-sufficient, bringing their own water for drinking and cooking, and being mindful of Leave No Trace principles.

Customer Reviews
Didn't stay here but stayed across the street. Primitive sites. $15/night as of July 2024.
Great place. It was quiet when we were there other than the rednecks staying at a campsite 3 places from us that decided to bring their 4 barking dogs and left their site completely trashed. The firepit was full of garbage left behind. So disrespectful and disgusting. They should have been banned from any future camping at the NE state parks. Ticks were everywhere. I found them in our 5th wheel, every time I walking in the grass, on our Lab. Other than a couple minor issues, it wasn't bad.
I love camping either alone or with a friend or two. This particular camping trip was about 2&1/2 months long. There was no better medicine and peaceful times I guess I'm saying it was just what the doctor ordered in my life at that time and I would be happy to do it every year and come to think of it I bought a new tent with 2 separate rooms and a screened in front porch to be out of the rain and still have a great time. Pawnee is somewhere to atleast visit for the day when it warms up, but it's always a nice drive around the lake and all the best camping and fishing areas to remember when it's season again. Don't forget about the park sticker, it's the best to get the yearly one ,you manage to spend less than the daily rate. Just saying... that's what keeps the recreation areas that we enjoy safe ,clean and not a lake sized underage drunken party that lasts until dawn....every day, night and keeps our memories happy and not remembering that horrible accident involving booze, campfire, watercraft and I am pretty sure you can fill in the rest. Be responsible and follow the rules posted as soon as you enter the park and your memories will be awesome as you tell them to the younger generation while y'all are camping....
Wonderful quiet little tent campground.
Great dear hunting
