Bay Palms RV Resort About
Are you an Alabamian seeking the perfect RV getaway, whether for a weekend escape or a longer coastal retreat? The ideal RV park offers more than just a place to hook up; it provides a welcoming atmosphere, essential amenities, and a convenient location to explore the beauty of our state. **Bay Palms RV Resort** in Coden, Alabama, stands out as a highly recommended destination, praised by seasoned travelers for its comfort, friendly environment, and ongoing improvements.
For those who embrace the RV lifestyle, finding a park that feels like a second home is paramount. Bay Palms RV Resort has earned high marks from full-time travelers, with one reviewer, after seven years on the road, calling it "one of the more comfortable, friendly rv parks I have ever been in." This speaks volumes about the genuine warmth and accommodating spirit you can expect from this coastal Alabama gem.
A key indicator of any quality RV park is its management and their commitment to guest satisfaction. Bay Palms RV Resort has seen positive changes, with "New office staff, new manager, and a great area manager, Lesa Kaiser, heading up the entire movement. She has been at this location since October 2024." This dedicated new leadership signifies a renewed focus on enhancements, with residents eagerly "looking forward to 2026 on our return to see all the upgrades and the remodeling taking place this summer and fall." This commitment to continuous improvement ensures that your future stays will be even more enjoyable.
Beyond the friendly faces, the practical amenities are what make a stay comfortable. Bay Palms RV Resort features a "clean and well maintained" pool, ensuring a refreshing dip even if it's not always heated to extreme temperatures (a reviewer noted it's a comfortable 70-72 degrees without the heater). Furthermore, maintenance issues are reportedly "taken care of immediately if at all possible," demonstrating a responsive team dedicated to your comfort. The ability to accept "Amazon packages during your stay" is also a modern convenience that truly sets the park apart in today's digital age.
While one resident noted a need for more nearby activities without driving, the park's proximity to Dauphin Island, with its "activities, a nice bike path, and some very enjoyable beaches," offers plenty of opportunities for adventure. The overall quiet and clean environment, combined with friendly staff and guests, solidifies Bay Palms RV Resort as a top choice for those seeking a relaxing and welcoming RV experience on the beautiful Alabama coast.
## Location and Accessibility
**Bay Palms RV Resort** is perfectly positioned at **15440 Dauphin Island Pkwy, Coden, AL 36523, USA**. This prime location offers RVers a unique blend of coastal tranquility and convenient access to the rich attractions of Alabama's Gulf Coast. Situated in Coden, a community known for its serene atmosphere, the resort provides an ideal base for exploring both local charm and regional highlights.
Dauphin Island Parkway (Alabama Highway 193) is the direct route connecting the mainland to the popular Dauphin Island. This ensures that guests have "easy access to Dauphin Island," a significant highlight for many visitors. Dauphin Island is renowned as the "Sunset Capital of Alabama," offering "white sand beaches and breathtaking views," a "nice bike path," and various activities, from birdwatching at the Audubon Bird Sanctuary to exploring Historic Fort Gaines and the Alabama Aquarium at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. The drive to the island is only about 15-20 minutes, making it a convenient day trip for beach lovers and nature enthusiasts.
While one review mentions needing to drive "15 or 20 minutes" for most activities, this speaks to the peaceful, less-congested nature of Coden itself, which many RVers prefer for relaxation. For more extensive shopping, dining, and entertainment options, the larger city of Mobile is within a reasonable driving distance, typically around 30-40 minutes north. This allows residents to enjoy the quietude of a coastal town while still having access to urban amenities when desired.
Beyond Dauphin Island, the resort is "conveniently located near the famous Bellingrath Gardens And Home," a world-renowned 65-acre estate with stunning floral displays and a historic mansion. This adds a significant cultural and natural attraction right on its doorstep.
The access to the bay shore "across the highway" provides an additional natural feature, even if it requires a little navigation over "barriers and large rocks to even get close to the water." For those with kayaks or small boats, this proximity to the bay offers further recreational possibilities. Overall, Bay Palms RV Resort’s location is a strategic advantage for those seeking a coastal Alabama experience.

Customer Reviews
Great location. There's not much to look at when you drive in, but it's one of the more comfortable, friendly rv parks I have ever been in. I've been traveling full time for 7 years and have parked in many many parks over the years. Pool not heated as advertised, but who cares. It's not cold. It's 70 to 72 degrees without heater. It's clean and well maintained. Friendly staff and maintenance issues are taken care of immediately if at all possible. Monday-Saturday office is always open 9 to 5. Amazon packages accepted during your stay. A major plus these days. New office staff, new manager, and a great area manager, Lesa Kaiser, heading up the entire movement. She has been at this location since October 2024. So there are lots of upgrades and changes in that area also. I am looking forward to 2026 on our return to see all the upgrades and the remodeling taking place this summer and fall. Keep up the good work. See you next year.
We were booked for 2 weeks but left after 1 week (no refund was expected nor given). There's not much to do in the area without driving 15 or 20 minutes. Dauphin Island has activities, a nice bike path, and some very enjoyable beaches. The staff and guests were friendly and the pool is nice. The park is quiet and clean. On our site the sewer connection was goofy and difficult to work with. The pet area is amply-sized and seems to be continuously occupied all day. There's access to the bay shore across the highway but you have to climb over some barriers and large rocks to even get close to the water.
We stayed here in our travel trailer in March 2025. The facility was clean, quiet, peaceful and well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful and made reserving and checking in a breeze. People there were friendly and easy to chat up. The location is just north of Duaphin Island and it's an easy drive. It's about 30 mins to drive to downtown Mobile. There's a Greer's grocery store up the road and they are super friendly as well.
On New Years Eve we were on our way back from our first camping trip headed home to New Orleans and wanted to stop somewhere quiet for the night to avoid fireworks at home. Bay Palms was the perfect stop and everything was so nice from booking last minute until we left the next morning. The staff was very nice and helpful on the phone and they had everything ready for us on our arrival. The paved spot was great as it was very spacious. We didn’t utilize any of the amenities because we were only there for a short night but we would definitely stay there again.
I have stayed in the past and all seemed fine, but this stay was not so much. 1. Bathouse was run down and not clean. very much in need of updating. 2. we had to smell sewage for most of our stay. it was worse after the rain. 3. NOT ADA (American with disability ) complaint. Bath House had a ramp but it was gravel from road to the ramp, then the ramp had a 3 inch step up, wheel chair could not get up on it. 4. someone in the campground was smoking weed, which we smelled every evening, if someone from the staff would havejust made a pass through they would have smelled it. 5. they state they have wifi and thats not completly true, they have access to wifi from a 3rd party and its $ 3.95 extra a day. For $95.00 a night, I expect much better, and will be looking for a better place next year when I visit.
