For Pennsylvanians seeking a quiet, clean, and centrally located base camp to explore the unique charm of Lancaster County’s Amish Country, Beacon Hill Camping in Intercourse, PA, is an ideal choice. This is not a bustling, amenity-packed family resort, but a meticulously maintained, small, and rural campground specifically tailored for a relaxed, adult-oriented experience (guests must be 16 years of age or older).
Beacon Hill Camping is defined by its serene atmosphere and its unbeatable location. It is lauded by visitors for its exceptional cleanliness, a feature consistently highlighted in reviews. As one happy camper noted, “Everything is immaculately clean, and the laundry machines actually work!” The focus here is on providing a peaceful environment where guests can unwind after a day of sightseeing. It is the perfect place to, as the owners suggest, “sit back, relax and watch the cows come home,” offering panoramic hilltop views of the adjacent 80-acre Amish working farm.
While the campground embraces a simpler, quieter pace, visitors should be aware of its small footprint. Some reviewers note the proximity of the tiered, terraced sites, mentioning that spaces can feel tight for large rigs, though the helpful, friendly staff and immaculate grounds compensate for the compact layout. It remains a top choice for those prioritizing cleanliness, tranquility, and a prime location for cultural exploration in the heart of the Pennsylvania Dutch Country.
Beacon Hill Camping boasts a premier location at 128 Beacon Hill Rd, Intercourse, PA 17534, USA. Its placement in Intercourse, a friendly and historic farming village in Lancaster County, is one of its most significant assets for Pennsylvania locals:
Prime Amish Country Immersion: The campground is literally situated next to an 80-acre Amish working farm, allowing guests to witness the daily life of the Old Order Amish community, including the passing of buggies on the road, directly from their campsite.
Walkable Village Access: One of the most convenient features is its walking proximity (approximately 3/4 of a mile) to the Village of Intercourse. Guests can easily stroll to Kitchen Kettle Village and the town’s dozens of shops, restaurants, bakeries, antique stores, and cultural sites without needing to move their RV or vehicle.
Central Lancaster County Base: For those planning to explore the wider region, the campground offers easy drives to other popular Pennsylvania Dutch Country towns like Bird-in-Hand, Strasburg (Strasburg Rail Road, Sight & Sound Theatre), and Lititz.
Regional Connectivity: Located near State Route 772 and Route 340, the campground is quickly accessible from major cities in Pennsylvania, including Harrisburg, Reading, and York, making it an ideal weekend or week-long destination for RVers across the state.
Beacon Hill Camping is dedicated to maximizing comfort and convenience, focusing on quality essential services rather than extensive recreational amenities. This ensures a peaceful stay while providing guests with everything needed for a hassle-free vacation:
Full Hookup RV Sites: All overnight RV sites offer full hookups, including Water, Sewer, and Electric (with 50-amp service available), accommodating big rigs up to 48 feet in length.
Enhanced Connectivity: The campground has recently upgraded its Wi-Fi service, providing strong coverage at each site and rental, capable of supporting streaming and video calls—a significant modern convenience in a rural setting.
Clean Facilities: Visitors consistently rate the Restrooms and Hot Showers as exceptionally clean and well-maintained. A fully functional, clean Laundromat is also available on-site, a service guests frequently commend.
Accommodation Rentals: For non-RVers, the resort offers Housekeeping Cottages, Park Models, and Primitive Cabins for rent. All cabins and cottages are dog-friendly and include air conditioning and heat, with the cottage and park model providing full kitchens and bathrooms.
Essential Supplies: Propane (LP Gas) is available for sale via meter, and Firewood is available for purchasing to ensure a relaxing evening campfire experience.
Pet-Friendly Amenities: Quiet, leashed pets are welcome, and the campground provides a Pet Exercise Area for dogs.
The highlights of Beacon Hill Camping revolve around its location, atmosphere, and the quality of its core facilities, appealing to a camper looking for tranquility and local culture:
Adult-Only Policy: The campground maintains a strict policy of only accepting guests aged 16 and older. This commitment to an "adult camping" environment ensures the quiet, relaxed atmosphere that seasonal and repeat visitors cherish, free from the noise associated with children’s play areas.
Impeccable Cleanliness: The high standards of housekeeping across the restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities are a consistent highlight, earning top marks from RV organizations and guests alike.
Panoramic Amish Farm Views: The hilltop, tiered setting provides guests with stunning, unobstructed views of the rolling farmlands, buggies, and the agricultural activity of the neighboring Amish farm, making the simple act of relaxing at the site an attraction in itself.
Direct Cultural Access: Guests benefit from spontaneous interactions, such as Amish girls occasionally selling freshly baked goods on Saturdays, and the ability to access over 100 shops, restaurants, and tours in the Village of Intercourse by foot.
Dedicated Quiet Hours: The strict enforcement of quiet hours from 10 PM to 8 AM underscores the commitment to a peaceful night’s rest, which is essential for a relaxing getaway.

This was our third time staying here and we will definitely be back! Small, quiet, campground. Lovely owner and camp hosts. Everything is immaculately clean, and the laundry machines actually work! Full dryer load that didn't need to be turned on a 2nd and 3rd time - that hasn't happened in a couple of years at other campgrounds! :) Met some nice seasonal campers, too!
Sep 15, 2025 · Lucy SullivanThis is an interesting campground. Clean with beautiful scenery but extremely small. The individual sights are level but the sights are tiered beside each other. Our steps were probably 6 feet from the neighbors sewer/water hook up. We had a pull through site but had to back up onto the road to get out because there was no room to pull forward. We paid $70 a night. Apparently we were paying high prices because it's in "Amish" country. I have never seen so many camping sites on such a small piece of property. The lady at the office was very helpful & friendly.
Sep 19, 2025 · Mary DavisRented a cabin for a couple days at beacon hill while on a motorcycle trip across Pennsylvania. The camp ground is small but very clean, quiet and surrounded by farms. The cabin was clean and simple! A fun and unique experience compared to a cookie cutter hotel.
Sep 17, 2025 · carman servockyThis is the best campground, although it is a little tight here, it is just down the road from all the Amish towns. Right next door to a Amish farm and a perfect location to watch all the horse and buggy go by. Almost every night an Amish family brings baked goods to sell. This place is in the perfect location with friendly staff and a quiet feel. I highly recommend.
Aug 31, 2025 · Clint MeekinsDirectly between two roads. Love the no kids wish it was no dogs as well. Our first night there the people next to us had 4 dogs and were barking a lot. Loved how close to the shops it was. Best views! Wish you had a pool and putting putting golf
