Introduction / Overview: Your Adventure Starts at Bonanza Camping Resort

For Wisconsin locals seeking the ultimate getaway that combines the thrill of the "Waterpark Capital of the World" with the relaxation of an outdoor retreat, Bonanza Camping Resort in Wisconsin Dells offers a compelling option. Strategically located right on Wisconsin Dells Parkway, this resort aims to provide a memorable experience for families, couples, and solo adventurers looking to explore the region's famous attractions while enjoying the comforts of a dedicated camping resort.

Bonanza Camping Resort prides itself on being a "leading name in Wisconsin Dells campgrounds," offering a diverse range of accommodations from spacious RV sites and tent spots to cozy cabins and RV rentals. Their goal is to redefine outdoor leisure by blending the beauty of the north woods with an array of amenities designed for comfort and entertainment. With a heated swimming pool, jumping pillow, playground, and various planned activities, the resort aims to ensure that "every day promises new adventures."

However, recent public reviews for Bonanza Camping Resort highlight significant shifts under new management as of 2024. While the official website emphasizes new ownership "working hard to update the park and hiring new team members" and striving to "accommodate everyone as best as we can," some long-term residents and past visitors express concerns. One former permanent resident reported "a spike in drug activity and sex trafficking" under the new landlord, citing "corporate corruption for the sake of $600 a month." Another review laments that new owners and managers have "run the place to the ground," noting it's "almost empty now" and describing staff as "very rude and arrogant." These candid comments provide a contrasting perspective to the official promotional material and are crucial for potential visitors to consider. This article will present a comprehensive, factual overview of Bonanza Camping Resort, drawing from both its advertised features and recent public feedback, to help Wisconsin locals make an informed decision for their next Dells vacation.

This address places it directly in the heart of the action-packed Wisconsin Dells vacation area, making it an incredibly convenient choice for local Wisconsin residents eager to maximize their time enjoying the region's famous attractions.

The resort is uniquely situated directly across the street from the expansive Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park, home to thrilling slides, roller coasters, and go-kart tracks. Its central location ensures that campers can spend less time commuting and more time experiencing the unique blend of natural beauty and thrilling entertainment that defines Wisconsin Dells. Features / Highlights: What Sets Bonanza Camping Resort Apart (and What to Consider)

Bonanza Camping Resort highlights several attractive features designed to enhance a visitor's experience in Wisconsin Dells. However, recent customer feedback also brings to light areas of concern that prospective guests should be aware of. Here’s a balanced look at the key features:

  • Unbeatable Location: This is arguably the strongest highlight. Being "directly across the street from Mt. Olympus" and just "1 mile from Noah's Ark" offers unparalleled walking access to two of the Dells' biggest attractions. This central position on Wisconsin Dells Parkway means convenient access to numerous other waterparks, amusement parks, restaurants, shops, and entertainment options, minimizing travel time and maximizing fun.
  • Diverse Accommodation Choices: Bonanza provides a wide array of options to suit different preferences and budgets. From 95 full hookup RV sites (including pull-throughs) and basic tent sites to various cabins (standard and deluxe) and even RV rentals, the resort caters to diverse camping styles, making it accessible for many types of travelers.
  • Family-Friendly Amenities: The resort boasts a "heated swimming pool," a "Jumping Pillow," a "NEW Playground," a "Gaga Pit," and a "basketball court." These on-site activities are designed to keep families and children entertained throughout their stay, providing options for fun without leaving the property.

  • Ticket Concierge Service: A unique and valuable service is the on-site ticket concierge, which helps guests find "the best deals on tickets to area attractions" and offers tips for planning their Dells adventures, potentially saving money and time.
  • Pet-Friendly Policy: The resort welcomes pets (with certain restrictions and fees), a significant feature for many Wisconsin families who wish to travel with their beloved animals.

Important Considerations (Based on Recent Reviews): Despite these advertised highlights, it is crucial for potential visitors to be aware of the serious concerns raised in recent customer reviews:

  • Concerns Over New Management: Reviews from 2024 specifically mention a "new landlord" (from Texas) and "new owners and new managers" who have allegedly "run the place to the ground."
  • Safety and Environment Concerns: One long-term resident reported a "spike in drug activity and sex trafficking," creating a potentially unsafe environment.
  • Decline in Maintenance and Occupancy: Comments suggest the place "used to be crowded and well kept" but is "almost empty now," implying a decline in overall maintenance and visual appeal. One review states, "grass around the campground is not moved and needs a painting badly."
  • Staff Behavior: Accusations of "very rude and arrogant staff who think they control everyones space" and "lock up your utilities" indicate potential issues with customer service and respect for tenant rights.

These contrasting points highlight that while the location and advertised amenities are appealing, recent operational changes have reportedly had a significant negative impact on the guest experience and overall environment of the resort. Prospective visitors are strongly advised to investigate these concerns thoroughly before booking.

Promotions or Special Offers: Inquiring About Deals at Bonanza Camping Resort

Bonanza Camping Resort, being a commercial campground in a competitive tourist area like Wisconsin Dells, often features various promotions and special offers to attract guests. While specific, universally active discounts might change seasonally, campgrounds of this nature typically provide a range of incentives. Based on common practices and some historical information, here’s how one might find or inquire about promotions:

  • Direct Website and Online Booking: The most reliable place to find current promotions is often the campground's official website. These typically have a "Specials," "Deals," or "Book Online" section where discounts for specific dates, longer stays, or particular accommodation types might be listed directly. For example, some online booking platforms might show current prices and indicate any ongoing deals.
  • Seasonal Promotions: Campgrounds in tourist destinations frequently offer lower rates during off-peak seasons (e.g., early spring or late fall) or for midweek stays. They might also run special holiday promotions for Memorial Day, Fourth of July, or Labor Day weekends, though these are often associated with higher demand.
  • Early Bird or Last-Minute Deals: Sometimes, discounts are offered for booking far in advance or for last-minute availability, especially if the park is trying to fill vacant spots.
  • Special Group Rates: For larger groups, family reunions, or organized events, it's common for campgrounds to offer special group rates. Direct inquiry is usually necessary for these.
  • Partnerships and Bundles: Given its proximity to major Dells attractions, Bonanza might occasionally partner with local waterparks or other venues to offer bundled deals (e.g., stay-and-play packages that include discounted attraction tickets). The on-site ticket concierge service could also be a source of indirect savings on Dells attractions.

Recommendation: Given the recent customer feedback about changes under new management and the fluidity of promotions, the most effective way for a Wisconsin local to ascertain current offers is to directly contact Bonanza Camping Resort. You can call them at the provided phone numbers or visit their official website to check their online booking portal, which typically reflects the most current pricing and any applicable discounts. It's always wise to ask about any available promotions or loyalty programs when making a reservation.

Documenting the date, time, and content of your conversation can be helpful for your records. Conclusion: Is Bonanza Camping Resort Suitable for Wisconsin Locals? A Balanced View

For Wisconsin locals considering a camping trip to the bustling Wisconsin Dells area, Bonanza Camping Resort presents a mixed bag of compelling advantages and significant concerns. On the one hand, its location is undoubtedly a major draw. Situated directly across from Mt. Olympus and just a mile from Noah's Ark, it offers unparalleled walking access to some of the region's most famous attractions. This convenience, combined with a wide variety of accommodation options (RV sites, tent sites, cabins, RV rentals) and an extensive list of advertised amenities like a heated pool, jumping pillow, and planned activities, suggests a resort designed for family fun and convenience.

However, the suitability of Bonanza Camping Resort for local Wisconsinites is heavily impacted by the very recent and serious customer reviews. Allegations of a "spike in drug activity and sex trafficking" under new management, coupled with claims that the park has been "run to the ground" and is now "almost empty," are extremely concerning. Reports of "rude and arrogant staff" who "control everyone's space" and even "lock up your utilities" paint a picture that contradicts the resort's promotional material of hospitality and comfort. While the official website states that new management is working hard to update the park, the current public feedback suggests a significant negative shift in the guest experience and overall environment.

Therefore, while the location and advertised facilities are attractive, Wisconsin locals considering Bonanza Camping Resort must exercise extreme caution. It is crucial to conduct thorough, independent research beyond this article, directly contact the resort with specific questions about current conditions and management practices, and perhaps even consider alternative accommodations in the Wisconsin Dells area until these serious allegations are demonstrably addressed and resolved. For those prioritizing safety, consistent maintenance, and respectful management, the current public information about Bonanza Camping Resort suggests a need for considerable scrutiny before making a booking.

Lived here as a permanent resident for 10 years. Never had any issues. New landlord as of 2024 takes over(from Texas) , and there’s a spike in drug activity and sex trafficking. Great way to run a campground. Gotta love corporate corruption for the sake of $600 a month.

Used to be crowded and well kept. New owners and new managers have run the place to the ground, and it shows. The place is almost empty now. They are very rude and arrogant staff who think they control everyones space even when they are owned by the tenant and will lock up your utilities. I Reccomend running as fast as you can to any other park! Sad the location is beautiful.

I had wrote a review over the weekend. Had some issues they were promptly addressed. I think the staff does care and that's huge. Hope it never changes. So in fairness I deleted that review and put this new one in. Couple things that could be beneficial. 1) on the cleaning schedule maybe revise to check furniture and appliances, just turn them while cleaning and see if they work properly 2) maybe you should fridgerater thermometers in the fridges and when cleaning take a quick check. Ours was on high and should have created ice down below but barely was cool. My electric cooler I brought was colder. Just check the cabins all the way around ours has a broken toilet paper holder and towel holder by sink. Just the little details would go along way. I appreciate the staff taking a concern into my issues and resolving them properly and quickly. Thank you again

Hi Friends! We are addressing Loretta's review. She did not disclose that her and her family demonstrated racist behavior and that we saw them stumbling and throwing down multiple beers in a short time. We have two toddlers under three years old and two adults who consumed adult beverages. Who continues to drink all night while caring for small children? Our kids were having fun outside, and if you want a peaceful experience, go to an adult-only campground. We have been coming here for years and have never experienced issues with other guests. The purpose of camping is to spend time outdoors, not to have our teenagers sit around playing video games all day. Loretta did not mention that individuals with brown skin may not be welcome. Onto the management now: they have a lot of work to do in terms of approach and handling issues. They need to gather all the facts. The manager made a poor judgement call by taking away a golf cart, especially since we saw the entire campsite doing worse things and no action was taken. As a 42-year-old business owner of a million-dollar real estate owner , I believe I could have handled the situation better than the manager did. The staff would benefit from formal managerial training. Regarding site maintenance, bathrooms were kept clean until the weekend, when tent rentals caused damage, clogging showers and bathrooms. However, Casey proved to be very helpful in resolving issues and demonstrated excellent customer service. Pool: the pool is not heated as advertised. I do believe they could benefit by having a heater in it. Overall the proximity to locations were very nice. We have been coming here for years and have enjoyed it multiple times. This time the enjoyment was robbed.

This business is under new management and they are working hard to update the park and hiring new team members. We have a pool and play area as well as activities on Saturdays for the children. And the park is right in the middle of the Water Park Capitol of America. You can literally walk to the Tallest Waterslide in the world. Not sure about some of the reviews that I have read within the last couple of months I know that we try to accommodate everyone as best as we can and strive to be very helpful. The sites, the cabins and travel trailers are clean. We try to stick to the quiet hours unfortunately sometimes people have to be talked to but I have been here for a couple of months now and it is pretty quiet considering we have the water parks right outside our park. Most of the water parks are within walking distance Maybe 2 miles at the most. Couldn’t ask for a better place to stay.
