The hosts are amazing, labor day events are a lot of fun for my kids! We visit this camp ground yearly, going on 4 years, we will definitely make this our spot every year when we do our family trip to the caves! Close to a great trail, bathrooms and showers were clean and even has both cold and HOT water in the shower, seems simple, but I've seen some things other places! Lol
Sep 04, 2024 · Stan ShawlerAlways a pleasure camping here. Most people don't realize you can dry camp here all winter and they have indoor plumbing available 24/7 via pin code access in the visitor center including one shower stall in both the men's and ladies rooms.
Nov 11, 2024 · James MoranStayed here for a weekend visit to the Maquoketa area. Very well maintained campground, the electric sites were plenty to choose from and it was easy to get into the spots with a trailer. Nice clean modern bathrooms that were cleaned daily. The camp host is very friendly and helpful. It's a perfect spot to go if you want to visit the Maquoketa caves but don't want to stay at an overcrowded state park. There are lots of well maintained hiking trails with a tall lookout tower to climb and a swinging suspension bridge over the creek that flows alongside the campground. Will absolutely come back! If you're looking for other fun things in the area, the 61 Drive-in movie theater is a great place to hang out for a double feature, and if you want a great fish fry try going to Bluff Lake.
Jul 18, 2022 · Alex KinneyBeautiful camp site! Not busy. Had hiking trails and cleanish bathrooms with showers. Close to the caves!
Sep 26, 2024 · Zoe CarterWe got the Primitive site. Very affordable and beautiful. My only complaint is there are no portable bathrooms so you have to always drive across the highway to use the bathroom it gets quite annoying really fast.
