For Illinois residents who love to travel and explore, or simply seek a comfortable stop on their journey, the name Kiefer Campgrounds might be a familiar one. While their corporate headquarters are located right here in Effingham, Illinois, at 3110 S Banker St, Kiefer Campgrounds is not a single campsite. Instead, it represents a family-owned and operated network of RV parks and campgrounds spread across multiple states, dedicated to providing a comfortable "rolling home away from home" for travelers. This overview focuses on the corporate entity based in Illinois, and how this family-run operation aims to serve the wider camping community, including those originating from or traveling through our great state.
Kiefer Campgrounds prides itself on being a family-owned and operated business with a mission to offer "quality RV parks and serene, modern campgrounds" that people "will learn to know and trust." Their vision is to establish multiple locations where guests can enjoy a "clean, relaxing environment" with a variety of amenities. While the provided reviews highlight some areas where specific locations within their network might fall short on immediate preparation or facility updates, it's important to understand that the Effingham address represents the central management. Their commitment, as stated on their website, is to strive for "the best rates for a comfortable location, outstanding service, and spotless facilities." For Illinois locals planning trips, knowing about this home-grown, extensive network can be a valuable resource for finding accommodations across various popular travel corridors.
Understanding that this address is the corporate hub, rather than a direct camping site, helps to frame the expectations. Their goal is to manage a portfolio of campgrounds, each with its own unique characteristics and ongoing development. The experience at any individual Kiefer Campground location will reflect the specific management and facilities of that particular park, while being backed by the overarching family vision from their Illinois base.
The corporate headquarters of Kiefer Campgrounds is situated at 3110 S Banker St, Effingham, IL 62401, USA. For Illinois residents, Effingham is a highly accessible city, often referred to as "The Crossroads of Opportunity" due to its strategic location at the intersection of two major interstates, I-70 and I-57. This makes the corporate office itself easy to reach for any business inquiries or administrative needs, though it is not a public camping site.
Effingham's central location in Illinois means it's a convenient hub for a vast number of local users across the state. From Springfield, the state capital, it's approximately an hour and a half drive southeast. From Chicago, it's about a three-hour drive south, and from St. Louis, Missouri, it's roughly an hour and a half drive east. This excellent interstate access underscores why Effingham is a logical choice for a corporate headquarters overseeing campgrounds in multiple states.
While this address is for their corporate operations, its location in Effingham highlights Kiefer Campgrounds' roots in Illinois. It signifies that the company behind a network of RV parks and campgrounds has its heart in our state, potentially making them a familiar and trustworthy option for Illinois locals who frequently travel by RV or seek camping experiences. The accessibility of the corporate office further reflects the company's organizational presence within the region, even if your actual camping adventure will take place at one of their various campground locations.
As the corporate headquarters, Kiefer Campgrounds' services are primarily administrative and strategic, supporting their network of individual campgrounds. These services ensure the smooth operation and consistent branding across their various locations. While not direct camping amenities, they include:
While the Effingham address represents the corporate core, the "features" and "highlights" from this headquarters perspective relate to the overarching benefits and philosophy applied across their entire network of campgrounds. These are the promises and values that Kiefer Campgrounds strives to uphold at each of its locations:
From a corporate headquarters perspective, "promotions" and "special offers" typically refer to system-wide initiatives or policies that apply across the Kiefer Campgrounds network, rather than individual daily deals at a single park. While specific, limited-time promotions would be advertised by individual campgrounds or on their respective websites, the overarching benefits from the corporate level include:
For Illinois locals interested in specific deals at any of their campground locations (e.g., Camp Lakewood in Effingham, IL), it would be best to visit that particular campground's website or contact them directly. However, the overarching corporate strategy aims to deliver consistent value through these network-wide benefits.
For any general inquiries related to Kiefer Campgrounds as a network, business operations, or to address broader concerns, Illinois residents can contact their corporate headquarters using the following details. Please remember that this address is for the corporate office and not a public campground for direct stays.
While direct contact for booking specific campsites should ideally be made via the individual campground's website or dedicated phone number (which can be found through the corporate website's "Locations" page), this central contact is valuable for overarching questions about the Kiefer Campgrounds brand, their policies, or general feedback about their network of properties.
For Illinois locals, understanding Kiefer Campgrounds' corporate headquarters in Effingham provides valuable insight into a significant player in the regional (and indeed, multi-state) camping industry. While 3110 S Banker St is not a campground itself, it represents the strategic heart of a family-owned operation dedicated to serving campers. This suitability for locals comes not from direct on-site camping, but from the broader impact and offerings of the Kiefer Campgrounds network.
Firstly, the fact that a major campground operator has its roots in Illinois speaks to a local connection and commitment to the camping community here. For Illinois residents, this means that the company managing a variety of campgrounds across several states (including one in Effingham – Camp Lakewood) is headquartered within our own state. This proximity allows for a sense of trust and familiarity, knowing that the central operations are close to home.
Secondly, the corporate entity's stated mission to provide "comfortable location, outstanding service, and spotless facilities" at reasonable rates, combined with their participation as Good Sam Parks, translates into tangible benefits for Illinois RVers and campers planning trips. Whether you're traveling within Illinois or venturing out to Indiana, Wisconsin, Missouri, Tennessee, or Kansas, the Kiefer Campgrounds network offers a consistent option for full hook-up sites, pet-friendly environments, and various amenities (like pools and playgrounds, where available). This reliability, backed by an Illinois-based management team, makes their collective campgrounds a strong consideration for local families and travelers seeking consistent quality and value in their outdoor adventures, without having to extensively research new operators at every destination. It's about knowing there's a familiar, family-run entity working to make your camping experiences enjoyable, wherever you roam.

We stayed at Madison Campground on April 1, 2025. The website said they opened on April 1. It was clear that no preparations at all had been made prior to April 1st. The campground restrooms had no water in them and were very dirty. They assigned us a campsite where the electricity didn't work. We had traveled 440 miles that day, were all set up, only to have to move. When we went back into the office to tell them, they sort of laughed and said - "Oh yeah, the electricity on that site didn't work last year. Guess you will have to move." We were also told that we would receive a receipt via email - it never happened. If you are open on April 1, then everything should be ready BY that date. For $70 a night, we were disappointed.
Apr 15, 2025 · Debbie AndersonMadison Campground, charging $77 a night and your showers are terrible! Peeling paint and filthy bathroom. Needs updating. I will tell anyone who asks, NOT to use a Kiefer Campgroung! Update your campgrounds! Charging that high a price for substandard , outdated fixtures in the campground. Worst campground I've ever been to . Shame on you. You'll never get my business again!!!!!
May 08, 2025 · David CornwallWe stayed at Kiefer campground near Meramec in Sullivan, MO. I plan to share what campers want to know- the sites are close together, there are fire pits, there are full hook ups, no wifi, phone signal was ok but not great with ATT, there was a fenced dog play area, a pool (during summer only), a shower house, and a laundry facility. The sites are gravel- pull through and Fairly level. There is a very small playground and game room- I would not expect that children would be entertained for long in the off season (past Labor Day). There was a nice building with tables/ chairs, a juke box and one game to have a gathering with friends if it rains. 8 pieces of wood for the fire pit was $9 and wood on site. Simple needs like ice, propane refills, etc. are available at the camp store. If further needs are noted there is a DG right down the road. I gave 5 * because I had nothing at all to complain about and it was a cozy stay for a few nights!
Sep 16, 2024 · Amber VandersnelAfter a tire blowout on I 70 with our towed vehicle, we had to stay in Effingham overnight. An internet search found Lakewood Rv campground with great reviews and close proximity. If we had to be stuck somewhere for the night, we could not have found a better place. Walking around the lake at sunset was gorgeous. The trees provide cooling shade and breezes⁹. Clean, quiet campground with very clean bathrooms. We love the design of the sites. Spaced apart among the trees and angled to provide privacy. We hope to visit other Kiefer sites during our travels.
Jul 21, 2023 · William TaylorHad to "winter camp" for an event. We scrapped the idea of pulling our Trailer and opted for the Super Deluxe Cabin. It was a delightful experience for Jan and 4 in of snow!!!
