Lazy L RV Park About

For many Texans, the open road and the versatility of RV living represent a unique lifestyle, whether it's for a weekend getaway or a more permanent residency. When considering an RV park in North Texas, understanding what to expect is key. This article delves into Lazy L RV Park, situated in Sherman, TX, offering an overview designed to help local Texans determine if this park aligns with their specific needs and expectations. We aim to provide a factual and balanced perspective, drawing on available information to give you a clear picture of what Lazy L RV Park offers.

RV parks across Texas serve a diverse population, from temporary travelers passing through, to individuals and families who choose RVs as their long-term homes. The appeal often lies in the flexibility, potentially lower living costs compared to traditional housing, and the sense of community that many parks foster. In a vast state like Texas, RV parks vary widely in their amenities, services, and overall atmosphere. Some are designed for short, resort-style stays, offering a plethora of recreational facilities, while others are geared towards long-term residents, providing essential services and a more stable environment.

Lazy L RV Park appears to cater primarily to long-term residents. This focus means that while it might be a suitable option for those seeking a stable and affordable place to park their RV for extended periods, it might not offer the same experience as parks geared towards overnight or vacationing travelers. Understanding this distinction is crucial for any RVer, especially those just passing through, to manage expectations. The emphasis on long-term stays often translates to a different operational approach, with policies and services tailored to a more permanent community.

It is important to approach any RV park with a clear understanding of your own needs. For Texans who are looking for a more permanent base for their RV, where community and essential services are the priority, Lazy L RV Park might fit the bill. However, if your plan involves frequent short stays or a desire for extensive amenities typically found in resort-style parks, it’s worth considering all available options. Our goal here is to present a straightforward and informative guide to Lazy L RV Park, helping you make an informed decision for your RV living experience in Sherman, Texas.

Location and Accessibility

Lazy L RV Park is situated at 310 W Wilson Ave, Sherman, TX 75090, USA. Sherman, a vibrant city in Grayson County, North Texas, serves as a significant hub in the region. The park’s location on W Wilson Avenue provides a straightforward approach for RVs, with relatively easy access from major roadways.

Sherman boasts a strategic position along US Highway 75, a major north-south artery connecting the city to Dallas and Oklahoma. This makes Lazy L RV Park accessible for Texans traveling from various parts of the state or even those coming from neighboring states. The proximity to US-75 means that while the park itself might offer a quieter environment, residents are never too far from the wider transportation network.

Within Sherman, residents of Lazy L RV Park have access to a full range of city amenities. Downtown Sherman offers a charming historic district with local shops and eateries. For more extensive retail and dining options, major shopping centers and chain restaurants are readily available throughout the city. Grocery stores, including popular chains, are conveniently located for daily needs.

Healthcare facilities, including Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center, are within a reasonable driving distance, ensuring residents have access to medical care. For recreation, Sherman provides several parks, golf courses, and community facilities. Additionally, the city is relatively close to large lakes such as Lake Texoma and Lake Ray Roberts, offering ample opportunities for fishing, boating, and other water sports. This blend of urban convenience and access to outdoor recreation makes Sherman a desirable location for RV living, and Lazy L RV Park's address places residents squarely within this advantageous setting. While the immediate area around the park might be more industrial or residential, the overall accessibility to Sherman's amenities is a key factor.

Services Offered

Based on the provided information, Lazy L RV Park primarily caters to long-term stays, and its services likely reflect this focus on essential utilities for extended residents.

  • Full Hookups: While not explicitly detailed, it is a common and expected service for RV parks catering to long-term residents to offer full hookups, which typically include electricity (30 and/or 50 amp), water, and sewer connections at each site. This allows for comfortable and self-sufficient living in an RV.

However, it is important to address concerns raised in customer reviews regarding certain services and operational aspects:

  • Check-in Process Issues: An overnighter experienced difficulties with check-in after 5 p.m., with no one available, no check-in papers, and difficulty reaching management. This suggests that check-in procedures may be geared towards specific hours or long-term arrangements rather than flexible arrivals.
  • Site Suitability: A review mentioned a designated space having a "big tree stump and another tree, which kept us from being able to use our slide." This indicates that not all sites may be optimally configured for all RV types or provide clear access.
  • Bathroom Cleanliness: A significant concern was raised about the cleanliness of bathrooms, with claims that they "never cleaned the bathrooms once" over a three-day stay, noting "same trash on floor and stools."
  • No TV Reception or Cable: A customer explicitly stated "No TV reception or cable," which is a common amenity in many RV parks and could be a drawback for residents expecting entertainment options.

These points suggest that while basic hookups are likely available for long-term stays, the level of service, particularly for transient visitors and common area maintenance, may vary. Prospective residents or visitors should verify the current status and reliability of desired services directly with the park management.

Features / Highlights

Lazy L RV Park appears to have a primary focus that may appeal to certain types of RVers, particularly those seeking a long-term base.

  • Catering to Long-Term Rentals: The most consistent highlight is that the park "definitely seem to only cater to the long term rentals." This suggests a focus on creating a stable environment for residents who plan to stay for extended periods. This can be beneficial for those seeking a more permanent RV home rather than a short-term camping spot.
  • Full-Time Stay Potential: For individuals and families looking for a more affordable and flexible housing solution in Sherman, the park offers the option for full-time RV living, which can be a significant advantage.

However, it is crucial to acknowledge significant concerns and potential drawbacks highlighted in customer reviews, as these impact the overall experience and may be key considerations for prospective residents:

  • Challenges for Overnight Stays: The park is explicitly noted as "not good" for overnighters, with a strong recommendation to "keep going" if just passing through due to issues with after-hours check-in and site availability.
  • Maintenance and Cleanliness Issues: Several reviews point to significant issues with cleanliness, particularly in common areas like bathrooms, described as a "pig stye" with "same trash on floor and stools." This indicates a potential lack of regular maintenance.
  • Limited Amenities/Connectivity: The absence of "TV reception or cable" suggests that entertainment connectivity beyond personal mobile data might be limited, which could be a drawback for many.
  • Customer Service Challenges: Difficulties with check-in and unresponsiveness from ownership outside of specific hours, as described by an overnighter, suggest potential inconsistencies in customer service, especially for new or short-term guests.
  • Site Obstructions: The mention of a "big tree stump and another tree" obstructing a slide-out highlights that some sites may have spatial limitations or obstacles that could impact RV setup.

Given these varied accounts, prospective residents, especially those considering a short stay, should manage their expectations and perhaps verify current conditions directly with the park. The park seems best suited for those primarily interested in a long-term, no-frills parking spot with essential hookups, and who are less reliant on common area amenities or extensive daily management interaction.

Promotions or Special Offers

Information regarding specific promotions or special offers at Lazy L RV Park is not publicly available through the provided customer reviews. RV parks often have varying rate structures, with common discounts for extended stays (e.g., weekly, monthly, or seasonal rates) compared to nightly rates. Given that the park reportedly "only cater to the long term rentals," it is highly probable that any special offers or more favorable pricing would be associated with longer commitments.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information on availability, pricing, and any potential promotions, it is strongly recommended to contact Lazy L RV Park directly. By speaking with the park management, you can inquire about their current rate plans, long-term stay options, and any special deals that might be applicable to your desired length of stay. Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

Lazy L RV Park in Sherman, Texas, appears to be particularly suitable for a specific segment of local Texans: those primarily seeking a straightforward, long-term parking solution for their RVs with essential hookups, and who are less concerned with extensive amenities or frequent, high-touch customer service. The park's reported focus on "full-time stays" suggests it caters to individuals or families who view their RV as a permanent residence and are looking for a stable, potentially affordable, spot to establish a base in the Sherman area. For these individuals, the availability of basic full hookups (electricity, water, sewer) at each site is likely the paramount consideration, allowing for comfortable, self-sufficient RV living.

The park's location in Sherman is a significant advantage for locals. Sherman itself is a well-established city with all necessary urban conveniences, including grocery stores, retail shopping, diverse dining options, and medical facilities, all within a reasonable driving distance. Its position along US Highway 75 provides excellent accessibility to other parts of North Texas and beyond, making it convenient for those who may commute for work or wish to explore the wider region on weekends. This blend of urban access and a fixed RV site can be appealing for locals who prefer the flexibility and potentially lower cost of RV living over traditional housing.

However, it is crucial for prospective local residents to manage their expectations based on available feedback. The park may not be suitable for those expecting resort-style amenities, regularly cleaned common facilities like bathrooms, or a highly active social community often found in more amenity-rich parks. The reported challenges with after-hours check-in and potential site obstructions suggest that a direct visit or thorough communication with management beforehand would be prudent, especially for those considering a long-term commitment. For locals who prioritize a no-frills, functional long-term parking spot and are comfortable with a more independent living arrangement, Lazy L RV Park could serve as a practical and economical base in Sherman. It offers a solution for those who value affordability and a dedicated space for their RV over extensive shared facilities or concierge-level services.

The full-time stays might be OK, but an overnighter here was not good. We were not told that we had to check in before 5 p.m. When we arrived a little after 5, no one was there, no check-in papers, nothing. The maintenance man came by and tried to call the owner (since the night host was on vacation), but she wouldn't answer her phone. He finally went to her house, and she told him which space we should use. That space had a big tree stump and another tree, which kept us from being able to use our slide, so we moved to another space. Not a good experience. If you're just passing through, keep going. They definitely seem to only cater to the long term rentals.

If I could give a negative 5 I would! What a pig stye. We were there 3 days (not by choice, had car trouble). They never cleaned the bathrooms once! Same trash on floor and stools. No TV reception or cable. DO NOT STAY THERE!

I was pleasantly surprised by this location. Our lot was level. Hookups are convenient. The pads and roads are gravel. They don’t have a lot by way of amenities. They do have laundry and shower facilities. And they are right next to a camping world so you can easily walk there and get the supplies you might need. Looks like several permanent spots or someone has taken a lot of time to set up for a short stay.

Stayed 3 times over the years while passing though. They have 4 dedicated pull-thru spots for late overnight stops next to the office. Convenient. Nice pool and next door to camping world if you need accessories. But . . . .no cable, no over the air tv and though they advertise free wifi, It wasn't findable on 2 smart phones nor the smart tv. So bring dvds. Lol. Lots of road construction on approach to this place but it is doable. And less than $ 35.

We were traveling through TX and got water in our diesel. Ended up staying at the Lazy L for 8 days while our truck was worked on. Vicki and Pam are such good people. The pool was not open, but it was early May. Got to expirence TX thunderstorms. Used the laundry, and it was nice and clean with good machines. We really appreciate the hospitality and kindness that we received at Lazy L.
