MacThoy camp at Sherwood About

For Texans who crave adventure with a dash of swashbuckling charm, MacThoy Camp at Sherwood offers an extraordinary camping experience unlike any other. Located within the vibrant atmosphere surrounding the Sherwood Forest Faire in Paige, TX, this isn't just a place to pitch your tent; it's a lively community where the spirit of camaraderie, good times, and a touch of pirate mischief reign supreme. If you're looking to extend your Renaissance Faire fun into the night and truly immerse yourself in a unique social camping environment, MacThoy Camp is ready to welcome you with open arms and a hearty "Ahoy!"

MacThoy Camp stands out as a unique hub for a specific kind of camper: those who appreciate a spirited, interactive, and slightly unconventional outdoor experience. Unlike traditional quiet campgrounds, MacThoy is known for its friendly, "rowdy" (in the best sense of the word) atmosphere, where neighbors quickly become friends. It's a place where the line between camper and participant blurs, creating an unforgettable blend of relaxation and revelry. The reviews highlight the exceptional kindness and welcoming nature of the "pirates" of MacThoy, emphasizing a safe and inclusive environment for both adults and children, even those with four legs!

This campground thrives on its community spirit. Visitors can expect to find a group of wonderful people who pride themselves on being a "problem" in a "fun and wholesome way." This ethos suggests a place where creativity, shared enjoyment, and a respectful balance of party and safety are paramount. It's an ideal spot for those attending the Sherwood Forest Faire who wish to fully embrace the medieval and fantasy themes, carrying the festive energy from the fairegrounds directly into their camping experience.

It's important to understand that MacThoy Camp is not a standalone commercial campground in the traditional sense, but rather a recognized and celebrated "clan" or community within the larger camping grounds of the Sherwood Forest Faire. This means its services and features are largely integrated with, and benefit from, the infrastructure provided by the Faire's official camping facilities. This symbiotic relationship creates a seamless experience for festival-goers who choose to make MacThoy their temporary home.

These folks are some of the best neighbors you could ever ask for. Surprisingly, these are some of the kindest pirates you will ever meet, and just the right level of rowdy to have a good party while still keeping everyone safe. Despite their creed, they are a safe place for kids and are often seen with a few young ones running around. Dog friendly as well. Just an all-around amazing group of wonderful people I am proud to call friends.
