Martinsville Speedway Camp Ground About

For many in Virginia, especially those with a passion for motorsports, a trip to Martinsville Speedway is an iconic experience. And when it comes to fully immersing yourself in the excitement of race weekend, there's no better way than camping right where the action is. Martinsville Speedway Camp Ground offers an unparalleled opportunity for fans to stay close to the track, creating a vibrant atmosphere that's as much a part of the event as the race itself. This dedicated campground provides a practical and thrilling solution for locals and visitors alike who want to maximize their time at one of NASCAR's most historic short tracks.

The Martinsville Speedway Camp Ground is primarily known for its direct connection to the famous Martinsville Speedway. Reviews from real customers highlight the practical advantages for race-goers. One camper noted, "Great camp sites flat and level. We enjoyed our race trip." This emphasizes the convenience and suitability of the sites for recreational vehicles and tents, ensuring a comfortable base for visitors. The direct access to the track experience is a major draw, allowing fans to be at the heart of the action without the hassle of long commutes or daily parking searches. While one review mentioned an unfortunate incident of falling due to a hole, leading to a sprain, it also reiterated the overall positive sentiment towards the "great track." This highlights that while individual experiences can vary, the core appeal of the campground lies in its direct link to the speedway and the overall enjoyment of the race weekend atmosphere it facilitates. For Virginia residents, this means an easy and immersive way to experience professional racing right in their home state.

Martinsville Speedway Camp Ground is uniquely positioned at 680 Clover Rd, Ridgeway, VA 24148, USA. This address places it directly adjacent to the legendary Martinsville Speedway in Henry County, Virginia. The unparalleled proximity to the racetrack is the campground's most significant location advantage, making it the ultimate choice for race fans.

Accessibility to the campground is straightforward, especially during race weekends when traffic management is typically in place around the Speedway. Clover Road provides direct routes to the camping areas, designed to accommodate the flow of RVs and vehicles. For Virginia locals, getting to the campground is generally a simple drive via major state routes and U.S. highways that lead into the Martinsville area, such as U.S. Route 220. While the primary draw is the Speedway, the campground's location in Ridgeway also means it's within a reasonable distance of essential amenities in Martinsville, including grocery stores, gas stations, and dining options, ensuring that campers have access to everything they might need during their stay. This direct and convenient access to both the racing action and local services makes Martinsville Speedway Camp Ground an ideal base for experiencing the region.

As a campground specifically designed to support events at Martinsville Speedway, the primary services offered are focused on providing functional and convenient camping facilities for short-term stays, particularly during race weekends. The emphasis is on practicality to ensure campers have a seamless experience while attending events.

  • Flat and Level Camp Sites: A key service highlighted by reviews is the provision of "flat and level" campsites. This is crucial for RVs and ensures a comfortable setup for all campers.
  • Dedicated Camping Spaces: The campground offers designated spaces for both RV and tent camping, allowing fans to choose their preferred method of accommodation directly on Speedway property.
  • Access to Track Amenities: While specific details might vary, staying at the official campground typically means proximity to and potentially easier access to Speedway facilities like restrooms, concessions, and merchandise stands during event hours.

It is important for prospective campers to confirm the availability of utility hookups (like water, electric, or sewer) as these can vary significantly between general event camping areas and dedicated RV parks. For a speedway campground, basic sites for dry camping or limited hookups are common.

I recently travelled to Martinsville for race weekend and stayed at the campground. It is general admission, which was kind of cool because I got to pick what I thought was my ideal spot instead of arbitrarily being assigned a spot. I was glad I was in a tent, the thought of trying to level a trailer there is anxiety-inducing. I like that it is a short walk over to the track and midway. I didn't like the lack of porta-potties, it was a long walk on uneven ground in the middle of the night and not worth it to spend $100 for a private. It was a fun experience, and would have been more so if the weather had cooperated, lol.
