Mohican Reservation Campgrounds and Canoeing About

For Ohioans seeking an outdoor adventure that combines camping with direct access to the beautiful Mohican River, Mohican Reservation Campgrounds and Canoeing in Loudonville offers a distinctive experience. Situated in the heart of Ohio’s scenic Mohican Valley, this campground presents itself as a hub for both relaxation and recreation. While reviews highlight varying experiences regarding the atmosphere and management, the sheer breadth of options and its prime location make it a notable destination for those exploring camping opportunities in the state.

Mohican Reservation is described as having "Ohio's most scenic rustic riverfront sites," offering a diverse range of accommodations from RV and tent camping to cabins and even tipi rentals. This variety aims to cater to different camping preferences, from those who prefer full hookups to those seeking a more rustic "back-to-nature" experience along the river. The campground also positions itself as a center for entertainment and events, including the renowned Great Mohican Indian Pow-Wow, aiming to provide more than just a place to sleep.

However, it is important for prospective campers to be aware of the range of experiences shared by past visitors. While the natural beauty and direct river access are consistently praised, some reviews indicate concerns about noise levels, rule enforcement, and customer service. This suggests that while the setting is undeniably appealing, the overall experience can be highly dependent on the specific time of year, the nature of fellow campers, and individual interactions with staff. This article will provide a factual overview of Mohican Reservation Campgrounds and Canoeing, allowing Ohioans to form their own informed decision about whether it aligns with their ideal outdoor getaway.

Not family friendly. We had 4 sites with 8 adults and 3 kids. The second day of our stay while we were on the river, large groups of motorcycle gangs had arrived on both sides of our sites. The problem wasn't that they were bikers but that they were doing whippets all night long, which if you're not aware is when someone inhales nitrous oxide to get high. And it's loud. This along with grown men urinating out in the open in front of my kids, jumping in and playing in the river in the middle of the night, constant traffic in and out all night, and them walking through our campsites after being asked not to many times. We attempted multiple calls to their after hours line and even walking to their "night staff" trailer and knocking on it and got nothing. The following morning we went to the front desk to report all of this and were met with an incredibly rude woman who treated us like we were in the wrong and said there was nothing they could do about it. They initially refused to refund us our last night as we were leaving a night early but she allowed it because she "didn't want to deal with us anymore". This place is cheaper than others for a reason. No rules enforced. They let whoever in and out all night long and could care less what anyone does on their property as long as they have made a buck.

First off. Let me start off by the positives. The campground is actually beautiful, and mostly clean. The sites for tents, are ok, ground very rough, not level at least where we were placed. Outhouses were atrocious, I don’t know whose idea it was to add a toilet seat over wood, but whatever. As much as they nickel and dime everything, although nice you would think the bathrooms would have at least warm shower water, there was NO hot water to wash hands and no tissue to dry hands. Now here’s the real issue we had. The owner is a very very very unprofessional and rude C U Next Tuesday, had a nice little run in with her at checkin. Maybe she was having alcohol withdrawals since that’s all she did the entire time was party? When I made my reservation I was asked how many people I would have on my two sites I booked, I said 8 and 4 tents. I said I wanted to pay in FULL over phone. Got the here after thinking we paid for everything and was charged an additional fee for having more than 2 people per site. Then I was referred to as “you people” why the owner because she lacked comprehension and listening. Overall was a good weekend, but won’t be back due to the owners ignorance.

This is the best campground if you're looking for a FUN holiday weekend and camping experience. I have been coming to this campground for over 15 years and its the best one in the area (after trying a few others). Fun activities and common area. Holiday weekends are the best here. Great livery service, live music and typically other fun and relaxed campers - we end up making new friends each year. It is family friendly, however if you are a strict parent maybe camp in your backyard instead.

We will never stay at this campground again. There are multiple campgrounds in the area and this is by far the worst. I recommend anywhere but here for your Mohican River trip. Camp areas are to small but what I found even more disturbing is the staff. The lady working at the check in is extremely rude for absolutely no reason. She has no people skills and needs to remove herself from that position. However I will say the cleaning crew are amazing. They did a wonderful job!

Let me start by saying ,I was so looking forward to my 1 time a year vacation and sight seeing was amazing BUT I will never recommend this campground to anyone they advertise water on your site it is not bring a lot of hose you will need it ,you have to connect to water 3 sites away fron yours. The sites flood so bad that you have to slosh through ankle deep water. The staff there are very rude especially the older lady and the final kicker is you are in a spot comfortable that they put you in for almost a week until they get busy then expect you to move to squeeze more people in , This is the worst campground on Walley Rd , I would have left this campground if all of the other places where not completely full .
