Promotions or Special Offers

As a state park campground managed by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Mounds State Park Family Campgrounds primarily operates on a standard fee structure rather than frequent commercial "promotions" or "special offers." However, there are inherent value propositions and ways for Indiana residents to save on park access and camping.

The main "special offers" typically come in the form of annual passes or specific reduced rates:

  • Indiana State Park Annual Entrance Permits (AEPs): For frequent visitors, purchasing an annual pass ($50 for in-state plates, $70 for out-of-state) can offer significant savings on daily vehicle entrance fees ($7 for in-state, $9 for out-of-state). If you plan to visit Mounds State Park or any other Indiana State Park multiple times throughout the year, an AEP quickly pays for itself.

  • Golden Hoosier Permit: A reduced-cost annual entrance permit ($25) is available for Indiana residents 65 years of age or older, or those receiving Social Security Disability Income, providing an excellent value for eligible individuals.

  • Reduced Winter Camping Rates: During the off-season (typically November through April), many Indiana State Parks, including Mounds, offer reduced camping rates. During these months, water may be turned off and modern restrooms closed, with primitive camping still available. It's advisable to contact the park directly for specifics during these periods.

Beyond these official state-level offerings, Mounds State Park focuses on providing consistent value through its well-maintained facilities, natural attractions, and interpretive programs, rather than limited-time discounts. Booking campsites well in advance, especially for weekends and holidays, is always recommended to secure your preferred spot. For the most current information on fees, passes, and any seasonal operational changes, it's always best to check the Indiana DNR's official website or contact the park directly.

Not the largest campground, which works for us. It butts up to a small airfield. We loved seeing the little planes. We walked down by the river. The camp store has anything you would need. There is is nice youth group camping area too!

The campground is on the smaller side but it's well maintained. Please note the campground is next to an airport and not far away from trains, so you will hear them. There is a nice playground that is not a far walk from any of the campsites. The trails around the park are on the easier side (even the rugged ones) so they are great for the kiddos to tag along.

Pretty nice campground, lots of families, they only have one showerhouse in the middle of the property. But overall, nice and clean. Sites have electric only. There's water spigots every few yards. Sits next to a small airport, so if you're looking for total peace and quiet I will avoid it. Lots of walking trails. Some spots are good sized and some are too small. Sites are not well level, make sure you have plenty of leveling blocks.

Beautiful park. Wonderful staff. The Campground does boarder the Anderson Municipal Airport. You will see and hear plane taking off and landing during the day. There is also a main railroad near by. Neither brother us.
