Jul 28, 2025 · Jill WilliamsSpent a lovely evening at Riverbend retreat. Was guided to our campsite and provided with a very nice space, I only wish I would have been able to find where the water spigot was. River was lovely to swim in and the atmosphere of the campgrounds was quite relaxing. Bathrooms were fairly clean and there were a lot of activities on the grounds to keep people busy. Overall would recommend!
Aug 20, 2025 · Adelaide SteinfeldAlthough our stay was short, we absolutely loved staying at Riverbend Retreat. A young man (I didn't catch his name unfortunately) helped us check and he explained the house rules in great detail. He was very polite and provided a good overview of everything. The owners, Bryce and Amanda, came to our campsite to introduce themselves and asked for feedback about the campgrounds. They were warm, friendly, and accommodating. The site was reasonably priced and very clean. We also met Erin, the resident goat girl, who cares for the goats on the property. An added bonus was that you can pay (only 25¢) to feed the goats and interact with them. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back if we find ourselves venturing through that area again. Thank you Amanda, Bryce, Erin, and the young man who checked us in!
Aug 26, 2025 · Shelby SommerI love camping. It’s a great way to unwind and leave the stress behind… unless you come here. I’ve been coming to this campground for about a decade, while the family I joined has been for over 35 years. It was sold last year and we learned of some changes that were made. We live a couple hours away… but have to drive in the opposite direction to get our camper. This year we experienced delays and couldn’t make it to the campground till shortly after 8pm. We had already checked in over the phone, and the person we spoke with said physical check in was after 3pm. In the past, if we arrived later than typical office hours someone would come out to let us in. We would be met with “you know where your spot is, come to the office in the morning”. I wouldn’t expect the new managers to know us like the old owners of course… but I would NEVER expect anyone in the hospitality business to greet us with “The office is closed, I’m trying to have dinner with my family, go camp in the guest parking lot.” Next morning we left for breakfast, came back and I dropped my lady off to visit the office while I hooked back up to the camper. I pulled over to the gate and get a call that I need to come in with my ID and plate number before they can issue the cards and open the gate. Guess they no longer have room for a truck and camper to park inside near the office. 🤷♂️ NOTE* they have removed the main playground attraction, most of the slides, replaced the airplane shaped see-saw with another airplane see-saw, and replaced the swings in the back with a swing/slide combo system.* Very unimpressive 😒 Fast forward to Sunday. I visited the bathhouse to shower. I was warned that ‘everything will get wet!’ I’ll say in the past I’ve only ever used the showers on the right and never experienced the shower bath experience. This time I used one on the left. Set my clothes down near the door, quarters and supplies on the tiny door shelf. First quarter I stood there relaxing as the hot water hit. Second quarter was a little more relaxing & shampoo. More than I realized apparently because the water shut off before I could rinse the shampoo from my hair and face. Blindly and cautiously found the quarter stack and insert, rinsed to clear the soap and when I opened my eyes the water was already nearing my pile of clothes. After meticulously repositioning everything so they were piled up or hanging on the door, I proceeded with the next quarter. By the end of this quarter run the water had reached the door and my feet were underwater. I stood there like an idiot waiting for what felt like 20 minutes watching the occasional tiny bubbles pop up from the drain. Fortunately this was later on at night and I could hear that the kids outside were no longer playing basketball. I carefully dried and layered clothing around me so I could check if the coast was clear. Nobody in sight so I left the pool and went back to the right side of the bath house. The first shower was out of order… hinting to perhaps someone had a similar experience. The 2nd one, the one I more commonly used was open and dry. While I used this to finish ‘the process’ I realized why I never had an issue with clothes getting wet in the past… it has an extra drain! Proceed with caution tho (see pic). I was pleased to hear the next morning that the manager wanted to talk about the earlier events that played out and we would be receiving a call. Especially because despite being directed to camp OUTSIDE the campground, without water and electricity as we paid for on our site… we were still charged for the full 4 nights our reservation was scheduled for. I’m very disappointed with their resolution, which was a 30% discount on our reservation if we were to come back next year. We will not be going back.
