For Alabamians seeking a serene and welcoming long-term RV living experience, Sunset Hills RV Park in Ranburne offers a distinctive option. More than just a place to park your recreational vehicle, this park aims to provide a cozy, community-focused environment where residents can truly feel at home. Nestled in the quiet countryside, it offers a peaceful retreat while still maintaining convenient access to local towns and a wealth of outdoor activities. This article explores what makes Sunset Hills RV Park a suitable choice for locals looking for an extended stay in the heart of Alabama.
The demand for quality RV parks that cater to long-term residents is growing across Alabama, offering a flexible and often more affordable housing solution than traditional homes. Sunset Hills RV Park distinguishes itself by focusing on a smaller, more intimate setting. The owners, Linda and Danny Ledbetter, are committed to creating the kind of welcoming environment that Danny himself enjoyed during his many years of traveling for construction jobs. They aim to replicate the positive aspects of smaller parks with larger individual sites, fostering a sense of community where guests can truly relax and enjoy nature. While there was a concerning incident mentioned in one review, it appears to be an isolated event related to a family matter rather than a reflection of the park's general safety standards or environment as a typical RV park. The overwhelming sentiment from other long-term residents highlights the park's positive aspects.
Sunset Hills RV Park is located at 7459 Co Rd 49, Ranburne, AL 36273, USA. This address places it in Cleburne County, in the east-central part of Alabama, offering a perfect blend of rural tranquility and accessible convenience. For Alabamians, its strategic location is a significant draw: it's situated just "6 miles south of I20," a major interstate highway that connects Birmingham to Atlanta, Georgia. This makes the park easily reachable from various parts of Alabama and even neighboring states, minimizing travel time for those looking for a long-term base.
Despite being "out in the country," as one reviewer noted, the park is "still close to town," implying convenient access to essential services, groceries, and local amenities in Ranburne or nearby communities. Furthermore, its location is within easy driving range of several prominent outdoor features that Alabamians love to explore. It's approximately "21 miles from Talladega National Forest," "37 miles from Mount Cheaha and Cheaha State Park (Cheaha Mountain)," and "30 miles from Pinhoti Trail And Chief Ladiga Trailhead." This means residents have incredible opportunities for hiking, nature walks, exploring Alabama's highest point, and enjoying scenic trails, all within a reasonable drive.
As a private RV park focused on long-term stays, Sunset Hills RV Park's "promotions" are primarily reflected in its straightforward and competitive weekly and monthly pricing. They are designed to offer value for extended visits rather than short-term discounts. Floridians considering a move or extended stay should note the following:
Given the park's focus on long-term guests and its private nature, the best way for interested Alabamians to inquire about any specific availability or unadvertised long-term specials is to contact the owners directly via phone. They would be able to provide the most current information and discuss any potential arrangements for extended stays.
It is always recommended to call the park directly to confirm availability, discuss your specific needs for a long-term stay, and ensure the park is a good fit for you and your RV.
For Alabamians seeking a long-term RV living solution that combines affordability, peace, and a genuine sense of community, Sunset Hills RV Park in Ranburne is an exceptionally suitable choice. Its location "out in the country" yet "still close to town" provides the ideal balance of rural tranquility and convenient access to daily necessities and major interstates. This means residents can enjoy the quiet life without feeling isolated, a perfect balance for many Alabamians.
The most compelling aspect, as repeatedly highlighted by satisfied residents, is the warmth and hospitality of the owners. Being described as "the sweetest people" who foster a community with "the best neighbors" creates an inviting atmosphere that makes it hard to leave. This personal touch and focus on a cozy community aesthetic are invaluable for those looking for more than just a temporary parking spot but a place to truly belong. The fact that guests "can’t wait to come back again!" speaks volumes about the positive experience they provide.
Furthermore, the park's proximity to Alabama's natural treasures, including Talladega National Forest, Cheaha State Park, and multiple river access points for kayaking, means that outdoor adventure is always just a short drive away. The on-site Nature Trail Zone adds another layer of accessible recreation. For locals, Sunset Hills RV Park offers a unique opportunity to embrace a peaceful RV lifestyle within a supportive community, surrounded by the natural beauty of their home state. It's a place where comfort meets convenience, making it an ideal long-term retreat in Alabama.

My husband and I stayed here for his job the last 2 1/2 months and couldn’t ask for a better place to stay! The owners are the sweetest people and we had the best neighbors! Out in the country but still close to town. Never hated to leave a campground as bad as we hated to leave this one! We can’t wait to come back again!
