Wichita Bend RV Park About
For RV enthusiasts traversing the vast landscapes of Texas, finding a convenient, secure, and well-located spot for a pit stop is essential. Texans know the open road like no other, and when it comes to RV travel, destinations that offer both practicality and access to local charm are highly prized. That’s where Wichita Bend RV Park in Wichita Falls truly shines.
Situated right here in the heart of North Texas, Wichita Bend RV Park offers a no-frills, highly functional, and welcoming environment for self-contained recreational vehicles. It's designed for those who value efficiency, affordability, and easy access to local amenities. As one satisfied traveler put it, "Great place to pull off for the night, get some electric and water. Because its on a frontage road next to the highway there is only one way in which made you feel more secure." Another visitor appreciated that it’s "Nicely maintained... The price was great, and it was attached to a lovely network of parks to walk around." This park provides exactly what many RVers need for a comfortable and practical stop on their journey through the Lone Star State.
Wichita Bend RV Park boasts a highly strategic location, making it incredibly accessible for travelers on major routes. You’ll find it at 300 Central E Fwy, Wichita Falls, TX 76306, USA. This address places it directly off I-44 (also US-287), one of the primary arteries connecting Oklahoma City and Dallas-Fort Worth. The park's frontage road position provides easy entry and exit, a significant benefit for larger RVs.
Its proximity to the Texas Tourist Bureau exit further enhances its convenience, serving as a natural stopping point for those entering or passing through the area. While some RV parks might be tucked away, requiring extensive navigation, Wichita Bend RV Park is designed for straightforward access, minimizing stress after a long day of driving. This accessibility is a major plus for Texans who are often on the move, whether for leisure or work.
Beyond its immediate highway access, one of the park’s most appealing features is its direct connection to the city's beloved Lucy Park. A pedestrian bridge links the RV park directly to this sprawling green space, offering an immediate escape into nature without needing to drive anywhere. This unique amenity allows guests to effortlessly enjoy walking, jogging, or simply relaxing in a beautiful park setting, adding significant value to an overnight stay.
Wichita Bend RV Park focuses on providing essential services that cater directly to the needs of self-contained RVs. This streamlined approach ensures efficiency and keeps costs affordable for travelers.
-
Water Hookups: Each of the park's 28 spaces provides convenient access to fresh water connections.
-
Electrical Hookups: All 28 sites offer 30 amp electrical service, with 14 of those spaces also providing 50 amp service to accommodate a wider range of RVs.
-
Dump Station: While individual sites do not have sewer hookups, a readily accessible dump station is located at the south end of the park for convenient waste disposal upon arrival or departure.
-
Self-Registration / Honor System: The park operates on an honor system for payments, with fees deposited in a dropbox. A park ranger collects fees nightly, making it a flexible and straightforward check-in process, especially for late arrivals.
-
Pet-Friendly Environment: Pets are welcome at the park, making it an excellent choice for those traveling with their furry companions. Guests are expected to keep pets on a leash or confined.
-
Maximum Stay Limit: The park has a maximum usage limit of 72 hours (3 days) per two-week period, designed to keep spots available for short-term travelers.
-
Designated Parking: Vehicles must be parked only on designated spaces and may not be left unattended for more than 24 hours.
-
Rules and Regulations: Clearly posted rules ensure a peaceful and orderly environment, including prohibitions on open fires (charcoal in grills is permitted), excessive noise after 10 PM, and disposal of body waste outside the dump station.
Beyond the essential hookups, Wichita Bend RV Park offers several key features that enhance the experience for its guests, particularly its unique connection to the local environment.
-
Proximity to Lucy Park: This is arguably the park's biggest highlight. A charming swinging bridge directly connects the RV park to Lucy Park, a massive urban park along the Wichita River. This means easy access to:
- Walking, jogging, and biking trails.
- Playgrounds.
- A swimming pool (seasonal, operated by the city).
- Scenic views of the Wichita River and "The Falls."
-
Scenic River Setting: The park is located along the east bank of the Wichita River, offering pleasant views and a natural backdrop for your stay. While some sites may experience highway noise due to proximity, the river side can offer a more tranquil ambiance.
-
Grills and Picnic Tables: Some sites are equipped with picnic tables and grills, allowing guests to enjoy outdoor meals.
-
City-Managed and Maintained: As a city park, it benefits from municipal upkeep, generally ensuring a clean and maintained environment, as noted by positive reviews ("Super clean. Felt safe.").
-
Affordable Daily Rate: At just $17.00 per site per night, it's one of the most budget-friendly options for RV travelers seeking water and electric hookups in the area.
-
Good for Self-Contained Units: The park explicitly states that it's for recreational vehicles with water and sewage holding capabilities due to the lack of public restrooms or showers on site, ensuring guests are fully self-sufficient.
As a city-run RV park with a very competitive flat daily rate, Wichita Bend RV Park typically does not offer complex promotional deals or seasonal discounts like private, full-service resorts. Its primary "promotion" is its consistently low nightly fee, which remains a significant draw for budget-conscious RVers.
The core value proposition here is consistent affordability combined with essential services and prime accessibility. While you won't find discounted packages or loyalty programs, the transparent and low cost ensures excellent value for every stay. The focus is on providing a straightforward, cost-effective, and convenient option for travelers needing a reliable spot to hook up and relax for a few days.

This transforms a simple overnight stop into an opportunity for genuine recreation and enjoyment of Wichita Falls' natural beauty. Whether it's a morning jog, an evening stroll, or letting the kids burn off energy, Lucy Park is an extension of your campsite.
While it's important to remember that Wichita Bend RV Park is designed for self-contained RVs and doesn't offer restrooms or showers on-site, this focus allows it to maintain its affordability and simplicity. For many Texans who own self-contained RVs, this isn't an issue but rather a preferred way to travel. The "honor system" for payment reflects a trust that resonates with the independent spirit often found in the RV community.
In essence, Wichita Bend RV Park provides a clean, secure, and highly convenient base for Texans exploring their own state or passing through. It's a testament to practical camping, offering essential services and an unbeatable connection to local green spaces, making it a truly suitable and appealing choice for our local RV community.
Customer Reviews
Nicely maintained, there appeared to be a homeless camp by the dump station, which was a but unsettling, but it was fine for one night. The price was great, and it was attached to a lovely network of parks to walk around.
Great place to pull off for the night, get some electric and water. Because its on a frontage road next to the highway there is only one way in which made you feel more secure. Trails were under water but we went in May right after the big storms pushed past. Everything you need for a quick pull off if you are self contained.
Here has an entrance to the lucky park, and it’s very close to high way.
In town for business, called parks office and got permission to stay longer than the 72 hrs max. Just off interstate so there's road noise. No bathrooms or showers. 30 amp elec and 110 outlets. Need extension cords to reach pedestals. There is a dump station. Some shorter sites offer shade. Large units with toads will need the pull throughs which are full sun. I'm sure they have 50 amp service. Inexpensive at $17/ night, payment box at entrance. Perfect for overnight convenient stop, perfectly acceptable for a safe utilitarian longer stay
Conveniently located off the highway and $17 a night, made for an easy overnight stay. Offers electric and water. Our site only had 30 amp. Does have a dump station and trash can.
