Introduction / Overview
Nestled within the breathtaking woodlands of southern New Hampshire, what was historically known as the Windsor Hills Camp and Retreat Center is now undergoing an exciting transformation under new ownership and vision. Operating today as 'The Hills at Windsor,' this expansive property, encompassing over 475 acres of stunning natural beauty, is set to evolve into a major regional retreat and camping destination. While a previous review mentions the campground being closed and for sale, the current organizational objective is to expand and enhance the facilities, aiming to create a premier location for spiritual growth, group retreats, and recreational stays.
Locals will find that the property, though in a phase of development, offers a quiet, well-maintained area perfect for disconnecting from the hustle of city life. The original charm and natural setting—including lake access and well-kept grounds—are still very much present. The vision for The Hills at Windsor includes adding modern conveniences, like RV hookups, to complement the existing secluded environment, ensuring its future as a welcoming haven for churches, family reunions, youth groups, and individuals seeking tranquility in the Granite State. This place represents a unique blend of New Hampshire's traditional, quiet beauty with forward-looking plans for modern camping amenities.
Location and Accessibility
The Hills at Windsor is strategically located in the town of Windsor, New Hampshire, a small, heavily wooded community known for its high hills and quiet, secluded atmosphere. The physical location is:
29 White Pond Rd, Windsor, NH 03244, USA
This location places the property off a dead-end road, contributing to the highly valued quiet and private nature of the retreat. It is situated approximately eight miles from the nearest town, providing a true sense of escape while still being easily reachable. For those traveling from Southern New England, the location is less than two hours north of Boston, making it an accessible weekend getaway. The property’s vast acreage is bordered by over 5,000 acres of wooded land, offering ample opportunity for hiking and wildlife scouting, which is a common activity in this area known for its moose and wild turkey populations.
A significant aspect of the location is the access to White Pond. The camp maintains a semi-private 150-foot stretch of beach on White Pond, which is ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and swimming. Importantly, while the location is remote, the proximity to a regional network of snowmobile trails allows for year-round recreational access, placing it about 20 minutes from certain golf and skiing opportunities during the appropriate seasons.
Services Offered
The services at The Hills at Windsor are evolving. Currently, the primary function is as a retreat center and a site for private rentals, which includes access to existing, well-maintained facilities. Future development plans will significantly expand these offerings.
Features / Highlights
The appeal of The Hills at Windsor lies in its peaceful setting and its capacity for both large-scale retreats and intimate wilderness experiences.

The house we stayed in needs a few repairs and upgrades. The amount of equipment provided down by the beach area was a pleasant surprise. We had 8 kids there and they had nonstop fun all day.
