Introduction / Overview
For RV enthusiasts, boaters, and travelers exploring the Empire State, finding a perfect blend of scenic beauty and convenient accessibility is key. Arrowhead Marina & RV Park, nestled serenely on the banks of the historic Mohawk River in Schenectady, NY, offers exactly this balance. It is a premier destination in the Capital Region, providing a tranquil, shaded haven that feels worlds away from the urban hustle, yet remains just minutes from the essential amenities and attractions of Schenectady and Albany.
Operating typically from mid-May through mid-October, Arrowhead Marina & RV Park serves as an essential hub for seasonal recreation. The community is not just a place to park your motorhome or trailer; it’s an integrated marina and campground, offering a genuine waterfront experience that is highly valued by New York locals. The dual-purpose nature of the facility—combining spacious RV sites with extensive dock space and a boat launch—caters directly to those who enjoy life on the water. With its mature hardwood trees providing dappled shade and its well-maintained green spaces, the park lives up to its reputation as a quiet, picturesque stop recommended by seasoned travelers. It is perfectly suited for a quick overnight stay while traversing New York State, or as an extended base camp for exploring the Capital Region, Adirondacks, and the historic Erie Canal corridor.
The park's commitment to a peaceful atmosphere and clean, essential facilities makes it a favorite among those who prefer a "no-frills" natural setting over theme-park-style resorts. This focus on natural beauty, coupled with the management's reputation for being helpful and accommodating, ensures a comfortable and memorable stay for every New Yorker passing through or settling in for a season.
Location and Accessibility
Arrowhead Marina & RV Park is advantageously located at 2 Van Buren Ln, Schenectady, NY 12302. While technically situated in the town of Glenville, the park uses a Schenectady address and is profoundly connected to the city's amenities. Its location right on the Mohawk River, a part of the vast Erie Canal system, is its most defining geographic feature.
Accessibility is one of the park’s strongest selling points for New York travelers. It is conveniently close to major roadways, making for easy on and off access from Interstate 90 (NYS Thruway, Exit 26) and connecting routes. Despite this commuter convenience, reviews consistently note that there is very little road noise, allowing guests to truly relax. The one audible sound, the occasional passing train, is mentioned as frequent but often fades into the background, a small trade-off for such a scenic location.
Beyond vehicular access, the park boasts an incredible recreational link: the **Mohawk-Hudson Bike-Hike Trail**. This dedicated, separated-from-traffic pathway is just steps away, offering locals miles of paved trail for biking, running, and walking along the historic canal and surrounding areas. This feature makes the park an ideal base for active individuals looking to explore the region’s natural and historical landscape without ever having to drive. Furthermore, the location is just minutes from downtown Schenectady and the Village of Scotia, where grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacies, and banks are all readily available.

What a beautiful and quiet RV Park. This place was recommended by friends as somewhere to stay on our road trip going west. Tall trees with dappled shade, green grass, and level sites. There’s a nice laundry room ($1.50 wash, $1.75 dry, and change making machine) with a small lending library in the same building as the restrooms and showers. The showers are older and not spectacular, but get the job done. I was in contact with a very nice and helpful woman that took my reservation months ahead, helped me on the phone when I needed a date change, and then checked us in upon arrival. We’re about to head off on our bikes on the very nearby trail (separated completely from traffic) for some exercise and see the surrounding area after a long day on the road.
Sep 17, 2025 · BBT TresidderThe campground is very nice. It is right on the Mohawk river. It has a boat ramp, and a lot of dock space on the river. There are a couple of benches on the dock on one side of the boat ramp, and a wide lawn space on the other side to set out a chair and enjoy the view of the river. Most of the sites, including ours, were nicely wooded with mature hardwood trees. There is ample green space in the campground. We were initially assigned site #46, a back-in 50 amp with water but no sewer. It was a lovely site, but there were trees on both sides that were close to the coach. Close enough that I didn't feel I could safely get the slides out. It was a shame because it was a pretty site that had good spacing between sites, and it was perfectly level. I went to the office to ask if they had another site. Wendy, the person in the office, said we could move to site #48, a pull-through 50 amp with water, but no sewer. It was a nice long site, but was not level either front to back (front low) nor side to side. Ended up having to use ramps under the tires to be able to level without lifting a tire off the ground. Spacing for the pull-through is standard commercial campground (30 foot) angled parallel. Spacing for the back-ins was a little more generous. There is no road noise, but there is a train track close enough to be able to easily hear the train whistle even inside the coach with the a/c running. The trains run frequently, 7x24. Verizon: 1-2 bars LTE, 23.1 Mbps down, 7.63 Mbps up; AT&T data 17.52 Mbps down, 7.52 Mbps up. Campground WiFi 139.13 Mbps down. Clean laundry room with two washers ($1.75 per 30 minute load) and three dryers ($1.50 per 45 minute load). Bath house was clean. Big Rig friendly.
Aug 07, 2025 · David SandersThis is a well kept and very clean and family run campground. Scenic views on the Mohawk River. Be aware that Starlink use is very spotty at best as there is a lot of tree canopy. The one bath house was clean for the most part but needs updating The showers were very small inside and needed also need plumbing work. We did not see any handicap accessible showers. We were really disappointed by the very loud road noise and very loud non stop train horns. If you overnight here you better have ear plugs.
Sep 20, 2025 · Patriot OneLovely setting with awell run purpose. Close but well kept larger sites than the typical camping resorts. A well thought out with meticulous care to detail in a very simple and appreciated way.Unlike too many private campgrounds that are just as greedy as corporations , you will not find that here, just fairness in a time of money first second and third. May your business continue to be blessed for all your days, for our Righteous ways will always prevail..... even when it doesnt look that way.Peaceful flowing river and peaceful free flowing showers♥️

We lived and had a business in Niskayuna. We live full-time in our 42' fifth wheel and do to the location we are able to visit family and friends! Thank you Wendy and Brad for accommodating our visits! Brian and Kathleen Lansley
