For Texans navigating the vast landscape of RV parks, finding the right fit for your needs can sometimes be a challenge. In McQueeney, nestled in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, you'll find HI-Cotton RV Park at 104 Travis Buford Ln. This park, while perhaps not the most prominent on every RV traveler's list, offers a foundational place to hook up your rig, particularly for those in search of an available spot in a high-demand area.
HI-Cotton RV Park presents itself as a more modest option, focusing on providing essential services for RV owners. It may not boast the extensive resort-style amenities of larger parks, but it serves a practical purpose for those needing a reliable place to stay, whether for a short period or a longer-term arrangement. It’s important to note that experiences shared by past customers can vary widely, from those finding the owner accommodating for specific, unique needs to others expressing significant concerns about communication and park upkeep. This suggests that understanding your priorities and perhaps making a direct inquiry is key when considering HI-Cotton RV Park.
One notable highlight that emerged from recent feedback is the park's unexpected utility for electric vehicle owners. In an era where EV charging infrastructure is rapidly expanding, a specific positive review highlighted the owner's willingness to accommodate a non-resident needing a charge for their Tesla, even mentioning the availability of NEMA 14-50 sockets. This could be a unique draw for EV-owning RVers looking for charging solutions in the McQueeney area, beyond just traditional RV amenities.
HI-Cotton RV Park is located at 104 Travis Buford Ln, McQueeney, TX 78123, USA. McQueeney is a small community situated in Comal County, Texas, known for its beautiful Lake McQueeney, which is a popular destination for water sports and leisurely activities. This location places the RV park within the scenic Texas Hill Country, a region cherished by Texans for its natural beauty, rolling landscapes, and numerous recreational opportunities.
The park's address suggests it is in a more residential or semi-rural part of McQueeney, rather than directly on a major highway. This can contribute to a quieter environment away from the direct noise of heavy traffic. For Texans, accessibility to this park would primarily involve navigating local roads within McQueeney after exiting nearby major routes.
While the exact distance to major amenities and attractions isn't widely published, McQueeney is a small town, meaning most local services would be within a short driving distance. The larger, more bustling city of New Braunfels, famous for attractions like Schlitterbahn Waterpark, historic Gruene, and the Comal and Guadalupe Rivers, is typically just a 15-20 minute drive away. This proximity means that while HI-Cotton RV Park itself might offer a more secluded feel, residents still have relatively easy access to a wider range of shopping, dining, and entertainment options that New Braunfels provides.
For longer journeys, McQueeney's location in Central Texas offers reasonable access to major hubs. San Antonio is approximately 40-50 miles to the southwest, and Austin is roughly 50-60 miles to the northeast, generally within an hour's drive. This positioning can make HI-Cotton RV Park a functional base for Texans who need a temporary or long-term spot in the region, particularly if other, more amenity-rich parks are fully booked, a common occurrence in popular Texas RV destinations.
Specific promotions or special offers for HI-Cotton RV Park are not publicly advertised in the provided information. Given that reviews suggest it often serves as an option when other parks are fully booked and caters to longer-term stays, its pricing structure likely emphasizes monthly or extended stay rates rather than short-term promotional deals. RV parks that focus on long-term residents typically offer a more economical per-night rate when booking for a month or longer compared to daily or weekly rates.
For any current rates, availability, or potential offers, it is essential for interested Texans to contact the park directly. When calling, inquiries should be made regarding:

It is advisable to call during standard business hours to ensure a direct conversation with the owner or management. Given the varied public feedback, direct communication allows prospective tenants to ask specific questions about park policies, site conditions, and any concerns they might have, helping to manage expectations before a commitment is made. This is particularly important for long-term stays where understanding the park's operational style is crucial for a comfortable experience.
For Texans navigating the diverse landscape of RV accommodations, HI-Cotton RV Park in McQueeney presents itself as a distinct option, particularly suitable for certain local needs and circumstances. While public feedback offers a mixed perspective, understanding its niche makes it a viable choice for specific segments of the Texas RV community.
Firstly, its suitability for locals often comes down to practicality and availability. In the popular Central Texas region, RV parks, especially those offering long-term stays, can be fully booked, particularly during peak seasons or due to the area's ongoing growth. For Texans moving for work (as one review mentioned) or those needing a temporary, functional base when other options are exhausted, HI-Cotton RV Park might fill a critical void. It provides the essential hookups needed for an RV to function as a home, which is the primary requirement for many long-term residents.
Secondly, the park's focus on long-term residency, implied by the nature of the reviews, means it caters to a different dynamic than a short-term recreational campground. For Texans seeking a stable, cost-effective place to park their RV for months at a time, this park could offer a solution, potentially at a more accessible price point compared to resort-style alternatives. The potential for electric vehicle charging, as highlighted by a positive review, also adds a modern, practical utility that would appeal to EV owners looking for convenient power sources while on the road or settled for an extended period.
Lastly, for locals who prioritize function over extensive amenities and are prepared to manage expectations based on varied feedback, HI-Cotton RV Park offers a no-frills approach to RV living in a desirable Central Texas location. It serves as a practical, potentially more affordable base from which to commute to nearby jobs, access the recreational opportunities of Lake McQueeney, or explore the attractions of New Braunfels and the wider Hill Country. For Texans in specific situations where securing a long-term RV spot is the primary goal, HI-Cotton RV Park remains an option to consider, with direct communication being key to ensuring it aligns with individual expectations.

If I could give ZERO stars, I would. The owner, Tony, here is HORRIBLY disrespectful and sexist. He absolutely refused to communicate with me about any issues and specifically said he "talks to the man of the house." I would be home, and instead of knocking on the door to talk, he would call my husband at work. He turned off our water multiple times while we were using it without saying anything first, because there was a slow, small drip after the freeze that took a little longer to fix because all stores were sold out of supplies. He would come move our stuff without talking to us. Then, when I finally did get him to talk to me, I told him to let me know about stuff that needed to be moved, he said okay, then continued to move stuff without any communication. He also proceeded to call my husband after I talked with him and told him that we had to be out by the first, because it was too much trouble. He has continued to mess with our stuff, usually when he sees that both of our cars are gone, and has walked away from me several more times when I again tried to discuss it. He can be heard outside yelling at his wife. He yelled at us for speeding, saying we were going 7-8 mph, even though my speedometer clearly said 5mph. We don't have a dog but another customer did and complained their dog was expected to be leashed while Tony's dog roams all over the property freely. The place looks like a junkyard with literal piles of trash on the property. There are little to no amenities to speak of, other customers complain of the washer/dryer not working, and it's not close to anything. The only reason we are here is because everywhere was completely booked, and we moved to the area for my husband's job. Beyond thrilled to get out of this place.
Mar 25, 2021 · Anaya CrowI'm not an RV owner, but we are vacation renting a home on Lake McQueeney and needed a place to charge our Tesla before heading out in the morning. I called Tony and he couldn't have been more accommodating, inviting me to come over and plug in for a reasonable fee. His new NEMA 14-50 sockets sure beat the trickle of 120VAC.
May 26, 2019 · Scott AltorferHi-Cotton is a nice and quiet RV park. We visited over Memorial Day weekend. It’s very quiet. We went to float the River and saw RV campgrounds that were packed to the brim; this place was not. There was enough space between the sites to not feel you were on top of your neighbor. When we started researching where to go, this place had a mix between positive and negative reviews. Tony and his wife were so nice! We were caught in a horrible storm on the way up from Houston and had to park overnight and wait out the storm before getting to the campsite. They called and checked on us during the storm and again in the morning, when we were on our way. Tony checked in on us and made sure we had everything we needed, and if we had any questions. He was very friendly with us and helped us find a place to float the River. There is some old equipment on the property and his plans to clean it up and what improvements he plans on making. We will definitely be back!
May 31, 2021 · Jessica SpackmanCalm and quiet place to live. Gated which we like because it made us feel safe. There are rules just like any other rv park. Affordable and the spots are spacious. Tony (the owner) made us feel welcome and was always there to help if we needed it. He was more than happy to help us move our 5th wheel back to our winter monthly place without question which was very nice. Couldn’t have done it without his help. Also has a very sweet dog :)
Oct 21, 2022 · Miranda SchriewerGreat overall experience!! Tony was able to repair some rear damage I received on my RV in a timely manner that kept it on a timeline I presented to him that was important to me. Tony seemed to really care more about my experience with his service instead of maximizing profit out of me.
