Hillview Acres Campground About
For many of us living in Ohio, the call of the great outdoors is a strong one, especially when seeking a break from routine or a chance to reconnect with nature. In the heart of Guernsey County, just off I-77, lies Hillview Acres Campground in Cambridge, a local option that holds significant potential for campers looking for a straightforward and well-maintained base for their adventures.
Hillview Acres Campground offers a traditional camping experience with a focus on providing essential amenities for both RV and tent campers. It’s designed to be a comfortable stopover for travelers or a peaceful retreat for those looking to explore the surrounding natural beauty of southeastern Ohio. The campground aims to provide a clean and orderly environment, which is often a top priority for campers.
Customer feedback, while mixed, offers valuable insights into the experience here. Some visitors highlight the convenience of its location near the interstate and praise the owners for being "very nice and friendly." These guests appreciated receiving a "quiet shady spot" and noted that the "campground is well kept..no trash anywhere." This positive experience suggests that for short-term stays or those seeking a peaceful, clean site, Hillview Acres Campground can be a solid choice. The absence of long-term campers during certain times also contributed to a feeling of having the "area all to ourselves," which is a huge bonus for those prioritizing tranquility.
However, it's also important to acknowledge all perspectives. Some reviews from seasonal campers point to challenges regarding strict and potentially inconsistent rules, particularly concerning guest parking and maintenance issues with some on-site structures like decks. Instances of communication difficulties and disputes with the owner have also been reported by some long-term occupants. This suggests that while the transient camping experience may be positive, seasonal or long-term renters might encounter different aspects of management style.
Despite these mixed long-term sentiments, the consensus for short-term visitors leans towards a clean, well-located campground with friendly owners, making it a viable option for many Ohioans looking for a convenient and peaceful camping stop. It’s a place that, when approached with clarity on expectations, can offer a satisfying outdoor experience.

Customer Reviews
This campground has a lot of potential to be a great place to camp but unfortunately the owner is holding it back. You can only have 2 cars per campsite so guests are very limited if at all, was told there’s always an option for your guests to park 6 miles down the road at the park and ride and you can go get them……oh and no parking at open sites. A lot of the decks are delapilated and your foot will go thru them when you walk across. Seasonal campers that are “lifers” are given more leeway on the “rules” than the average seasonal camper. Six weeks prior to opening day, contacted to the owner to pull my camper out so I could get it serviced before the season opened, said he would then ignored every phone call and refused to answer the door. On opening day, tried to pull out the camper myself and got yelled at by the owner and was told I was banned from returning to the campground. Good thing I wasn’t going back!!!
We stopped here on a Sunday evening while traveling down I 77. It is close to the interstate. The owners are very nice and friendly. We asked for a quiet shady spot and that is exactly what we got. The campground is well kept..no trash anywhere. We did not use the bathhouse so i do not know what it was like. The long term campers were not here..it was Sunday night...so we had the area all to ourselves...ahhhhhh ! We will be be back if/when we pass through this way again.
Camp sites for in and out camping spots are on top of a hill. Very picturesque. Lots of trees and views are nice. It is a very hilly area, so some campsites are not level. Nothing is paved. Nice staff. Thet drive you to your spot, which is nice as layout of the park is a bit difficult to figure out. No wifi. Got a few channels from TV antenna. Permanent residents are in a different location which I personally liked. Very quiet as you really are in the sticks here. Dump station very handily located and easy to use. Gravel roads to top of the hill, so without a 4 wheel drive, it can be tricky, if you are pulling something heavy. I would go back.
Men groom the extremely large park daily. Sites are more than adequate in size with "huge yards and lots of shade". Spacing distance amongst campers is amazingly distant, making for a nice quiet place to be. Mr. John is a friendly gentleman and speaks true to the size of fish in the "two" large catch and release ponds available for guest fishing. My comments are only a few .... come see for yourself. We are still out catching fish!!!
Stayed in the cabin for the deerassic classic in 2017. It was honestly more like a small shed but we're not very picky people and for the price it was amazing. The 10 mph speed limit was an issue just for the fact I drive a small front wheel drive sedan and with the steep gravel hills I kicked up their gravel a little bit and I felt bad but hey not much you can do. Plan on staying again in 2018.
