Introduction / Overview
For New York residents eager to trade the city skyline for the breathtaking natural beauty of the Catskill Mountains and the Upper Delaware Scenic & Recreational River, Kittatinny Canoes - K-Camp in Barryville, NY, has long been advertised as an ultimate outdoor escape. This expansive, 250-acre campground is renowned as a one-stop destination for river enthusiasts, combining riverside camping with a variety of exhilarating water and land-based adventures. Strategically positioned along the Delaware River, K-Camp is part of the long-standing Kittatinny Canoes operation, a pioneer in the river outfitting industry with a history spanning over 80 years.
K-Camp offers a diverse range of accommodations, from secluded tent sites nestled in the woods to full hook-up RV spots and rustic cabins. The central appeal is the seamless access to the Delaware River, allowing guests to effortlessly transition from campsite to river trip. With its commitment to providing a blend of relaxation and high-energy activity, the location promotes itself as the perfect spot for friends, families, and groups looking to immerse themselves in a memorable outdoor experience. However, prospective guests should note that, as a large and popular commercial operation, the experience can sometimes be heavily influenced by fellow campers and adherence to policies, which some visitors have noted can occasionally detract from the quiet, high-value getaway they seek.
While the promise of immediate river access and a wealth of activities is a huge draw—making it an attractive option for a convenient weekend escape from the Tri-State area—recent user feedback indicates that availability of advertised activities and consistency in campground management may vary. The overall intent of K-Camp is to be the premier adventure hub on the Delaware River, and its extensive offerings certainly provide the framework for a fun-filled New York getaway. Guests are encouraged to plan and confirm all specific activity rentals and camp policies in advance to ensure their trip aligns perfectly with their expectations.
Location and Accessibility
Kittatinny Canoes - K-Camp is situated at 3854 NY-97, Barryville, NY 12719, USA. This location places it directly on the scenic Upper Delaware River, about 14 miles south of the picturesque village of Narrowsburg, deep within the Catskill Mountains region of Sullivan County. This part of New York State is celebrated for its pristine natural environment and outdoor recreation opportunities.
Accessibility from the New York Metro Area is relatively straightforward, typically involving a scenic two-to-three-hour drive. Travelers often utilize major routes heading Northwest, such as Route 17/I-86 or I-84, before connecting to the dramatic and beautiful State Route 97—often called the "Upper Delaware Scenic Byway"—which runs right past the campground. Its location on this highway makes K-Camp easy to find, yet its sprawling 250 acres ensure that campers still feel removed from the everyday hustle.
The camp's direct riverfront positioning is its greatest geographical asset, making on-site check-in for water trips extremely convenient. However, the remote nature of the location means that once inside the campground, the services and activities advertised are what you will primarily rely on. Users should be mindful that cell service can sometimes be spotty in the area, which, while great for disconnecting, means essential communication should be handled via the main office line when possible.

Kittatinny Canoes - K-Camp offers a comprehensive set of services to facilitate an all-in-one camping and adventure experience on the Delaware River.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
Kittatinny Canoes - K-Camp is highly suitable for New York locals primarily because it offers a convenient and comprehensive "adventure hub" experience without the need for extensive travel. Situated just a few hours from the metropolitan area, it represents an accessible slice of the Catskills wilderness and the unique recreational opportunities provided by the Delaware River. For a New Yorker, the ability to pack up, drive a short distance, and immediately engage in multiple activities—from a leisurely river float to a high-flying zipline adventure—is a significant advantage.
The appeal of K-Camp is the promise of an action-packed, all-in-one outdoor vacation where the hassle of coordinating separate lodging and river outfitting is removed. However, as documented by recent guests, the experience at a large, bustling campground may not always align with the expectation of a quiet, pristine wilderness retreat. Locals considering a stay should treat it as a lively, commercial recreational center rather than a secluded state park. They must actively confirm the availability of all desired activities (like specific watercraft rentals) and be prepared for the atmosphere that comes with a high-volume, group-friendly destination, which may include noise from neighboring sites.
Ultimately, for families, groups, or individuals who prioritize an abundance of available on-site activities and easy river access over peace and solitude, and who take proactive steps to confirm all booking details, K-Camp remains a viable and attractive option for an adrenaline-fueled, convenient New York outdoor getaway. It is a place that promises adventure on the scenic Delaware, provided expectations are carefully managed against the realities of a very popular, high-traffic commercial campground.

We booked two cabins for two nights at this campsite from 8/27/25 to 8/29/25. One of the main reasons we chose this location was because it advertised kayak rentals on-site. Unfortunately, upon check-in, we were told that kayaks were not available for rental during our stay. This was very disappointing since kayaking was a key part of our trip plans, and it forced us to travel to another campground just to rent them—causing both inconvenience and lost time. The cabins themselves were fairly plain, and while the site location was decent, nothing really stood out as special. For the price charged per cabin, we honestly expected more in terms of amenities and overall experience. At check-out on 8/29/25 at 11 AM, one of my relatives returned both cabin keys to the front desk. The rest of us remained by the cabins for just a few minutes, casually chatting about where to go for breakfast before leaving. Within five minutes, a young female staff member drove up in a golf cart and asked where we had been staying. She then told us that after check-out, guests are not allowed to linger on the property. While we understand policies must be followed, the interaction felt unnecessarily abrupt and made us feel targeted—especially since it was only minutes after officially handing over the keys. Overall, between the lack of kayak rentals, the underwhelming cabins, the high prices, and the uncomfortable experience at check-out, this stay did not meet our expectations.
Aug 30, 2025 · Wazir AliI recently stayed at Luke's Landing and had a terrible experience. Despite being told that quiet hours were strictly enforced after 10pm, my group was kept awake until 4 am by neighboring campers who were playing loud music, had bright lights/car headlights facing our camp and disco lights. I was unable to find any staff on patrol or at the main office to address the issue, and the posted helpline went unanswered. I had asked the neighbors multiple times to please lower the volume and turn their lights off but to no success. To add to the disappointment, the field near our campsite was littered with deer scat. The next day, we were scheduled for a tubing trip. We were bussed out to the launch point only to be told by a participant in the water that conditions were terrible. After asking the staff what was happening, they advised that the trip was canceled due to poor river conditions. While Kittatinny did refund us for the tubing, we ended up leaving a full day early because of the overall poor experience. We were still charged for the entire stay, which I find unacceptable and unfair. I have spent over $400 on a ruined weekend and am requesting a full refund. I have attempted to contact management and am awaiting a callback The attached photos & videos were taken at 3am, I have other photos & videos that can be provided to management once they reach out.
Aug 25, 2025 · Anthony CardilloWe had a really great time staying on the Mountain Side for Labor Day Weekend. The stream was beautiful clear water flowing through stones and rocks loudly with several walking bridges and a driving bridge crossing it. The bathhouses were fine, only the mens showers near the playground were working and hot, both womens showers worked. There was loud partying until 3-4am a little much. Campgrounds were overflowing with happiness and good energy. Parking at your campsite, roads had some pot holes, drive with care. Come and go as you please. Trash seemed to be picked up from campsites in the mornings. Campsites all seemed to have picnic table, fire ring, and trashcan. Almost everyone was tent camping during our stay. We didnt see any animals, other than 4 vultures after everyone left. Some bugs but, less than we expected. No cell service for probably 30 minutes in every direction so plan in advance or stop at a business with wifi. Staff was nice, store was busy, had most of the things we needed.
Sep 03, 2025 · Chris FranciaFirst time coming here. Everyone in our group loved it. It was a unique riverside experience unlike any other camping trip we have ever been on. Plenty to do for the kids and the water activities(tubing/kayaking) offered on the Delaware was super fun for us adults as well. Definitely coming back.
Sep 08, 2025 · PaulMy family just had the best experience staying at Kittatinny. We stayed in one of the cabins and it was a great experience. Having pet friendly cabins was awesome because we could bring our dogs, and everyone was so friendly. The rafting trip was so much fun and everyone was helpful along the way. We will definitely be coming back.
