Customer Reviews
We pulled into a snowy campground looking for a place to park our camper and stay a few days peacefully. This place has a fantastic babbling creek that runs behind each campsite. Someone had left wood from their visit, so we easily built a great fire and enjoyed the mountain air. It was snowy, but the roads were gravel and manageable. We met several neighbors to the area, who were all very friendly and helpful. The bathhouse is closed until March, but overall, this was a beautiful experience. The town of Buena Vista was just down the mountain with all you need for camping. Loved this opportunity and would do it again! (There were 2 other campers during our 3 day stay, that camped from their vehicles, they were super friendly.)
Really enjoyed our spot. Fairly easy drive on but the POSTED signs while driving in made us think we ended up on the wrong road for a bit. Once past that we were able to gain access to a wide open campsite right next to the creek. Plenty of fresh water, nice fire pit, and several spots to pitch our tent. Other than the trash left by previous campers it was perfect here.
Stayed here for 4 days this April/May 2025 and loved my site right on the creek. There were only a few other campers but they were not near me. Loved listening to the creek babbling by and butterflies galore. It's a shame there's no one that could keep it mowed and cleaned up more. Wish I lived close because I'd help take care of it. I left a painted Rock for the next camper at this site. Will add pictures later.
Beautiful, secluded National Forest camping area. (Free and usable for 21 days) There are several sites by the river (with enough space for an RV) and a few in the field and woods. Also there are more sites up the gravel road. There are also 2 pit toilets, which is nice. It can get muddy here when it rains and flooding could be an issue, but aside from that it's a great place!
My husband and I have camped here in years past. However it’s almost a homeless encampment last time we went. It was in the end of September and during the week. We couldn’t believe what we saw. Lots of tarps strung up on lines next to a broken down van. Looked like tent city. We didn’t feel safe. LOTS of trash left behind over by the old fireplace wall. We couldn’t believe what we saw and were heart broken by it. Please keep these places safe and beautiful. Don’t disrespect it. Hopefully it doesn’t keep going down hill. We used to live this place.
