This is a fantastic campground! The beach is practically private, bathrooms were typical state park bathrooms but kept very tidy and well stocked. When we first arrived it was early in the camping season so we had to call in to register, that was a horrible experience as the operator first tried to tell us we weren't supposed to call in and almost hung up on us. That is an admin problem not a campground problem, so 5-stars for Sand Lake!

It’s alright. The location is really good, with the campground situated along Sand Lake, featuring a small beach and access to plenty of short and long hiking trails. The small playground is a nice touch to keep kids occupied, though it is a bit worn out and could use some attention. The biggest gripe is the condition of the bathrooms, they haven’t been updated in what seems like a very long time. During our stay, both hand dryers in each bathroom were also out of order, which was frustrating. Hopefully, maintenance issues like this will be addressed soon, as the setting itself has a lot of potential.

I love this place and visit at least annually. It's small and quaint and pretty quiet during the week. I get a spot right on the beach and love just enjoying the scenery. Be sure to pick up your firewood and fresh produce and eggs at the farm on the corner (CA Lamont Farms.) You won't be disappointed.

Small, clean, amazing little place tucked into 7 lakes state park. Rangers are amazing! The playground is small but always filled with kids. The beach is perfect, and if you get the right site, it's right behind you. Rent a kayak or canoe and do some fishing. Or hike one of the many trails they have. Restrooms and showers were always clean. Bring an extension cord. Some boxes are farther away, and you may need it.
