For local Missouri users, the accessibility of Tea Lakes is a key advantage. Based on the rich customer testimonials, Tea Lakes offers a range of services centered around providing an excellent fishing and camping experience. While a comprehensive list of all modern amenities might require direct inquiry, the historical and current appeal suggests the following:
- Campsites: Options for camping out, implying traditional tent camping and potentially RV spots, though specific hookup information would need confirmation. The focus is on providing a base for extended stays in nature.
- Boat Rentals: Historically, John boats and paddles were available for rent, which is a crucial service for accessing the excellent fishing opportunities on the lakes. It's hoped this service continues.
- Fishing Access: The primary service and highlight of Tea Lakes, offering outstanding fishing across its beautiful lakes. This includes access to various types of fish, such as record catfish and bass.
- Well-Kept Grounds: A consistent theme from reviews is the excellent maintenance and care of the property, ensuring a pleasant and clean environment for campers and anglers.
- Caretaker Services: The presence of "salt of the earth" caretakers who are highly praised for their welcoming nature and assistance. This suggests on-site support and a personal touch in managing the campground.
- Membership Option: Indicated as a conservation area where one can "sign up to be a member and go all year long," suggesting a membership program for frequent visitors.
- Peaceful Environment: While not a tangible "service," the provision of a quiet and not overcrowded camping experience is a key offering.
Tea Lakes boasts several outstanding features and highlights that make it a truly memorable destination for Missouri locals:
- Exceptional Fishing: This is undoubtedly the crowning jewel of Tea Lakes. Decades of accounts testify to "outstanding" fishing, with records of large catfish and 7-8 pound bass. For any angler in Missouri, this is a must-visit location.
- Stunning Natural Beauty: Described as "one of the most beautiful sets of lakes," the visual appeal of Tea Lakes is a major highlight. The clear skies at night for stargazing are also noted as a profound experience.
- Secluded and Not Overcrowded: Unlike some more commercialized campgrounds, Tea Lakes offers a peaceful and uncrowded environment, allowing for genuine relaxation and immersion in nature. This is highly valued by those seeking tranquility.
- Sense of Nostalgia and Tradition: For many, like the long-time visitor from Texas, Tea Lakes holds deep personal significance and is a place where cherished childhood memories were made. This speaks to its enduring quality and family-friendly atmosphere.
- Dedicated Caretakers: The consistent praise for the "salt of the earth" caretakers highlights a level of personal care and welcoming hospitality that enhances the visitor experience.
- Variety of Fish: The presence of both catfish and bass, among other species, ensures a diverse and engaging fishing experience for different preferences.
- Conservation Area Status: Being part of a conservation area implies a commitment to environmental preservation and potentially a focus on sustainable outdoor recreation.
- Potential for Boat Rentals: The hope that John boats and paddles are still available signifies a feature that greatly enhances the ability to explore the lakes and access prime fishing spots.
Based on the available information, Tea Lakes operates more as a conservation area with a membership model for year-round access, rather than a typical campground with frequent public promotions.
- Membership Program: The most notable "offer" is the ability to "sign up to be a member and go all year long." This suggests that dedicated anglers and campers can gain continuous access through a membership, which would be a significant value for frequent visitors. Specific membership tiers, costs, and what they include (e.g., unlimited camping, boating access) would need to be confirmed directly with Tea Lakes management.
- Daily/Weekly Rates: For non-members or those preferring shorter stays, there would likely be daily or weekly camping/fishing rates. These would need to be verified.
Given the nature of the reviews, which emphasize long-term fondness and a membership model, it's highly recommended that prospective visitors, especially those looking for extended or frequent stays, directly inquire about the membership options and benefits. For short-term visits, contacting them for current rates and availability is the best approach.

I wish I had pics, but growing up, I traveled to St. Louis from Texas, every summer, and my Great Uncle Jerry Tarbell (may still have record catches there) would take me fishing and camping for a week. It was the highlight of my summers and some of the fondest childhood memories I still hold dear. My dear uncle passed at 101 yrs old last year, and this place has been on my mind a lot. I actually won a trophy 1 summer for a record catfish I pulled out of there. I'm sure that record has since been broken, but I still have that trophy. It's one of the most beautiful sets of lakes I've ever seen, even to this day. The fishing is outstanding. My uncle used to brag about the 7-8 pound bass he'd pull out of there on the far shore. They had John boats and paddles to rent and hope they still do because this place is calling me back these 25+ years later. I'm thinking of arranging a trip with my wife for her 50th birthday later this summer. My uncle and I would stay a week and camp out, and we always had plenty of legal catches, early in the morning and well into the night. The caretakers, throughout the years, were always the best! Truly "salt of the earth," folks and I doubt that's changed either. I remember the caretaker had a daughter and son who were really fun to hang out with. They taught this city boy how to gig frogs and always knew the best places to see snakes or wildlife. I doubt they're the caretakers anymore, but those memories plus the beauty, the good fishing, and the well-kept grounds made this a PERFECT place to spend summers growing up. I never wanted to leave, and I miss those starry nights where the number of stars appeared like little grains of sand on a velvet black background. Looking it up on Google, makes me want to come spend a week like I used to when I was a kid, and I hope the fishing is just as fantastic as it was 25 years ago. I'm sure they are. Whoever chose the caretakers always did a fantastic job! I can't speak highly enough of Tea Lakes. It will forever be ingrained in my memories. God willing, I'll be visiting soon, again, from Texas....with love and fondness.
Conservation area, sign up to be a member and go all year long. Great place to camp thats not overcrowded. Beautiful sights
Vagamon also known as the 'Scotland of Asia'. National Geographic Traveler has listed Vagamon on their directory of the "50 most attractive places to visit in India". I Visited this Place on last week of june,on afternoon time, it is close to my house, so i went on Public transport, The Lake is Just walkable distance from Bus stop ( less than 800 meters ) The lake is not big one, but variety of boats are there. There is a small foot bridge on which you can seat putting your feet into water and relax. There is benches and it is very close to lake or you can sit on green meadows. The backdrop of the tea plantation gives it added beauty. Advice to people Please don't visit this place during summer. Visit in the morning or evening more attractive. You should reach before 5pm to try out boating. Ticket rate 50 include boating and entry You can eassily spend 2 to 5 Hours. Intresting point is there is a Marsey Ferguson Tractor which was built in 1962 in England and it is exhibited in a shed on the lake side. The adventure activities in the Lake run by Perfect Tense Adventure, the place have a very limited resources still lots of Activities like ATV Ride @ ₹200.00 Water zorb @ ₹100.00, Paintball @ ₹150.00, Archery, Taget Shooting, Tree Jumaring, Burma Bridge., Zipline, climbing wall, Trampolines etc.
Love this place because it's peaceful and relaxing! Glen has already has done alot of clearing the trail's and getting the weeds so you can fish better and trying to thin out the willows, way to many. Love the house! Looks better in real life. Blue REALLY love's it out here. Come and visit, enjoy fishing, trail's to walk and boats to rent. Having meat shoot March 25th . Have activities thru the summer. Watch to see what's going on and when!
A wonderful rustic experience. Would appreciate water and power at the camp sites if we wanted, though.
