Introduction / Overview
For New Hampshire locals seeking the quintessential Seacoast camping experience, Wakeda Campground in Hampton Falls stands out as a premier destination. Spanning an impressive 180 acres of lush woodland, Wakeda is more than just a campground; it is a massive, friendly, and meticulously maintained family destination. Established and continually run by the Savage family for over six decades, this multi-generational ownership ensures a level of dedication and welcoming atmosphere that few large parks can match. Guests consistently describe the staff as "super friendly" and "very welcoming," creating a community environment where "neighbors were cool" and the atmosphere is defined by "respectful families enjoying nature," rather than loud, disruptive activity.
Wakeda is deceptively large—so expansive that a guest humorously noted it took "a couple trys around on the bike to not get lost." This vast size allows the campground to offer a wide variety of over 400 sites, ranging from secluded, rustic tent sites to expansive, full-hookup pull-thru spots capable of accommodating the largest modern RVs. While some sites are noted to be "a little close," the prevailing environment is quiet and peaceful, situated beneath a canopy of towering pines that offer tranquility and shade. Located just a short drive from Hampton Beach and other major Seacoast attractions, Wakeda Campground perfectly balances the desire for peaceful nature immersion with convenient access to shopping, dining, and shoreline activities, making it an ideal long-term or short-stay option for NH residents.
Location and Accessibility
Wakeda Campground’s location at 294 Exeter Rd, Hampton Falls, NH 03844, USA, is a significant advantage for local users. Situated just off Route 88, the park is highly accessible yet retains a secluded feel, being located "a mile off the road" and entirely "surrounded by woods." This dual benefit of accessibility and tranquility is key to its appeal.
Logistically, Wakeda is perfectly positioned as a hub for exploring the entire New Hampshire Seacoast and beyond. It is only about eight miles, or roughly a 10-minute drive, from the bustling attractions and sands of Hampton Beach. For day trips, local users appreciate the quick, approximately 20-minute drive to historic Portsmouth, the Kittery Outlets in Maine, and Newburyport, MA. Furthermore, its proximity to major routes means it is conveniently located for those needing access to local businesses, such as the Sig Sauer facility (approximately 20 minutes away). The provision of a secure entrance gate with a code is a feature that provides local guests with an added sense of security and controlled access, enhancing the peaceful atmosphere. The flexible check-out time for RVs at 2:00 PM also provides a generous benefit for locals who may be looking to maximize their last day of relaxation.

Just made it back home from here. We had a great time. The campground was awesome . Took me a couple trys around on the bike to not get lost lol. It is a big campground. Bigger than what I thought it was going to be. Yes the sites are a little close to one another but that was OK for us. Staff was super friendly, bathrooms were cleaned on the regular, all of our neighbors were cool. All in all we had a great time and would definitely camp here again
Aug 24, 2025 · Duane CassavaughClean & quiet campground. It's deceptively massive! No groups of wild kids on golf carts screaming around here; just respectful families enjoying nature. Clean bathrooms & laundry room ($2.75: quarters only). Heads up; no pool here. Love the 1400hrs check out time for RVs. Love that there is a gate at the entrance with a code! Love that there is a separate dumpster for recycling! Convenient location: Just over 30mins to Kittery & 20ish mins to Sig Sauer. Looking forward to coming back!
