- Fresh Water Access: Campers have access to "fresh water." This is a crucial service for both tent and RV campers, providing potable water for drinking, cooking, and basic hygiene.
- RV Dump Station: A dedicated "RV dump station" is available. This allows RVers to conveniently empty their black and grey water tanks, a vital service for maintaining sanitary conditions during extended stays.
- Clean Restroom Facilities: The campground features "very clean" bathrooms. The cleanliness of shared facilities like restrooms is a highly valued aspect for campers, greatly contributing to a pleasant and comfortable experience.
- Self-Registration and Payment: The campground operates on a self-registration basis, where campers pay fees at a "drop box." This system offers flexibility for arrivals, particularly for late-night check-ins, as noted by one reviewer.
- Pet-Friendly Environment: The campground provides "Plenty of room for pets to roam," indicating a welcoming environment for visitors traveling with their animal companions. (Standard leash laws typically apply).
These services collectively position Blue Valley Camping Area as a practical, clean, and affordable option for a wide range of campers in Nebraska.
Blue Valley Camping Area offers several key features and highlights that make it an attractive and functional choice for campers in Nebraska, particularly for those seeking affordability, peace, and practical amenities.
- Exceptional Affordability: A major highlight is its very low cost, with tent camping available for just "$10." While the RV rates are not explicitly stated, the overall pricing structure suggests a budget-friendly option. This affordability makes quality camping accessible to a wider audience, from cross-country travelers to local families.
- Clean and Well-Maintained Facilities: Reviewers specifically praise the campground itself as "nice, clean," and the "bathroom was very clean." The cleanliness of shared facilities like restrooms is paramount for a comfortable camping experience, and this consistent feedback highlights a commitment to upkeep.
- Ample Flat Areas for Tents: For tent campers, having "plenty of flat areas for tents" is a significant advantage. This ensures easier setup and a more comfortable night's sleep, avoiding uneven ground.
- Electric Hookups for RVs: The provision of both 50 amp (3 sites) and 30 amp (9 sites) electric hookups caters to various RV needs, allowing campers to power their vehicles and appliances. This is a crucial amenity for modern RV travel.
- Fresh Water and RV Dump Station: The availability of fresh water and a dedicated RV dump station provides essential services for RVers, ensuring they can replenish water supplies and conveniently dispose of waste, making extended stays more manageable.
- "Family Safe" Environment: One reviewer explicitly describes the campground as "Family safe." This indicates a welcoming and secure environment, which is a top priority for families traveling with children, fostering peace of mind for parents.
- "Plenty of Room for Pets to Roam": This highlight makes the campground very appealing to pet owners, ensuring their furry companions have space to enjoy the outdoors (presumably within leash regulations).
- Strategic Location as a "Base Camp": The campground is highlighted as a "not a bad place to stay and relax or temporarily base camp, with you go out and explore Lincoln, for about two or three days." This strategic location allows campers to enjoy the quiet of Seward while easily commuting to explore the attractions, dining, and events in Nebraska's capital city, Lincoln.
These features collectively position Blue Valley Camping Area as a practical, clean, and highly affordable destination that serves well as either a convenient stopover or a comfortable base for exploring the rich offerings of southeastern Nebraska.
Blue Valley Camping Area, as a city-run campground, offers its most significant "promotion" through its consistently affordable pricing structure. Unlike larger commercial campgrounds that might feature complex seasonal discounts or loyalty programs, the primary value proposition here is the accessible daily rate for essential services.
The most prominent and direct "offer" is:
- Exceptional Tent Camping Rate: At just "$10 for tent camping," Blue Valley Camping Area provides an incredibly budget-friendly option for traditional campers. This low cost makes it an attractive choice for individuals or small groups looking for an economical outdoor experience.
- Affordable RV Hookups: While the specific daily rate for RV electric hookups isn't explicitly stated in the reviews, the overall context of an affordable city-run campground suggests these rates would also be highly competitive, especially considering the availability of 30 amp and 50 amp service.
As a municipal facility, it typically operates on fixed fee schedules rather than dynamic promotions. However, it’s worth considering that:
- Long-Term Stay Value: While not a formal promotion, the implicit suggestion that it's a "good place to stay and relax or temporarily base camp, with you go out and explore Lincoln, for about two or three days" hints that their pricing for multi-day or potentially weekly stays remains very attractive, offering excellent value for extended visits.
- First-Come, First-Served Access: The self-registration system allows for flexible arrivals, which can be a convenience for spontaneous trips, essentially offering "on-demand" camping without the need for advance reservations. This is a "special offer" of flexibility, especially for those traveling late at night.
For the most precise and current pricing details on RV sites, or any specific inquiries regarding potential extended stay rates, it is always recommended to contact Blue Valley Camping Area directly via the provided phone number. Their consistent affordability, however, is a standing invitation for campers across Nebraska.

Customer Reviews
I wanted to like this place based on other reviews, but I had a bad experience. I arrived around 10:00pm while traveling to Fort Collins, CO, payed the fee ($10 for tent camping) at the drop box and returned to my car to set up my tent. While I was pulling my camping backpack out, a female police officer drove up to my car, asking what I was doing here. After pointing out the sign and confirming this spot was for tent camping, she asked me for ID and accused me of being a murder... She never identified herself as a law enforcement officer. The campground itself is nice, clean, and has plenty of flat areas for tents. The bathroom was very clean. Due to my poor experience with what I assume to be a city police officer, I will never return to this city-run campsite or to this city ever again.
Not a bad place to stay and relax or temporarily base camp, with you go out and explore Lincoln, for about two or three days. We recommend it. It's Family safe. There is fresh water and RV dump station. The sites only provide (3)50 & (9) 30 amp electric hook-ups. Plenty of room for pets to roam.
Pulled in here about 8pm on a Sunday and there was plenty of room. $7 tent and $10 camper. Electricity worked and there is a water spigot you can use. Bathroom is a portable. Grounds are nicely mowed and clean. I would stay here again.
This campground is decent for a quick stay, but it could use some improvements. The lack of shower houses is noticeable, especially since there are no water hookups. Only porta potty avaliable that did not even have sanitizer. Gross. We visited in the fall, so it was quite empty, but I can imagine it would feel cramped if it were full. Overall, it’s a nice spot for a brief visit, but adding some amenities would enhance the experience.
Loved the place! Simple and all you need for a stop on the road. Have cash to pay the camping fee. I would just be aware if it's going to rain or not as it's low to the river and you risk flooding.
