We have really enjoyed our stay at Austin Oaks RV. We are full-time RVers, so have experienced lots of RV parks over the last several years. Every park has their own pros/cons. The old growth oak trees are really a great addition to the ambiance...the shade & beauty added from them is tremendous. One of the more beautiful sites we've had since we like trees. No awning needed to the tree cover. The employees are awesome. Always friendly & wave when driving/walking by. Erica is especially great...she always answered our questions & calls us back when she says she will. She always made herself available for us. Most of the sites appear to be permanent residents, but sites are still kept fairly un-cluttered. We would definitely stay here again. The pool made up for any cons I have listed below! The cons didn't really bother us (mostly) & aren't meant to be nit picky, but to let others know what to expect. Pros: POOL (very clean, well maintained); pet-friendly with poop bags close no matter where you are; paved for great walking (1 mile per GPS if you do the roadways); restrooms, showers & laundry facilities are nice overall; cash card system for laundry eliminates the need for quarters); large covered area with tables, chairs/rocking chairs for relaxing, playing cards, etc. when it's raining & you don't want to be in your RV; the park is very quiet overall; propane on-site (altho we didn't use); covered or uncovered sites available; gated entrance; community fire pit & BBQ in the pool area which is great for gatherings; overall pretty well maintained; Cons: We prefer to walk/bike, but it's about 8 miles to the closest grocery in Bastrop, so be prepared to drive for shopping (which we knew from doing our research); cost of a background check due to location next to school; no clubhouse, so no place to hang out if the weather is really adverse (i.e. windy, blowing rain); roadways are not kept super clean (lots of rocks/pebbles from people pulling out & lawn mower or tractor/grader that refreshes the sites between use; there is a high school football field behind our site (on the side of the RV park) that starts practice at 6:30am on the weekdays, so the noise (whistle, LOUD/HORRIBLE music over the PA system) from that could be irritating to some depending on where your site is located; restroom/shower facilities don't appear to be monitored/checked daily as TP is out for several days, people leave soap/shampoo in the shower that had to be moved so the niche could be used (not the parks fault, just inconsiderate people); shower curtains are hung too high (& unable to be adjusted), so floors get soaked when taking a shower;
Jun 06, 2025 · Roz StoreyAbsolutely loved our stay at Great Escapes! The park is beautifully maintained, with clean and well-landscaped sites. Our RV site was spacious, and the hookups were easy to connect to. The staff “Erika” was incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome. We appreciated the complimentary amenities like the pool, fireplaces, and bbq area. The park is also conveniently located near Bastrop TX and Austin TX, which made our day trips very enjoyable. We would definitely recommend this park to anyone looking for a great RV experience!
