Promotions or Special Offers

- Off-Season Rates: Lower rates might be available during the shoulder seasons (spring and fall) when demand is slightly less than peak summer. Mid-September, as noted in a review, already indicates a good time to visit, potentially with fewer crowds.
- Extended Stay Discounts: For those looking to enjoy Lake Superior for a longer period, some campgrounds offer reduced rates for stays of a week or more.
- Local Event Packages: If there are local festivals or events in Herbster or nearby Bayfield, the campground might have special packages or rates associated with those dates.
The best way to inquire about any specific promotions is to call Herbster Campground directly. Given its charming, local feel, a direct conversation with the management can often reveal any unadvertised deals or best times to visit for a more economical stay. The primary "offer" of Herbster Campground, however, remains its unparalleled location and the inherent value of camping directly on Lake Superior.

Customer Reviews
Camped for three nights in mid-September, back in the corner with water and electric. Not a pull through site and the view is limited, but the fire ring is more private. It's a quiet location, but we did hear neighbors chatting right outside the window because sites are a little tight. Nice facilities, clean bathrooms and shower. We didn't use the dump facilities. Beautiful location, easy for a trip to Bayfield, or Duluth.
Campground used to be a five for me! Sites are set up nicely allowing a view of the lake from every site. However rude people are allowed to have their camper a car with a trailer and tow vehicle on their site. Started with a car in our view and after we asked them (very nicely) if they would be willing to move it up a bit so we could see the lake they replaced it with their truck. Dogs left in campers barking all day. Bathrooms without toilet paper for a whole afternoon/night. Views are amazing (when you can see them) Beach is great and dog friendly! Big plus! Sunsets are the best! Hate to give a bad review because of rude people but if people were asked to follow rules our experience would be a 5!
Nice campground, can't beat the tent sites right on the beach! Very good restroom & shower facilities, especially for a small private campground. Had site 1 under the line trees, best sunsets ever!
Wonderful little town and campground. We loved it! It rained the whole time we stayed but it was still a very relaxing vacation. Bathrooms and showers were very clean and nice. Porta potty was right next to our site and clean! It got cleaned out the day after we arrived too. They had a nice set up outside the bathrooms to wash your dishes. The hosts were extremely helpful and friendly. Beautiful view of the lake in our pop up! Walking distance to a nice little playground for my son and we walked over to the bar nearby for some drinks and ice cream! Locals were friendly as well. We will be making it an annual tradition! Can't wait to go back!
This campground is gorgeous! We try to make this our annual trip except for the covid times. So it's been a few years since we've been back and they added a couple very nice bathrooms with showers in them. Breathtaking stuff. The sunsets are beyond things that you see anywhere else around here except for traveling south. This is a great place for all family things. And just to clear your mind.
