Kittatinny Canoes - River Beach Campground: An Overview of Your Poconos Adventure Base
For Pennsylvanians looking for an exciting and accessible outdoor escape, Kittatinny Canoes - River Beach Campground serves as a premier basecamp for adventure in the Pocono Mountains. More than just a place to pitch a tent or park an RV, this destination is intrinsically linked to the Delaware River, operating as a key outfitter for a wide range of water-based activities. The campground’s purpose is to facilitate memorable river experiences, whether that involves a leisurely tube float or a more adventurous whitewater kayak trip.
Situated right on the banks of the scenic Delaware River, the location offers a desirable riverfront setting that is highly valued by many local campers. Its decades-long history as a pioneer in the river outfitting industry gives it a unique standing, providing both the campsite amenities and the full spectrum of equipment and shuttle services needed for a complete Delaware River vacation. The property offers over 160 sites across 18 acres, allowing for a choice between wooded, open field, or the highly sought-after riverfront locations, catering to both tent and RV campers.
It is important for prospective guests to note the lively atmosphere that comes with being a major adventure hub. The very nature of a destination focused on group and family activities means the environment is often energetic and social. While many visitors appreciate this buzz and the easy access to activities, the community’s high-traffic location—close to a major highway—and the social nature of the camping area can lead to noise from trucks and fellow campers, particularly on busy weekends. Therefore, this campground is best suited for local users whose priority is direct river access, a full menu of outdoor adventures, and a bustling, convivial atmosphere, rather than deep, isolated wilderness quiet. The convenience and unique river access are consistently cited as key benefits that keep campers returning year after year.

Kittatinny Canoes - River Beach Campground is conveniently located in the northeast corner of Pennsylvania, in the quaint, historic town of Milford, putting it within easy driving distance for residents across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. For Pennsylvania residents, the campground is easily reached via major highways such as I-84, connecting it to the larger Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and even Philadelphia metropolitan areas.
As a gateway to the Pocono Mountains and the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, the campground’s location is a prime asset. It is just three miles from the picturesque village of Milford, where visitors can explore charming shops, local restaurants, and historic sites. Furthermore, its immediate adjacency to the Delaware River means campers have direct, unparalleled access to launch points for all the river activities offered, saving valuable time and travel compared to other area campgrounds. This excellent geographic positioning makes it a highly convenient spot for Pennsylvania families seeking a quick weekend adventure without extensive travel.

Love the location of this campground as it is right on the Delaware River. Good PX and very nice staff. Good bathrooms but on busy holiday weekends people take 15 plus minutes in a public shower where there is a long line. It might be helpful to post signs advising a time limit on use of showers. Either that or install coin operated ones that shut off after 5 minutes. Would also help to manage that resource. Otherwise, had a great stay and look forward to my 3rd year next year.
Sep 01, 2025 · Dorothy C.If you want a quiet campground to disconnect and enjoy nature, DO NOT GO HERE. I saw the reviews about the highway noise and people playing loud music and thought that won't be a problem but it was. The campground is close to the highway so you hear loud trucks all night. There are rules about not playing music past 10pm but no one enforces it. People being loud and playing music until 2am. When I brought this up to the staff, the response was that I should have called the cops. On top of it, the water view sites are not as they advertise. You don't get the view of the river like they promised. For $130 for one very loud and exhausting night, it's not worth it.
Sep 15, 2025 · Brandon GendlerRafting Trip Review Be prepared: You will likely pay well over $400 for one raft holding six people for a 3–4 hour trip. Whether your group is all adults or a mix of adults and children, you will still only receive one raft unless you pay additional fees. If you are booking for 6 people and want more than 1 raft, book separate reservations (minimum 3 to a raft). The policy assumes six adults can fit comfortably in one raft — something not clearly stated online, where it only notes a minimum of three people. In past years, I’ve always been able to request two rafts, but as of this year, they will no longer accommodate that request. I wish this change had been made clear during the booking process. When I called to request two rafts (as I have many times before), I spoke with a supervisor named Chris. Unfortunately, Chris was rude, condescending, and dismissive. He was short with me, referenced another customer’s spending inappropriately, and displayed neither the calmness nor professionalism expected from someone in a supervisory role. I ended up paying an extra $36 to secure two rafts. When I later called to get an email confirmation, I spoke with Carol. She was a breath of fresh air — pleasant, empathetic, and professional. Carol took the time to apologize for how I had been spoken to, clearly explained how the rafts are set up, and confirmed the recent change in policy. She also avoided making unnecessary suggestions (such as removing coolers to make space) and truly represented what good customer service should be. This experience has unfortunately left me with a negative impression of this location. While I appreciate Carol’s professionalism and hope for a smooth on-site experience, I will likely look elsewhere for future trips — and recommend others do the same unless policies and customer service improve.
Aug 08, 2025 · Jennifer BlohmVivian was incredibly helpful and patient while assisting us with booking our camping trip for next month. She took the time to answer all our questions and made the whole process smooth and stress free. Her soft spoken, kind demeanor made working with her such a pleasure. Because of her, we’ll definitely continue booking our annual camping getaway. They are truly lucky to have such an amazing representative on their team!
Aug 10, 2025 · Eva LopezWe had a truly beautiful experience at Kittatinny — wonderful people, perfect weather, and gorgeous grounds. Kayla and Vanessa went above and beyond, finding us the perfect site after an unusual water issue at our original booking, even though it was one of the busiest weekends. They personally drove us to see the new creek site to make sure it was I preferred replacement site. Their kindness, patience, and dedication made our stay exceptional. Highly recommend!
