Moutardier Campground About
For those of us here in Kentucky, when the urge to reconnect with nature strikes, a peaceful campground by the water often comes to mind. Our state is blessed with an abundance of natural beauty, from rolling hills to magnificent lakes, offering countless opportunities for outdoor adventure and relaxation. Campgrounds provide that perfect blend of rustic charm and essential amenities, allowing us to escape the daily routine, breathe fresh air, and create cherished memories with family and friends. They are more than just a place to pitch a tent or park an RV; they are gateways to exploration, serenity, and the simple joys of outdoor living.
A campground, at its core, is a designated area where individuals and groups can set up temporary lodging, whether it's a cozy tent, a spacious RV, or sometimes even a cabin. Kentucky's campgrounds are generally well-maintained, offering a variety of facilities to ensure a comfortable stay. Many, like the one we're about to explore, boast access to stunning natural features and provide modern conveniences such as clean bathhouses and ample space. "Moutardier Campground" is a name that resonates with those seeking a beautiful and peaceful lakeside retreat in our beloved Bluegrass State, providing an ideal base for enjoying the tranquility of Nolin Lake and the surrounding natural wonders.
Moutardier Campground is nestled in the scenic area of Bee Spring, KY 42207, USA. This location places it directly on the shores of the picturesque Nolin Lake, a significant draw for campers and water enthusiasts across Kentucky. For those of us living in the state, it's a wonderfully accessible escape into nature, offering a blend of secluded beauty with reasonable driving distances from many of Kentucky's population centers.
While Bee Spring itself is a smaller community, the campground's appeal lies in its immediate surroundings. Nolin Lake is a major recreational area, and the campground's position provides direct access to its waters. For travelers from Louisville, the drive is typically around 1.5 to 2 hours, offering a convenient weekend getaway. From Bowling Green, it’s often less than an hour's drive. The primary access road, KY-259, leads directly into the campground. While one review noted ongoing roadwork on a narrow section of KY-259, this is a temporary inconvenience for the overall benefit of access.
The surrounding area offers typical small-town conveniences, but the main attraction is the lake itself and the extensive outdoor recreation opportunities it provides. This makes Moutardier Campground an ideal destination for Kentuckians looking to immerse themselves in a natural, lakeside setting without venturing too far from home.

Customer Reviews
Moutardier Campground provided a great, beautiful, peaceful place to get away. The lake is wonderful. I enjoyed a great swim right down the hill from my campsite. The lake seemed clean, no suspicious odors! The grounds are clean, as well as the bath houses. It is definitely a boaters' lake. Jet-skis, kayaks, motor boats and pontoon boats provided easy entertainment from my campsite chair! The camp was not crowded and a mix of campers. All were friendly and had well behaved pets! If you like to be right on the lake, there are some sites nearly in the lake! No complaints about noise, it was made while having fun. I will visit this area again.
We dry camped on a water site. We had 1 bar with Verizon and 3 with our King booster. There were beautiful redheaded woodpeckers and hummingbirds. I saw 1 bald eagle early in the morning. The bathhouse was clean and the showers were roomy. Only con is the roadwork being done on the narrow road 259? Leading into the campground.
This was a friendly and so enjoyable experience. The park was clean and had plenty of photo ops. Kids were riding scooters and electric bikes up and down hills. Boating looked so fun and being dragged by tube's.
Quiet and serene, plenty of sites with lake views. Sites are arranged so you're not on top of each other. Prices are super cheap. Lots of trees. Beautiful bath houses. Plenty of good bank fishing spots. Roads getting to the campground and in the campground are narrow but do-able with a 40' class A towing. Boat ramp is easily accessible . Drawback : no sewer hookups, lake front sites are primitive ( no water or electricity) even tho most are big enough for a motorhome. Quiet generators are allowed 6am- 10pm Few sites are level. We will be back !
Great campground with nice views of the lake. Not small-children friendly though. Steep sides with big rocks and really only one playground remotely near most of the campsites. Very hilly for biking. Better suited for adult camping.
