Oil City RV and Camping About

For Ohio residents, especially those working in or passing through the St. Clairsville area with large RVs or commercial vehicles, Oil City RV and Camping presents itself as a straightforward, no-frills option. It's known as a "pipeline campground," suggesting it primarily caters to a specific clientele seeking a functional and accommodating place to park their rigs. While a recent review highlights a highly unfortunate individual experience with customer service and payment, other feedback indicates that for many, particularly those in long-term stays, the park serves its purpose effectively.

This campground is not about resort-style amenities or a bustling social scene. Instead, its appeal lies in its simplicity and practicality. Visitors who appreciate a "no 1,001 rules to follow" approach, relying instead on "basic common sense," will find its relaxed atmosphere appealing. It’s designed for those who need reliable full hookups and sufficient space for larger vehicles, making it a viable option for a particular segment of the RV and trucking community in Ohio.

It is important for prospective visitors to be aware of the mixed reviews regarding management interactions and the "cash only" payment policy, which is a consistent point mentioned. Understanding these aspects upfront will help ensure a more predictable experience. For those whose needs align with a simple, utilitarian RV spot with essential hookups and ample space, Oil City RV and Camping in St. Clairsville offers a foundational place to stay.

Location and Accessibility

Oil City RV and Camping is situated at 67655 Banfield Rd, St Clairsville, OH 43950, USA. This address places it within Belmont County, Ohio, a region known for its strategic location along major transportation routes, particularly for commercial and industrial activities. St. Clairsville is a hub in the Ohio Valley, offering access to various services and being a common stopover point.

The location on Banfield Road, while not necessarily on a major highway, appears to be easily accessible from the primary routes that truckers and RVers would utilize to reach St. Clairsville. The nature of a "pipeline campground" often implies a location chosen for its convenience to work sites, suggesting that it's straightforward to navigate to with large vehicles.

For Ohio residents, particularly those in the trucking industry or with very large recreational vehicles, the accessibility of this campground is a key factor. It offers a practical stopping point without the complexities of navigating through dense urban areas or tight recreational parks. Its position within St. Clairsville means that while it offers a functional place to stay, necessary supplies and services are within a reasonable driving distance.

Services Offered

Oil City RV and Camping focuses on providing essential services for RVers, particularly those with larger rigs or who require long-term stays. As per available information and reviews, the park prioritizes fundamental hookups over extensive amenities.

  • Full Hookups: A prominent service offered, providing campers with access to electric, water, and sewer connections at their sites. This is crucial for comfortable RV living, especially for extended periods.

  • Large Sites: Reviewers indicate that the sites are "big enough for big fifth wheel with slides on both sides and two trucks." This suggests ample space, catering to larger RVs and potentially commercial vehicles.

  • Long-Term Stays: The nature of being a "pipeline campground" and a review mentioning a three-month stay strongly implies that the park accommodates and is suitable for extended or seasonal rentals.

  • Basic Rules: The park is described as having "no 1,001 rules to follow. Just basic common sense," suggesting a relaxed approach to site management and guest conduct, appealing to those who prefer less stringent regulations.

  • Cash Only Payment: This is a critical operational detail. Payments are explicitly stated as "Cash Only," and visitors must be prepared for this method of transaction.

It is important to note what is NOT explicitly mentioned or is contradicted by reviews regarding amenities:

  • No Extra Amenities: One review explicitly states, "No extra amenities." This means campers should not expect features like restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, cable TV, playgrounds, swimming pools, or a camp store. Guests must be self-sufficient.

  • No Restrooms/Bathhouse: Some older, generic campground listings sometimes mention "Restrooms" or "Playground" for Oil City RV and Camping, but specific customer reviews clearly state "No bathroom facilities" for a similarly named "Oil City" campground (though that was in a different state). Given the "no extra amenities" comment, it is safest to assume that traditional public restrooms or showers are not available and that RVers must rely on their onboard facilities.

Prospective campers, especially those without self-contained RVs, should confirm these details directly with the park before arrival.

Features / Highlights

Oil City RV and Camping in St. Clairsville, OH, offers several key features and highlights that define its appeal, primarily for a specific segment of the RV and commercial travel community. These points are derived directly from customer feedback, though some aspects require careful consideration.

  • Full Hookups: A significant highlight is the availability of full hookups (electric, water, sewer) at each site. This essential amenity ensures a comfortable and convenient stay, especially for those in large RVs or for extended periods.

  • Large, Spacious Sites: Reviewers praise the site size, noting they are "big enough for big fifth wheel with slides on both sides and two trucks." This accommodates large rigs and utility vehicles, which is crucial for commercial travelers or those with extensive setups.

  • "Pipeline Campground" Focus: This self-description indicates a specialization in serving pipeline workers and potentially other long-term commercial stays. This focus means the park understands the specific needs of this demographic.

  • Relaxed Rules: The campground operates on a "no 1,001 rules to follow. Just basic common sense" philosophy. For campers who dislike overly strict regulations, this offers a sense of freedom and a low-stress environment.

  • Peaceful for Long-Term Stays (for some): One review notes "No much traffic, very peaceful. Plus the owners are great people!" (Note: This specific quote was from a different campground, but the sentiment of peace in a simple setting can be a highlight for Oil City RV and Camping as well, given the context of other reviews of "no issues in the three months there" implying a stable, quiet environment for those on extended work assignments).

  • Suitable for Long-Term Occupancy: The presence of campers staying for "three months" highlights its viability as a reliable and convenient option for those requiring extended accommodation in the area.

  • Cash Only Policy: While potentially inconvenient for some, this explicit policy is a feature to be aware of. For those prepared, it simplifies transactions on-site by avoiding card processing.

It is crucial to acknowledge a highly negative review mentioning a "scammer" and "unpleasant experience" with a person named Rodger, citing a dispute over cash payment and aggressive behavior. While this is a serious concern, it represents one individual's experience among others who "had no issues." Prospective visitors should keep this in mind and potentially take precautions as suggested by the review. The overall impression is of a highly functional, utilitarian park for specific needs, requiring visitors to be self-sufficient and aware of its operational style.

Promotions or Special Offers

Information about specific promotions or special offers for Oil City RV and Camping is not readily available in the provided public data. Given its description as a "pipeline campground" and its focus on utilitarian, long-term stays, it is unlikely to offer traditional recreational camping promotions such as themed weekends or holiday discounts.

However, based on the nature of such campgrounds, it is highly probable that their pricing structure is designed to be attractive for extended stays. While not explicitly termed "promotions," these would function as value offerings for their target clientele:

  • Weekly Rates: Often, campgrounds catering to long-term or worker stays will have discounted weekly rates compared to daily rates.

  • Monthly Rates: Significantly reduced monthly rates are common for individuals or crews requiring accommodation for several weeks or months.

  • Seasonal Rates: For those who might stay for an entire work season, a fixed seasonal rate could offer considerable savings.

The "Cash Only" policy, while a functional requirement, also suggests that direct payment might align with their pricing model, potentially allowing them to maintain competitive rates by avoiding card processing fees. For Ohio residents considering Oil City RV and Camping, especially for long-term needs, the most effective way to inquire about potential savings or special arrangements is to contact them directly. Be prepared to ask about their specific rate structures for extended stays.

I had the most unpleasant experience of my life in this place if I could leave it 0 stars it would be spectacular because this place does not deserve even 1 star!! today 10-5-2024 they charged me 100 dollars to park my truck, I asked Rodger if he could send them by zelle and he told me that he preferred cash and he told me to leave the cash in the mail box. I left them in an envelope. And he calls me in the morning yelling that he didn't find the envelope and I told him to check the cameras because I left it there and took a video with my phone leaving the envelope inside the mail box he told me that he didn't received the video and to leave his property yelling at me on the phone and insulting me this guy has no respect and is not worth anything SO TRUCKERS!! and people who arrive at that place think very well before dealing with this clown and staying there because Mr. RODGER is not a serious person is Arrogant and aggressive is a waste of time and money or even more than that! AND HE IS A BIG SCAMMER HE KEPT MY $100 no wonder he didn't want me to send it through zelle or cashapp.

It’s a pipeline campground. No extra amenities. Full hooks and no 1,001 rules to follow. Just basic common sense. We had no issues in the three months there. Sites were big enough for big fifth wheel with slides on both sides and two trucks. *Cash Only*

I have to say I never knew this place was here. It is so quiet you have your space which is wonderful. I would’ve given it five stars if it had better Wi-Fi. I mean I had no Wi-Fi at all and the TV that had the Wi-Fi came in fuzzy and I know that I’d have a much clearer picture if there was Wi-Fi added to this area For the people who rent on a monthly basis, I think it should be offered for good faith. Nobody seems to bother you and you got your hook ups. You’re near so many food establishments that mall is right down the road. It’s a fabulous mall you’re near all the gas stations Great location.

We stayed here for several months & had no issues! The owner is great & easy to get along with! We got a spot by the valley & its just beautiful to have that view! We had no theft, it felt very safe. It does get pretty muddy, which is no big deal, unless u hav dogs..lots of paw washing! There are no amenities & wifi is useless. Its a very relaxed campground. Its close to everything you will ever need too! 4 stars bc it could use a little TLC & wifi/shower houses/laundry would be a great addition. Price was fair! Lots are spacious, no trees, very wide open campground!

The owner of this place is a really nice man. The lots are large and all gravel, however if you have a second vehicle you have to park beside your camper leaving you little to no "yard". The electric is strong and the water is city. Very close to any store/restaurant you would need. Overall, a good place to stay when working.
