Old Mill Campground is located at Old Ml Wy, White Oak, WV 25989, USA. This address places it firmly within the beautiful, rural landscape of Summers County, West Virginia. Its proximity to Bluestone State Park and Bluestone Lake is a significant draw, offering campers immediate access to a wealth of water-based and land-based recreational activities that are popular among West Virginia locals.
White Oak, WV, while rural, is generally accessible via state routes. Campers traveling from various parts of West Virginia will find the journey scenic and manageable. The campground is nestled in an area known for its natural beauty, meaning the drive itself becomes part of the outdoor experience, transitioning from populated areas to rolling hills and dense forests. While specific highway access isn't detailed, its inclusion within the Bluestone State Park system implies that it's designed to be reachable by standard vehicles, though campers should always be prepared for country roads.
The strategic location of Old Mill Campground means campers are just moments away from the vast opportunities presented by Bluestone Lake, West Virginia's third-largest body of water. This lake is a hub for boating, fishing, and swimming, making the campground an ideal base for aquatic adventures. Additionally, the surrounding state park offers numerous hiking trails, including parts of the Bluestone Turnpike Trail, allowing for exploration of the region’s diverse ecosystems and historical sites. For West Virginia residents, this proximity to such significant recreational resources makes Old Mill Campground a highly appealing choice for outdoor enthusiasts.
As a state park campground, Old Mill Campground, like many facilities within West Virginia State Parks, generally operates on a standardized fee structure determined by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (DNR). Specific, ongoing "promotions" in the commercial sense are not typically advertised for individual state park campgrounds in the same way a private business might offer them. Instead, the value is often found in the affordable rates for accessing natural resources and basic camping facilities.
However, it is always advisable for West Virginia residents to inquire directly or check the official West Virginia State Parks website for any broad state-wide initiatives or seasonal discounts that might apply. For instance, the West Virginia State Parks system has, in the past, offered discounts such as a "Veterans Salute Discount" (e.g., "VETS10" code for 10% off for veterans) that could be applicable across various park facilities, including campgrounds. While specific to the individual, such programs can offer savings.
Given the rustic nature of Old Mill Campground, its "offer" is primarily the experience itself: an accessible, natural setting at a reasonable price point, allowing West Virginians to enjoy their state's outdoors without significant financial outlay. For the most up-to-date information on any potential seasonal rates, group discounts (if applicable for larger parties), or general state park promotions, contacting the Bluestone State Park office is the best course of action.

Sites are not as advertised on website. Booked site 31 which the map and pictures show being waterfront. The sites were renumbered at some point in the past and site 31 was in a sunny field with no campfire ring, shade, or water.
Jul 04, 2024 · Steven ConklinI was planning to camp two nights at Bluestone. The lady was nice at check in, but the site 3 was awful. Tiny patch of grass on top of the adjacent site with noisy neighbors playing music and singing until 2 in the morning. No fire ring or picnic table, so nothing to do except sit in the car. I packed up and checked in to a hotel after the first night.
