For example, electric sites might range from $31-$39 depending on the season and specific site features, while equestrian sites could be $17-$24.
  • Discounts: Ohio State Parks may offer discounts for certain groups (e.g., seniors, veterans). Any applicable discount codes must be applied during the reservation process, and proof of eligibility may be required upon arrival. Detailed information on discounts is typically found on the Ohio DNR website's "Discounts" webpage.
  • Reservation Window: Campers can make reservations up to six months prior to their desired arrival date, allowing for advance planning, especially for popular weekends and holidays.

Beautiful campgrounds as you come to expect with the michigan state parks. Clean restrooms and showers. Only issue is a power plant across the road that has some kind of turbines or motors that fire up and are loud. Not unbearable by any means but not the quiet campground evening you may desire. If you have a group and talk a lot or are chasing the kids around you wouldn't notice it.

Van Buren State Park Campground is a small and simple place for a nice long weekend. Some sites have power, but many do not, and there are only pit toilets and no shower houses, so be prepared for the lack of amenities. Half of the sites are equestrian campsites as well. I didn't check with the part to see if you were limited to only renting those sites if you had horses, so you might want to check with them. There are beautiful hiking trails and a lovely reservoir for kayaking. Fishing wasn't great, as we found the entire lake created by the dam was only a few feet deep. Overall, it's a nice place close to home. I'll likely spend more long weekends there, but it won't be a destination for my family.
