I have been staying at this campground with my younger brother mom and dad for about 5 years now your not going to get a more welcoming friendly environment.people are so nice it’s very clean and there is so much to do at the camp ground alone with trails and walks and down the street is a giant lake where you are able to swim and just hang out on the beach. The owner is very nice to and makes that known when you interact with him I definitely recommend it due to it being quite and a nice get away for the summer if you enjoy it make sure to apply for a spot in end winter give it a try!
May 21, 2025 · Brenna CarrierCamped here over the weekend and can not say enough good things! It’s a nice quiet area but only 25-30 minutes from a city if you’re looking for a night out. Personally we loved how quiet the area was, a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The beach area is beautiful and never very busy. Access to the beach is walking distance away. Each site has a full hookup and price is very comparable to other campgrounds. Absolutely worth it. The owners are down to earth genuinely nice people. I can’t wait for my next stay!! Also love that this place is dog friendly!
Aug 29, 2021 · Stephanie RicciI have been a seasonal camper at ALCG for the past three years, and I truly love this place. I started out with an 18-foot towable camper and eventually upgraded to a fifth wheel—with generous help from the owners. I didn’t have the means to tow a large camper, but once I found the right one, they picked it up and brought it to the campground for me. Their support and hospitality are unmatched. This is the quietest campground I’ve ever been to, which is a huge plus since I work on weekends and truly value the peace. The campsites are large and spread out, so even when it’s full, it feels like you’re tucked away in the Maine woods—not in a busy, party-filled campground. The natural beauty is the real star here. I have a dog, and the walking trails around the campground make it easy and enjoyable to get out and explore. The other campers are friendly, respectful, and share the same appreciation for the calm atmosphere. The lake is absolutely stunning—a birder’s paradise, with sightings ranging from chickadees to bald eagles. I have a kayak, and there’s a convenient lakeside storage area for them, as well as docks for larger boats and fishing. The lake is just across the road, accessible by a quiet dirt road that keeps the environment peaceful and natural. Wild blueberries are everywhere in season, and the entire campground and beach area are pristine and well-maintained thanks to the dedicated efforts of Mike and Karen—often seen behind the wheel of their trusty John Deere tractor. When my grandkids visit, they get to truly experience nature. We play games, explore, and enjoy quality time without the distractions of modern life. It’s the kind of experience I believe every child should have. Location-wise, it couldn’t be better—just 30 minutes from the capital and several other cities. The local Amish market, only five minutes away, offers incredible fresh produce, meats, eggs, and homemade sweets. For other essentials, Hannaford, Dunkin’, Ace Hardware, Walgreens, and a laundromat are just a short 15-minute drive. If you're looking to experience the best of Maine’s natural beauty in a peaceful, friendly environment, ALCG is the perfect campground—whether for a weekend getaway or season after season. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
Jun 21, 2025 · Jill RossWhat a wonderful place! There isn't a bad site to be had. Very spacious sites and well designed to maximize the quiet. The owners were incredibly pleasant, social and gracious. We will definitely be back!
May 27, 2025 · bobby grantBeen here almost yearly for the past five years, sometimes twice in a season, as tent campers. A lot has been done over those years to improve the sites/campground. Amazing lake views and beach!! Always have been treated fairly by the owner, seems like a laidback family oriented slice of Maine vacation land!
