For Maine locals—especially those who prefer the comfort and convenience of RV camping—the Freeport Village Campground offers an excellent and highly valued resource. Located strategically in the heart of Midcoast Maine, this small, private RV park provides a peaceful and well-kept basecamp just moments away from one of the state’s most popular destinations: downtown Freeport. While many campgrounds focus on deep-woods seclusion or oceanfront exposure, Freeport Village Campground carves out a unique niche by offering proximity to retail, dining, and coastal attractions without sacrificing a quiet, relaxing atmosphere.
The campground is typically described by visitors as an incredibly clean, friendly, and small-scale operation, usually containing around 33 to 35 total sites. This smaller size contributes significantly to its tranquil environment. As evidenced by local reviews, the welcoming nature of the community here is a major draw, with many visitors, including seasonal campers, speaking highly of the pleasant, neighborhood-like atmosphere. It is important for potential visitors to note that this is primarily an RV-focused park, and it does not typically accommodate traditional tent camping, catering instead to motorhomes, fifth wheels, and travel trailers, including those considered "big rigs."
Operating generally from May 1st through October 31st, the campground offers a straightforward, no-fuss experience. Its appeal lies not in elaborate, resort-style amenities, but in providing the essential, premium services that RV owners value most: reliable utilities, cleanliness, and an unbeatable location for exploring all that Freeport and the surrounding coastal region have to offer. For Maine residents looking for a great value and a consistent, friendly place to spend their summer and fall weekends close to home, Freeport Village Campground has built a strong reputation as a preferred choice.
Freeport Village Campground boasts one of the most convenient locations for any RV park in the area, offering a prime blend of quiet retreat and urban accessibility.

Its proximity to major regional attractions is a key feature for locals. The campground is situated just a short drive—often mere minutes—from the renowned shopping district of downtown Freeport, home to the iconic L.L.Bean Flagship Store and a wide array of outlet shops and local boutiques. This means campers can effortlessly spend a morning hiking at a local state park, an afternoon shopping and dining in the village, and an evening relaxing by their RV.
Accessibility from major routes is excellent. The town of Freeport is a convenient stop off I-295, making the drive stress-free for residents traveling from areas like Greater Portland or points north in Midcoast and Central Maine. While situated close to the action, the specific location on Dotens Lane manages to be just far enough away from the immediate bustle of Main Street to ensure a peaceful and quiet setting for campers, creating a perfect balance that allows for both exploration and relaxation.
This facility is highly focused on providing essential, premium services tailored specifically to the needs of RV enthusiasts, ensuring a comfortable and hassle-free stay.

We moved in a couple weeks ago and we are just blown away with how nice everyone is and how beautiful and peaceful it is here! Definitely staying for a long while! Summers in Maine will be great here!!
May 09, 2024 · Brandy FrenchWe stayed at Freeport Village CG for two nights in our 35' Class A MH. This is a very nice RV Park. It's small (maybe 35 sites total), but very well kept. Our site was level, and all utilities worked well. We didn't have much interaction with the staff, but they were very pleasant when we did.
Aug 15, 2023 · David TurnerWe stayed 3 days so we could tour Freeport and surrounding area. Very reasonable prices and very accommodating to us. Not an RV resort (and we didn’t need one) but really comfortable park. Contrary to other reviews that stated no dedicated pet area, they directed us to the field behind the maintenance garage and WOW. Awesome mowed off leash area. We played frisbee and the pups ran their legs off. We were very happy with our stay. Very close to LLBean and downtown Freeport.
Aug 04, 2023 · Aalia FuellerNice family-owned Campground very close to the outlet malls in Freeport. The owners are on site and so friendly; RIta found us a last-minte spot for the week even though most folks staying here are seasonal. The prices are the best in the area. Clean laundry on site in the clubhouse; showers too. No tent campers, FYI. Stayed in early May 2023.
May 09, 2023 · Melodie AdkinsWe stayed here on our way North and it was good value, friendly people, full hookups, reasonable pricing. No real access to trails or anywhere to walk your dog but you can get in the car and go to nearby parks. We felt it was worth it to stay here in order to have access to Freeport which is only a mile down the road. L.L.Bean is here and it is really fun to just hang around Freeport. Shocked at how many craft breweries there were. If you are only staying a night or so and have boondocking capabilities, you can park in downtown Freeport in the spillover parking lot for l.l. bean, but there are no services, water, dump station etc., Nor would any be expected in a parking lot.
