Customer Reviews
Stayed in one of the first-come-first-served spots. Plenty of length for our rig and we could stay flexible even though campground is sold out for Memorial Day. Nice overlooks of the river and the locks. Worked really well when the lowlands and other campgrounds were flooded. Well kept and clean, modern bathrooms. Update 2024: same spot, campground still looks great! Not too busy.
The Dyas Unit of Bellevue State Park Iowa is not only a treasure for campers, but also provides amazing hiking trails for all skill levels. The trails are unique and challenging at times, as you follow the deer paths through the woodlands. The Blue and Yellow Trails give a unique view of hillside paths in the north and west side of Dyas Park, while the Bluff Trail follows the east Bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. If you just need a relaxing and shorter hike, the Deer Trail is fun for all and quite popular with children. This peaceful park is located 2 miles south of our beautiful Nelson Unit and provides hookups and accommodations for campers. Firewood is available during spring, summer, and fall.
This place is beautiful, inexpensive and the spaces are decent in size. They have showers and bathrooms. Cash for wood. Picnic tables are here too. Downside is people didn't respect the quiet hours.
Cost: $22! back-in site #77, gravel pad, no water at this site Location: near but not on the Mississippi River Amenities: table, fire ring, private showers but push-button run time of only 25 "! Condition: beautiful area & better than avg. upkeep Biking/Walking: large sized paved & rather hilly campground road Remarks: Spacious sites & common areas with many trees, but beware of the grade on some of the pull thru options. Restroom lights on motion timer for
Beautiful place. Close to Galena, IL, Mines of Spain, Maquoketa Caves, and Dubuque. Campgrounds and restrooms were clean and well kept. My only issue is we had a group put their tent 3ft from our campfire. Of course this group was loud and obnoxious, but with this new wave of campers the DNR/Rangers need to be more observant of campers invading other campers sites. I know the ranger saw because he stopped and gave them suggestions on were they could have put their tents. I wish the ranger would have said something that should be common sense. I will say something next time. Their tent was literally 3ft from our campfire and 5ft into our campsite.
