Hill's Mobile Homes & Apartments About
For individuals and families in North Carolina, especially those looking for housing options in the Havelock area, exploring mobile home parks and apartment complexes often comes down to finding a suitable and stable place to live. Hill's Mobile Homes & Apartments, located in Havelock, aims to provide housing in this vibrant military community. However, as with any long-term living situation, understanding the full spectrum of experiences from current and former residents is crucial for making an informed decision. This article will provide an overview of Hill's Mobile Homes & Apartments based on publicly available information and candid resident reviews, offering a factual look for prospective locals.
Hill's Mobile Homes & Apartments is located at 1500 NC-101, Havelock, NC 28532, USA. This places the community directly on a key thoroughfare in Havelock, North Carolina. Highway 101 is a significant artery, providing relatively easy access to other parts of Havelock and connecting to surrounding areas. Havelock itself is a city deeply connected to Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, a major military installation, which means the area often has a dynamic and transient population.
The location on NC-101 means residents likely have convenient access to local amenities such as grocery stores, restaurants, and other services that line the highway. Its position within Havelock suggests that commuting to work, school, or other daily activities within the city would be straightforward, though the overall walkability score for the area is generally considered car-dependent. For those seeking housing near the military base or with easy routes to the wider Craven County region, the address offers practical accessibility. While the immediate surroundings might be commercial or suburban due to the highway frontage, the broader Havelock area provides access to outdoor activities, including nearby waterways and parks, though some may require a drive.
- Mobile Home Lots: Hill's Mobile Homes & Apartments likely offers spaces for mobile homes, either for rent or potentially for purchase of units on site. This provides a housing option that can be more affordable than traditional stick-built homes in the area.
- Apartment Rentals: The name also includes "Apartments," suggesting that in addition to mobile home lots, there are also apartment units available for rent on the property, providing a variety of housing styles within the same community.
- Basic Utilities & Maintenance (Implicit): As a residential community, it's expected that basic utilities infrastructure (water, sewer, electricity) is in place for the homes and apartments. Maintenance services for common areas and potentially for unit-specific issues would typically be offered by property management, though resident reviews suggest the upkeep may vary.
- Convenient Location on NC-101: As mentioned, the direct access to NC-101 is a practical feature for daily commutes and accessing Havelock's amenities.
- Variety of Housing Options: The offering of both mobile homes and apartments provides flexibility for different housing needs and budgets.
- Community Interaction Potential: Like any residential complex, there is potential for neighborly interaction. However, the provided reviews do not specifically highlight positive community features, focusing more on management interactions.
- Owner/Management Influence: The very detailed negative review critically points to the alleged owner, "Vernon Hill," as having a significant impact on the resident experience, specifically citing issues regarding lease non-renewal without clear cause, alleged knowledge of a tenant with a serious criminal background, and alleged attempts at witness tampering related to external business dealings. This highly negative feedback suggests that the management's conduct is a critical factor for residents.
- Property Upkeep Concerns: One review states, "Owner does not keep the place up very well," which indicates potential concerns about the general maintenance and aesthetic condition of the property.
- Financial Disputes: A past resident reported being charged a substantial fee upon move-out without a detailed bill, leading to a feeling of being unfairly treated. This highlights potential financial transparency issues.

For North Carolina locals considering Hill's Mobile Homes & Apartments in Havelock, the information available paints a complex picture. On one hand, its location on NC-101 offers convenient access to Havelock's amenities and proximity to MCAS Cherry Point, which could be appealing for military families or those working in the area. The availability of both mobile homes and apartments provides diverse housing options. However, the highly critical reviews from former residents, particularly one detailed account, raise significant concerns regarding property upkeep, management practices, resident treatment (especially during challenging times), and alleged questionable business ethics. Issues such as sudden lease non-renewals, concerns over tenant screening, and alleged inappropriate influence over legal matters are serious considerations that prospective residents must take into account. The reported financial dispute upon move-out also points to potential issues with transparency and fairness. Therefore, while Hill's Mobile Homes & Apartments may offer a location advantage, any local considering this community should proceed with extreme caution, conduct thorough due diligence, seek legal advice if necessary, and attempt to speak with multiple current residents (if possible) to get a broader perspective before committing to a lease or purchase. It is crucial to prioritize personal safety, financial security, and a fair living environment when choosing a home, and the experiences shared by former residents suggest that these aspects might be areas of concern at this particular property.

Owner does not keep the place up very well
HUGE DISCLAIMER - I am under the info that this living community is owned by VERNON HILL. If it is not, pleaaaase disregard the information in this review. If it is owned by VERNON HILL, pleaaaase take it into account as HILL had a horrible, utterly terrible effect on my life. Reasons are stated as follows: Lived in Vernon Hills Parh for 5+ years. Never late on rent once. My father, Erminio Lenins, passed away while I was living there. Vernon Hill self admittedly respected my father as Hill had been an insurance salesman as had my dad in the same County, Carteret. Three, as in 3, days after his passing, he told me and my girl, Ashley, that he was not renewing my lease and we would have to leave. He told me he was embarrassed at the amt of times officers had been out. I am saying that we argued at times, and officers came occasionally upon call, but literally neither one of us was ever arrested while living at Hills Mobile Home Park... Never once. While there for a length of two years a man named Robert Snow was a tenant. He was a convicted sexual predator who's crime was molesting his 1 year old daughter. He is on the sexual offenders list. Mr. Hill indicated to me that he had rented to a sexual offender on the list and apparently priorly new of his crime. He also told me that Snow had done additional time beating a prison guard badly. This who was in the adjacent trailer to me for two of the years I lived there. These mistakes in judgements is all that I really experienced from this man. Point 3...Last one. I signed an affidavit to help a friend catch someone stealing from her, as this friend had sold a shop she owned and consigned the merchandise (a large amt of it anyway) to a man named Richie. Hill owned the strip mall in front of his mobile home park as well where Richie had rented a spot to do business. He (Vernon Hill), out of the blue, because of his business dealings with Richie instructed me to reverse the affadavit as a bit of "friendly advice"! He's my landlord, so I did not know how he would react when I indicated that I would not. Being that that my affadavit was apparantly the tipping point for a judge to sign off on a raid of the shop and Richie's house for stolen merchandise. It (the lifted stuff) was found in both spots. This resembles witness tampering in my opinion. So, this is part of what I experienced over my time at Hills Mobile Home Park. Only if negative stars were an option on Google reviews. Stay away from Vernon Hill is my recommendation. As a note, He charged me $3000 as in three thousand some odd dollars when I moved out without producing a bill for any services rendered to the trailer of which I moved out. I was grieving for my father at the time so I just paid him. Prior to the demand he indicated to my fiance, Ashley, when they were in a private convo that he would be "very upset" if I did not make good on his demand. Boo on Vernon Hill. Boo on his business practices. He says he's a businessman. In my experience he more resembled a wannabe fear monger with a Napoleon Complex...a huge one.
I was tricked into signing a lease for a bedroom instead of a 2. Place wasn't ready. Before I signed the lease, I was told we could add roommates to the lease. Nowhere does the lease say we can't add roommates to the lease. After getting paid from my new roommates, the owner Jeremy told me, he was going to envict me for allowing them to move in. He also googled my name to pull up a news article for me getting arrested for charges that were dropped. He been harrassing me over this ever since.
Its affordable living and kept clean. Mgmnt seems friendly as well as the maintenace man- both are onsight which is always a plus. Quiet and set back off the mainroad also
The landlord is a slum lord. We lost our trailer during Hurricane Florence. Celiling caved in and mold everywhere. We lost everything. The slum lord couldn't or wouldn't give us our deposit back even though we were homeless and could use whatever we could get. He kept dodging our phone calls and texts. Beware before you rent here. If you have any problems, he goes about fixing them the cheapsest way he can and his maintenence man is a complete idiot.
